      Don't know why gold leaf is such a big deal.. Its pretty damn cheap in south Asia.. It makes me laugh when I see videos about the mist,expensive desserts in the world.. Literally costing hundreds of dollars just cos it has a liberal amount of gold leaf on it.. Here's a tip.. Next time you are in or have a friend visit India ask them to pick up some for you.. Gold and silver.. Thats what I do.. I have a huge pack of probably 250 g in the larder right now.. Had it for years since I don't use it that much mainly cos I forget its there! • @Smallpotato1965
      @Smallpotato1965 Рік тому +7

      God, yes! My parents had one of those 'golden' musical bells which played silent night and hung from the ceiling every Christmas. One of my earliest memories is being lifted up to make it play before going to bed. While not a fanciful child, I firmly believed that little men lived inside that clock to make that music.
      My parents have been dead for decades, and that bell now lives my my closet to be hung in my house during Christmas. It's important. It's not Christmas unless that bell has tingled 'silent night'.
      That bell is made from plastic and cardboard, and such musical bells were, apparantly, in vogue in the Fifties, when my parents married and started their family. Anyone else looking at it would see horrid tat, but to me, it's still the magical Christmas clock that four year old me was allowed to make play before going to bed.

    It’s super interesting to me that hunting to you guys in the UK is seen as more of a posh thing that rich people do, whereas in the US hunting is seen as more of a country/rural thing, and the city folk are seen as the more posh and pretentious folks. Trophy hunting is still seen as pretentious here in the US, but at least in my area hunting (for food) is more of a working class rural thing.

      @zakiry8634 4 роки тому +8

      You need to own land or need to get permission from the owner of the land to hunt (hard enough to find the owner of the land), depending on what you hunt you will have to be quite wealthy, in my family we live in the country side and we get all sorts of birds and rabbits through our garden so that's relatively cheap to do

      @tissot233 4 роки тому +10

      Land is immensely valuable everywhere in Europe with 750 million people around similar size land mass as US (without Russia) and has been fully cultivated. Sweden and Finland are essentially the only places in Western Europe where population density is close to US and there hunting is not seen posh, while certainly not lower middle class thing either after all the permits, equipment and needing to be part of a local paid hunting organisation.

      Find the frugality in the way of coffee by adding richness not in caffeinated beans but in pouring out material wealth, honour your guests with your sacrifice and show swiftness in preparation for the unexpected who pass you by. Find honesty in admitting it is nothing more than cheap instant coffee with panache. Be loyal to what otherwise is your cheap daily fare by only adding leaves to enhance its physical beauty not its physical taste. Never forget your self-control because why bother having another cup. The Bushido is strong.
      lastly, find the wisdom in your action to never repeat it and either brew a decent pot of coffee or buy the cheap instant and have ready supply of irish cream to fix it.

    What I LOVE about the marshmallow Advent calendar at $30 is its a product made by a small confectioner, NOT a mass produced factory item and the boxes can be used again for future Christmases, and it's a unique gift.
    For gifts we are making almond cranberry biscotti, and pistachio biscotti with one end dipped in 70% cocoa and then some wee bits of edible gold. Sheets of edible gold are affordable and make for a fun addition to cake, cookie decorations.

      Just in case you were interested, the reason it's viewed this way in the UK is due to what land you can/can't hunt on.
      Here, the only land that you're inherently allowed to hunt on is that which you own, otherwise you'd need the expressed consent of whoever owns the land.
      Even today it'd be a struggle to locate and contact the owners of the type of land you'd typically want to hunt on, let alone find someone willing to grant you that permission (especially given how much is government owned), but in the past it'd have been almost impossible.
      As a result, being able to hunt has basically become synonymous with "owning large amounts of land", or in other words, being extremely wealthy.
