This is legendary! Rahzel killing it at the American Beatbox Championships! He was ahead of his time, invented, and worked on his own sound before the digital era and UA-cam. Incredible!
Daniel Z, I understand that this might be unfamiliar territory... before the digital era with regards to the history of recording technology there was the acoustic era and then the electronic era before the digital era, which Rahzel grew up during and he had been doing sounds far advanced than everyone at the time he first did them. There are a lot of vintage Rahzel clips you can find that is just far beyond what any beatboxer was doing then. I still remember the days, even the early 2000s, before UA-cam, when audio clips were the only thing you could dig up for beatboxing that nearly every beatboxer around the world wanted to emulate Rahzel's sound and techniques. That is how influential Rahzel is.. period. Not only that.. Rahzel has kept up with the times.. he has evolved as well and he is far from done. Rahzel even caught the late Buffy of the Fat Boys live. Not many people today can say that. The eras I wrote about are all part of the history of recording technology that any one can look up. I encourage any person to do that when he or she has the chance. History is a big part of what beatboxers do.
Jason Tom OH, I misread your original comment. I thought you meant that this video was made before the digital era, lol. But I agree, this dude learned from noone and ended up the teacher without ever being the student.
Daniel Z, Rahzel consistently acknowledges those before him and those that influenced him from Al Jaraeu, Bobby McFerrin, Michael Winslow, Buffy, Doug E. Fresh, Biz Markie, and Michael Jackson as those were the pioneers before him. He then started to do and come up with a distinctive sound that no one at the time when he first came in the scene did and he won contests and battles. The first competition he won first place in I believe was for $5,000 cash prize (if I remember correctly from what he shared with the community at the International Human Beatbox Convention in 2010) and he went against legendary competition. From there he took the art of beatboxing and gave it his personal flavor and changed it up for beatboxing. He's the first beatboxer in the world to truly take it on a global level and because of that he paved the way for the next generation of beatboxers like myself and others coming up. I've also heard stories about him and the legendary Roots Crew's Black Thought. It's quite epic to hear about what went down. Not only does Rahzel acknowledge those before him.. he also acknowledges beatboxers of today and those making noise today. He has respect for the community and reaches out. The Godfather of Noize... holding it down here in this clip. Love it.
Daniel Z Rahzel was and still is a student of the beatbox game. True pioneers and living legends are. We each have to do our homework in order to take it to another level. Rahzel just developed his sound so well that it became very distinctive. Just like Michael Jackson.. he did not teach himself everything he knew.. he learned from studying the greats before him such as James Brown, Jackie Wilson, Diana Ross, Gene Kelly, Fred Astaire, etc. Respect bro!
Rahzel called beatbox a Beatbox - after Kenny, Winslow, Slick and others. in 2014 we've got kids trying to "do" "dubstep" and all ... Rahzel and Killa Kela Made a history that cant be changed. Have You ever tried to copy Prodigy ? its just impossible ... :)
I swear this guy is actualy a robot, either that or some kind of alien hybrid with 14 pairs of lungs and 7 or 8 sets of vocal cords. f'ing sick octomus prime voice, the whole set blew ma mind. heard him years ago but he's got so much better its ridiculous. good to see the MASTER at work. plus is that jonesy for police academy at the end?
Does anyone know the name of the music he is singing at 12:14? I think, i have heard that when I was still a child... At least it felt kind of nostalgic ^^,

One word, no! Two words: priceless entertainment! Rahzel strikes back for 2012 and hopefully he'll bring more fire in 2013! And pause at 17:18...I think Mr. Masai Electro has done it again! I haven't seen that guy since...well...since I watched him jam it out with Beatboxer Entertainment in 2007. Once again I say " Beatboxing has returned to it's homeland and hometown where the vocal artform was born and raised. If anyone dares to disrespect it, we'll clean yo trash-talkin' mouth!
yep it had same effect on me. how synth does the bass hum he holds a couple of times sat the start sound but it aint. plus the demonic robo voice and laugh love it.
Rahzels flow is insane. A lot easier listening then a lot of competitive beat boxers. Maybe some guys can do cetain elements a little better, but for pure listening enjoyment it's rahzel and beardyman for me.
i´m not a beatboxer myself, but this seems much more consistent than most of the beatboxers do, he just started building it from the beat and added things until my mind exploded
IF you ever develop something that great, stay in the scene for over twenty years, BE the scene, as he did and still is, you might come back and try to criticize some video of him that has been taken in low quality. He's a legend, no matter how much of a smartass you might think you are commenting on this or any video of its kind.
