7 years later and I still come back to this and get the same nostalgic feeling from when this art piece of filmography came out Edit: Its been 9 years and imma come back till i cant no more 🤣
What I love about the Japanese car culture is that they don't take it too seriously, they just do what ever they like and enjoy their ride. And at the end of the day if you can get in your car (what ever it is) and really enjoy it that's all that should matter.
I think its not so much that they don't take it seriously but more so the fact that they take their passions very seriously and don't allow their passions to become misconstrued by another persons opinion. (this is just what i think, not a fact)
65EKS65 you have to make your own path. dont copy others, just do what you can do to be yourself. Even if you can only do a little do it the best you can.
TarisRedwing Yeah I have modded my car somehow how it is legal here and I'm able due my young age - (financial issues..) but there would be so much more to do with easy lil things that are illegal here and that is annoying :/ For example in here: no reflective tapes, no leds, no even different color light bulbs except white/xenon "blue".. and the list goes on.
This is one of my fav videos ever. I often come back just to hear that guy in the lambo say "I worked really hard for 15 years and saved everything" and now he owns a lambo... that really inspires me...

I suffered through 10 minutes of garbage hoping something good would happen. Holy crap what a lame video. GoPro if you're going to put up videos, at least watch them first. Sweet Hawaiian shirts guys.
I love how unique everyone's car is from each other. That's because they can express their style without a bunch of people calling their unique taste and style rice like here in the US.
Thank you for mentioning that, I've always loved all types of car culture and accept rice because if it looks cool to someone, that's cool with me. Pretty much what made fast and furious.
+Nine | Advanced Warfare & More! you'll think that until you blow your brains out after your 5th marriage when you realize people only like you for money.
Just want to say, this is probably my favorite video on youtube. I was 13 when I first saw this (20 now) and this video made me fall in love with Japan and Japanese culture all in a single moment. Those 9 minutes and 42 seconds felt like hours, and as a 13 year old kid this place looked like exactly where I wanted to be. Obviously I'm a lot older now and know that Japan isn't just Tokyo Drift and Anime, but I'll always love this video for being what gave me the Japan bug all those years ago. Thanks, guys :>
+Doug Cannon I remember walking the streets past midnight and I saw several Japanese cleaning the streets. I do think what we see in this video primarily takes place in certain parts of Tokyo.
Mandilore Did you see them cleaning like major streets and what about the freeways? They try to keep it black and look new whereas america streets are reuse like maybe every few years or so?
Yup. I know this because a friend of mine from Saitama came to pick me up in his car and we went to Odaiba and Shinjuku (to Tokyo Tower). To get on the "interstate" I guess we could call it, he had this automated sensor machine in his car that would charge him for how long he was on it and he put his card into it.

No... police will not go for a car excessively because in Japan, a driver being chased which if crashes can claim that they felt threatened. So police don't bother unless they feel it's safe to do so. Either way there's no point. Tokyo is scattered with cameras so you'd have a ticket by the end of the day anyway
DrSlizzard Oh, good. Because I downloaded the whole internet from here: w w w dot w3schools dot com (forward slash) downloadwww(dot)htm and couldn't find any RAM

+MrGlossyEdits Hmm yeah, although I agree that it would be interesting, I feel like as a big organization such as GoPro probably can't go into the scene of drifting that goes on in Japan as it, as far as I know, involves a lot more of underground activity and illegally conducting drifting.

A glimpse into the streets of Japan. Neon lights and LEDs, fast cars and chandeliers, custom bikes and exotic designs, an intense presence and a vivid atmosphere.
This is still, after 7-8 years that I was introduced to the video, a fantastic piece of documentary film. Director if you are reading this: you did above good. Cheers mate.
If you haven't understood, at this point in your life, that Japan is all about lights in general and your about to ask the question why they put all the lights on all the cars......... .......Um ya
+qxANGELxp i've lived in tokyo for 5 years, trust me the porn thing isn't a big deal. if those guys relaxed drugs policy it really would be the damn perfect country to live in.
seff4ever Nah if you save and are smart with your money, you can have a lot in the future. Instead of having bad habits and spending little by little here and there, saving it up will grow a small fortune in your bank. Pretty neat actually
Justin Gewargis What i meant was he probably did what you said. But from his appearance I doubt he has a very good job. And had to borrow some to get the car. Basically he would be driving his Lambo on weekends and be eating cup ramen 7 days a week.
***** Not sure what else I'm suppose to look at. And what about you? Calling me dumb from what? UA-cam comments? Sure it's the internet but show some manners.
For all those people saying that they ruined their cars with the whole flashing, colourful neon lights... of course this won't make sense to people outside Japan, because to be honest the whole neon car scene is exclusively a "Japanese Thing". In a country where the majority of their city has bright, colourful neon lights and signs everywhere, the colourful bright aura these cars emit actually makes them blend in with their balanced surroundings perfectly well. Look up images of "Neo Tokyo" and you'll understand a little better.
***** No, I'm talking about the actual quality of the video. The raw footage from the gopro is perfect. And I tried rendering two separate videos, one in sony vegas and one in adobe premiere pro. The renders also looked really good as well. But once uploaded to youtube, they look like absolute crap. Even when watching it in 4K. You can look at the latest video on my channel. That is the one I uploaded in 4K. Compare it to this, mine looks like crap. UA-cam absolutely killed the quality of my video compared to this one, I'm not sure how or why.
***** Your opinion of whats right and wrong is different from those cultures you mentioned. You dont have to appreciate if i may reword my comment, but atleast try to understand how it came to be.
+distractos First of all there is no such thing as "cultural relativism", stop making up words. Secondary, criticizing people that criticize is stupid in its very core. Third, driving around on public streets is nothing you can do under the protection of artistic or cultural freedom. I understand everything is cool to you, but that is common among people that care for nothing.
LOL what a troll xD You learn about cultural relativism if you take sociology in college. Judging by your argument im guessing you never attended college anyways so i don't blame you for your nonsense claim. Cya! good luck working that 9-5 McDonalds job you uneducated piece of shit!
Don't listen to James Manley , he's the perfect example of an underachieving poor attitude. You can do whatever you want to do my man just have to commit @Ryder Henderson
Japan is like adults disneyland! Place where you can do many cool things without others saying "grow up", because we dont need to "grow up" so that we left behind all our kindness and our little kid what we have inside our soul
All you people saying they ruined these cars aren't real car enthusiasts. I come from the truck world and even though these cars aren't my taste I still admire how these tuners didn't settle with stock. There's no personality in a stock car or truck.
First I watched this video 6 years ago and still getting that Japanese atmosphere of street racing with neons everywhere. It's also reminds me Fast & Furious Tokyo Drift. I just watched it again and commenting this...soundtracks suits perfectly!
7 years later and I still come back to this and get the same nostalgic feeling from when this art piece of filmography came out

Responsible to invest, but does it make ypu feel alive like lambo? All about perspective 😎
@@dwdan Well with compound interest and smart investments, there is a chance that you can buy 5 lambos by the end of that 15 year period :)
@@avexionix eh true, but life’s not about the numbers for some people.
I too keep coming back to this video, it's a glimpse into another lifestyle and culture. One that I really like.
Even after six years, this still has to be one of the greatest automotive videos on UA-cam.
old American video about gears is also good
Because of music
japan always unique, even using western product they still put their signature style on it,
It's as western design. It was designed by the guy there, but used others as inspiration.
Dezta93 what u mean "western product"
I mean western product literally without any other meaning
Dezta93 i meant what are you referring to what products specifically
their car

Watching this felt like watching a trailer for the next need for speed. xD
Hahahah you're right!
Na the need for speed movie didn't ruin cars as much as the fast and the furious movies.
sooooooooo true! 😄
More like the next Fast and Furious wow the japanese are so cool and gangster xD
But then you realise it's the same as Nfs 2015 because of the lambo and nakai San
It's three years since I first watched this and it still gives me chills.
4:50 is such an iconic tone shift in the video, keep coming back to this vid year after year.
Damn look at Tokyo, their streets are super clean compare to America. America has gray streets and pot holes and Japan is always up to date.
Major streets. No such thing as a "freeway" in Japan because you have to pay to enter them.
Mandilore WTF? Really?
Yup. I know this because a friend of mine from Saitama came to pick me up in his car and we went to Odaiba and Shinjuku (to Tokyo Tower). To get on the "interstate" I guess we could call it, he had this automated sensor machine in his car that would charge him for how long he was on it and he put his card into it.
always keep going back to this video
I'm so obsessed with Japan in general I forgot to switch to 4K.........What a great excuse to watch the video all over again!

the editing of this video is insane
Go pro stock just went up! With the Olympics!
I've never liked pimped supercars, kind of blasphemy to me. However I don't know if it's due to the japanese nights' atmosphere but in these streets it seems to me it's natural to see a lambo full of LED strips, I mean I've would have been shocked everywhere else in the world to see something like that but in Japan it's like it's in his own elements, it's hard to explain, it's a cultural matter I think, may be it's like mirroring the flashy colored neons of tokyo at night when the city reveals her makeup face.
The image is great, the people we see seems to live fully their passion to motorsports. The music match up so well.
AWESOME video! Thanks guys! Greetings from France.
Agreed. Not a big fan of "rice" I like cars that keep their aesthetics OEM or related aftermarket. However the bosuzoku and "bling" supercar scene fits japan somehow.. I really like RWB's cars and shop in this vid over all else
Bravo sir. That was poetic
Bosozuku (spelled wrong) is cultural, the massive exhaust and ugly ass body kits. I'm not a fan, but I do not hate it just because that's just how Japan is, you'll see the stanced cars like it's a trend now, also in Japan. They have the fancy drift cars and the beat up missile cars. Super cars, basically everything we have. Our culture in America is basically muscle cars, theirs = bosozuku.
i agree do this to a lambo is a massacre.
but in japan with this way of live rebeling to the mass this car is like a provocation to haters whit a owner dont care the bullshit people say arround him,and are inmune to the public critic.
pimping a supercar is blasphemy. Unless its an americans supercar lol.
4:40-5:45 perfect intro for a movie like fast and furious.
Like Tokyo Drift?
Michael Seebran yea parth 2 though
I wish they make a tokyo drift 2 where han appears to have survived and is travelling back with the other tokyo drift people(with lamborghinis pls). Then they see shaw and the team together like wtf and then its up to the writer.
What’s the background music called?
*TRUE*
Basically a bunch of rich people driving super cars with Christmas lights on...
Hahaha is there some sort of problem? Don't try and deny that you wouldn't do that if you could... no one will believe you lol
I would find it much more entertaining going to car meet with people like that, that decorate/modify their cars to each of their individual tastes & not give a shit what everyone else thinks than a meet where everyone has the same stock car, even if those cars were Italian sports/super cars. If you want that then why not just go & gawk around at a dealership?
did you really read what the japanese guy said about working hard for 15 years
to get a lambo
29miguel1996 Idc what he said, if you can afford a super car, you're rich. Also what about the other majority? Did they all "save for 15 years"?
Nick Pallatt Nah i wouldn't put Christmas lights on a super car... Maybe have some fun with colors, some slight modifications, and some sexy interior. Not Christmas lights... no...
Simply the best go-pro video in the entire series. I rewatch this one a few times every year.
Japan car culture is INSANE!
damn as a german i have to be jealous about that japanese guys...
you cant tune cars or bikes like that in germany
+Abensberg naja dafür haben wir die Weltberühmte "Autobahn" :D
+Abensberg Really? And here Americans are jealous of the lack of speed limits in Germany haha
+Abensberg But you can drive 200km/h + at the freeway, legally
+bluAsterisk it has to do with what state your in each state has its own road laws.
Drum Hunter I'm from California, so we're jealous of the Florida guys having the freedom to swap their engines too
This is the coolest video I ever saw in my life
JUST ART, ALWAYS COME BACK AGAIN
No police? No speed limits? Great country
There is, of course. But they do what they want to do, they live as they wish to, whatever police and government can do to stop them :) They are way more free than us ^^
police only go after them if they know they can keep up, otherwise they just staying on the side of the road eating donuts...
+beer van de ende tokyo drift reference?
Gelo nope, something i actually saw in a UA-cam video
No... police will not go for a car excessively because in Japan, a driver being chased which if crashes can claim that they felt threatened. So police don't bother unless they feel it's safe to do so. Either way there's no point. Tokyo is scattered with cameras so you'd have a ticket by the end of the day anyway
People, they only drive during the night, so you better expect some unique neon lights. It's Japan what'd you expect.
+EpicAO good point- they really cant drive during the day with the traffic, no one really sees the cars if they dont light em up...
potatothorn yup
I dont know why they are wasting money to tune those cars, give them neons and shit, when those cars stand out even without that ;-;
Szajong Not during the night...
+Szajong And not in Tokyo...
This video still looks amazing in 2023
Sill one of the best car videos of all time.

This is a world i want to live in. I wish more places had crazy scenes like this.
They found the things in Japan that stands out. This isn't anywhere near average.
This video is totally all around a masterpiece, music, effect, interviews all mixed well, big kudos to everyone that worked on this project really.

Have you ever been to Japan? Tokyo is pretty flashy; almost everywhere else, not so much
***** remember that episode of pokemon that caused massive seizures everywhere it was aired?
***** unfortunately you have a point I put underglow on my honda odyssey next thing I got pulled over by state patrol
skmongol that never happened
Joseph Nunez en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dennō_Senshi_Porygon
Fast cars + Japan + Go Pro Omg all I
too
One more +Rice (those mods tho)
another one: + synthwave
What an awesome video and what an awesome country Japan is.
Still can’t believe I met Akira Nakai and was watching him at work for two days …
If Japan didn't have porn censorship laws, it would probably be the absolute perfect place for me to live.
+qxANGELxp i feel you
+qxANGELxp hahahahahahahaha
+qxANGELxp dont forget strict drug laws too
Timothy Schellin Damn.
+qxANGELxp i've lived in tokyo for 5 years, trust me the porn thing isn't a big deal. if those guys relaxed drugs policy it really would be the damn perfect country to live in.
and thats where underground 2 devs got the idea from.
If this was a trailer for a movie, I would watch the sh*t out of it.
🚗👍
The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift
Iontly This is shot far better than any of the FaTF movies. That and this video actually contained real personalities, not actors.
Indeed! I would too!!
DaCamponTwee Great point!
This is one of the best GoPro videos of all time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
damn that was one of the best videos I've ever seen on youtube. Really makes me want a nice car lol I already got the gopro
You call them ricers, until you see them drift...
+Edwin Rusinskas These are not really racers/drifters, but simple car enthusiasts. The racing scene you mentioned - is an another group.
+A анонимный *ricer not racer
+Edwin Rusinskas lol they arent drifters... why would they add all that weight to their cars
+Edwin Rusinskas none of them are drifters more like enthusiasts/street racers
Asri Anuar i agree with you! But people hate too much!
dude worked hes ass off for 15 freakin years and saved all to buy a car.
thats true
You guys do know what he did right?
as for work?
LUKAZ G what do he do?
He was in Yakuza... -.- (Japanese mafia)
Japan is so interesting, with such a regimented society and history, and some of the craziest and most lively rebels on the block.
The only thing thats going through my head is how they afford this.
Danny Dang the guy said he saved up for 15 years. Probably still in debt.
seff4ever Nah if you save and are smart with your money, you can have a lot in the future.
I've seen that guy in other documentaries, he was affiliated with the Yakuza gang. It's why he mentioned he doesn't get into trouble anymore.
Nice work! This is a killer short film!
Lipton Tea I think it's beautiful...totally piss about how neon lights on cars are illegal here
not exclusive to Japan. Also in Arab countries
Japan to me is like a dream place for street racers, Lambos, Porsches, Nissan, Mitsubishi, the perfect place to own dem beast-ass cars.
this is by far my favorite gopro video ever, awesome filming and editing 👌
I must be doing something wrong... The 4k video from my hero 4 uploaded to youtube looks like 720p compared to this.
***** *you're
MichaelV maybe it's recorded with something else, but they just advertise it as gopro4
Pretty sure you gotta pay to be a UA-cam partner to get super high quality videos.
Pretty sure you gotta pay to be a UA-cam partner to get super high quality videos.
This is just like my Japanese animes!
they aren't "yours" ;) Many people watch anime.
Shaddeh Animes are never this fast.
Shaddeh nice mgs quote
I love how Morohoshi-san doesn’t shy away from his past. As someone with a criminal history that really motivates me.
I love this video. It's long overdue for a sequel!
1:22 isnt that the guy from Need for Speed ? :-d
+Daniel Franz Morohoshi! Got some real crazy people in NFS, and they're real. At least the top guys are.
+Lundi† The Icons, yea.
Yep its Morohoshi this guy is crazy with lambos, also the guy with the RWB Porsches Nakai San
+Lundi† all of the people that are on the cover of NFS 2015 are real life people
+TheAsianKid and actual criminals, morohoshi is a criminal in japan, watch the amazing documentary made on him, you can't find it on youtube
So many people here with lack of cultural relativism. Stop introducing your opinions of culture and try to understand and appreciate others.
All Asian places are nice.
***** Your opinion of whats right and wrong is different from those cultures you mentioned. You dont have to appreciate if i may reword my comment, but atleast try to understand how it came to be.
***** I like how you ask me not to judge, yet you do the exact same thing.
+distractos
First of all there is no such thing as "cultural relativism", stop making up words.
The energico, the roads, the attitudes. It's the future, it's Japan.
My Internet literally crashes when I try to watch in 4K , I cry
....same here, inpossible to watch 4k.....where are the good old days with 144p ? .....joke... I think 1080p is more than enough !
computer probably can't process 4K videos.
***** you need a 4k screen to actually see 4k anyways. the resolution of your screen probably isnt higher than 1920x1080.
Magic Sword got some badass music....
That Porsche guy is a Beast
His name is Akira Nakai San.
With all these hours japanese work it's no wonder they have such sweet rides. I commend them for enjoying what time they have.
So Tokyo Drift wasnt just a movie? :O
i love cars and this has inspired me to save money to buy my dream car
go for it bro
Dat Boi how is a Lamborghini a ricer
Its not the Lambo its how they put bright neon and crap on it.
Lol, just the insurance and maintenance on a Lamborghini will be more than you can afford
Don't listen to James Manley , he's the perfect example of an underachieving poor attitude. You can do whatever you want to do my man just have to commit @Ryder Henderson
honestly I think this is awesome and what they love is awesome
Japan is like adults disneyland! Place where you can do many cool things without others saying "grow up", because we dont need to "grow up" so that we left behind all our kindness and our little kid what we have inside our soul
This is what Need for Speed should have been like.
cheers for magic sword
+Step One Indeed.
This Vid got made me aware of Synthwave and I went all the way down that Rabbit hole. Thanks for making this Vid..
All you people saying they ruined these cars aren't real car enthusiasts. I come from the truck world and even though these cars aren't my taste I still admire how these tuners didn't settle with stock. There's no personality in a stock car or truck.
I agree
Exactly. I love trucks also. But in japan, cars like these go with the culture just like in Texas lifted trucks
well said
build what you want, not what they like
This video is great. japan looks beautiful. The machines are crazy. Production quality, perfect.
The adrenaline is pumping.
Best video on UA-cam
the music the cars...the video!
The car at 6:50 with the face looks so sick...
Lol it's a Ferrari cmon man if you like cars you gota step up the identification game.
Come on Osprey ... surely someone can like the look of something such as a car without having to know what it is?
GuffbagZ Ferrari's are really recognizable though so....
shark mouths ftw
Mecha Charizard Ferrari 458 italia
This was fantastic! I love the narration over the remarkable and wonderfully edited footage. I also love how you did your subtitles. Great job!
From time to time I come back and watch this video. It's my favorite video of all time, and I wont get tired of it anytime soon
This video introduced me to synthwave music! Thank you so much! Now I'm on a whole retro / 80s trip 😎
As someone from germany I am on the edge of my seat
Man, the new Hotline Miami kart racer is looking great!
I watched this in tears. This is Japanese car culture.
Japanese women are gorgeous.
Until the makeup comes off LOL
mrzazzaable Rofl haha
DEFINITELY AMERICAN WOMEN...MIDDLE EASTERN WOMEN TOO...OH YES....MICKSTER BOONE
Adiatma Sukwirahmanta why do you people bread so much? And kill anything thats endangered?
Adiatma Sukwirahmanta Don't reply to the ignorance. It's all bait.
This is like one of my dreams, I'm a little scared because of the accuracy tbh
Japan is the definition of living life to the fullest. Hope someday to get a Aston Martin Vantage, even though that might not happen.
No, it's really not.
The Most Interesting Man in the World
Yeah..I'm just looking at this part of it. lol
i want a Nissan GTR $100,000 and i Lamborghini Aventador $300,000 to $500,00
SHARKANATOR 72 You don't have to give us the prices. lol
i did any ways bro
First I watched this video 6 years ago and still getting that Japanese atmosphere of street racing with neons everywhere. It's also reminds me Fast & Furious Tokyo Drift. I just watched it again and commenting this...soundtracks suits perfectly!
