    Welcome to Jahra, Kuwait - the city with the hottest ever recorded temperature on earth!
    I went to Kuwait a few months ago, on the exact hottest day of the year, so I could see what life is like in the brutal heat!! How on earth can people survive and do their daily activities when it’s 55 degrees Celsius, or 140 degrees Fahrenheit outside? How can they eat? Sleep? Pray? Enjoy life?
    I met up with my local friend, Sulaiman, and together we went on an adventure of a lifetime, from the urban city life to deep inside the desert on the Saudi border.
    This is my favorite video of the year so far, and I hope you enjoy!!

      Even dying from hypothermia is better, you stop feeling everything, then you feel warm, then you feel euphoria and you drift off to sleep (die lol). Dying from hyperthermia is just cooking alive at a temperature that isn’t even enough to “cook” you, a terrible feeling, sometimes preceded by hallucinations, and you pass in and out of consciousness through seizures

      Nah. I live in Phx, AZ. We always get over 120 now every summer. I worked on the airport ramp where it regularly got to 135 around planes and concrete. Give me that any day over -10 and below. In 120 degrees you can still go to concerts (its' hot but I've been to many with a beer in hand!) go to the river, ect. In -20.... you stay inside all day, all night because it sucks too bad outside.

First it's much cooler at night and that's when everyone is out and about but also the desert nights are so mesmerizing. When will Americans stop using Fahrenheit?

    • @kobyschechter8163
      @kobyschechter8163 18 днів тому +3

      I’m American and I switched my phone to Celsius not long ago. It makes so much more sense because the freezing point is 0 and boiling is 100. In Fahrenheit freezing is 32 and boiling is 212. I’m an Amazon driver based out of Carle Place NY (Long Island). I don’t know how the drivers in places like Arizona, Las Vegas, and southern California do it in the summer months. Long Island has VERY high humidity in the summer. Even at night it’s absolutely unrelenting for months on end. I started delivering for Amazon in November 2023. It’s definitely much harder to work outside in the heat rather than the cold.

    • @kevinngoruhmonsang7106

    • @kobyschechter8163
      @kobyschechter8163 День тому

      @@marcodipietro8835 People don’t find it confusing because they grew up using it. Just like how we still measure distance in miles rather than kilometers and sell gasoline by the gallon rather than liters. Former presidents have tried to change America to metric but every effort failed. Canada changed to metric in the 1970’s and 1980’s and it cost taxpayers over a billion dollars. Canada is a country of about 35 million people. The United States is a country of 330 million. In America, it would cost hundreds of billions to change to metric. It would also be too time consuming.

    • @kobyschechter8163
      @kobyschechter8163 День тому

      @@marcodipietro8835 One advantage to selling gasoline by the gallon is that it automatically makes it cheaper. Gasoline in Europe is more than two euros a liter which is absolutely ridiculous. In Australia, gasoline is about two AUD per liter as well. One USA liquid gallon is nearly four liters. Gasoline in NY is about $3.50 a gallon right now or 93 cents a liter. At the start of covid, it was $1.99 a gallon or 53 cents a liter. In June 2022, I paid $5.04 a gallon ($1.33 a liter) and it cost me $55 to fill my tank. I have a 2021 Jeep Compass and it has a 13.5 gallon tank. It’s considered a compact SUV. Now it costs me between $35 and $40 to fill my tank.

    For me, I would prefer the freezing cold over extreme heat. At least in a freezing cold environment, you can put on clothing to make yourself warm. Where as extreme heat will make you sweat a lot, meaning to drink more water, and being nuked by the scorching sun. I used to live in Arizona where the temperature can reach 120°F in the summertime, and when I've visited Alaska in January (And will be going again soon in the wintertime), the coldest was -40°F. Extreme heat + humidity makes it feel hotter. I prefer the dry heat over humidity mostly.
    Good video as always Drew! 🙂

    I've been watching your channel for about a week. I've binged nonstop since discovering it. I am so moved by the kindness and warmth of people from different countries, cultures, races and religions. People are kind. Your channel has singlehandedly (in my case, anyway) restored my faith in humanity. This video, in particular, demonstrated not only that you can knock on a stranger's door in the middle of the night and be welcomed with open arms but even more beautiful, stranger's will come to you in the middle of the night and invite you into their home. There were no questions other than invitations to eat, drink and rest.
    The more videos I see of the the Middle East, the more I realize how drawn I am to the culture. The culture and people are so truly caring and inviting truly like one family.

    I worked on Camp Arifjan in Kuwait for a year, and the heat is something you can't imagine unless you experience it.

    everyone can relate to that friend who does not pick up the phone when you are waiting for him at 12 in the night in the middle of nowhere , but does not leave you stranded in the end, when he shows up drives you on a crazy adventure in the middle of the desert at 1AM to catch Jerboa to barbecue , love friends like that.

    Love the fact that the guy made a really big point of not knowing the guy at the house to stay. Just goes to show that these people are friendly unlike what news stories and tales might lead you to believe.

    Aside from the heat, I looooooooove everthing about this video. I am sooo happy to see the way that person took you in at 1am, I mean the western world Is so different from that culture its amazing to see that there are still good, warm hearted people who would take in a stranger from an other country at 1am. Thanks for the amazing video and Thank you for putting yourself out there. Thank you Drew

    I grew up in Kuwait and I can assure you, it is hotter than any country in the middle east. I've been to qatar, saudi, uae, bahrain but none of them came close to insane heat in kuwait. I remember one day it was around 58 degrees celcius and it was so hot and humid that it became a holiday. Sitting in a car would be a nightmare and the summer was the only time when my dad was fine with me instantly blasting the AC on max. It also gets very cold in winter in kuwait.

      Kuwait doesn't get humid often it's mostly dusty that's why its winter is cooler than other gcc countries aside from Saudi Arabia.

    Also, coming from a country that has scorching hot summers too, yeah, you drink hot beverage on a hot day because your body cools down that way.

    Finally video about Kuwait 😍
    I lived there for 3 years, understand you fully Drew 😄 when summer comes you curse the desert and everything 😄
    But despite immense heat and harsh conditions, it's incredible how Kuwaitis are warm, welcoming, always smiling and in a good mood.
    Can't wait to go there to visit my friends again 💙 (but not during summer definitely 😄).
