I love how comic the part where the Sun is almost in touch with the Earth, and the instant that happens the Sun changes from dying star to superheated blue giant in a few seconds.
It's like the eldritch God has been ewakened and wanted to mortals to see them ascending before they eyes.
The way Gray says "Oh God" is also too funny, just pure fear and like "I fucked up"
My guess is the game thought it should up the mass too for a second so it just went insanely hot for a second and then it went “oh right, i dont have to do math”, then it just died inside even more

Oh! I finally get to use some of my obscure space knowledge! So, the things that start happening from 12:30 ish are kinda similar to an actual thing that happens in space: Brown Dwarfs! Brown dwarfs are, basically, failed stars. They're large celestial bodies made of gas, usually starting at several times the size of Jupiter. At these sizes and masses, the gas begins to be heavily compressed and squeezed, creating heat. However, brown dwarfs don't have *quite* enough mass for that pressure to start causing nuclear fusion of hydrogen into helium. Because of that, they give off significantly less energy, and no light. The tidal forces and high pressures can still give heat to orbiting bodies however (the same thing happens on a smaller scale between planets and moons), meaning that, even lacking the light of true stars, they do have the potential to support (some probably very strange) forms of life. Absolutely NO clue what happened that suddenly switched the sun back on near the end though

That's the equivalent of the surface temperature. Starting at 10:58, you can't call it a dwarf as you enter the range of a giant star.
So, small red giant, brown giant, and giant up to 18:26 when it disappear/dissolves into nothingness.

Where is red giant
With a surface temperature of 820K, the Sun can no longer emit visible light, just infra red. It's now a brown giant.
So if the sun reaches 820k temperature (you did not specify the unit) it just turns into a poop ball.

The extreme differences in the temperatures around the 9 minute mark is probably because you've effectively cooked the ozone layer off the planet, so daytime is super hot at the equator and night time is super cold. Ice is building up at the poles because it stays colder than it originally was much more of the time.

No supernova. It just felt apart, and the hotter inner material gone visible, but i think there was numerical error too.
There is not enough mass for a supernova. Even less so density.
I think the sun started going up in temperature because there was way too little mass for such a big volume. The usual density of the sun is 1408 kg/m^3, the density of air is 1 kg/m^3. The density of the sun at an .745 au radius would have been at 0.0003 kg/m^3. Which would be so gasseus that the molecules would hardly ever collide, and what ever light coming from the fusion at the core would just go straight through.

You accidently replicated how the solar system will sun will grow to Red Giant which will at its largest fill Earth's orbit. It will finally collapse into a red dwarf.
It will become a white dwarf.
Almost.
Its core will contract and get hotter while its shell will inflate and cool down, which almost engulfs Earth. During that it will lose about a quarter of its mass leaving 75%. Then the core suddenly expands, while the shell will slowly contract and heat up again, only for it to later on inflate massively and cool down, while the core keeps contracting back into a degenerate state. This time it will engulf the Earth, until it basically sheds its shell and a white dwarf remains, that has about an eighth of the original mass.
Im scared for Gray more and more with each upload.

If you don't touch the temperature, it will continue going down, keeping the luminosity the same. Luminosity is what really counts. It would have turned the entire solar system into a blowout sale.

Well, when they get to the point that there's only iron left in the core, the star rapidly collapses upon itself since there's no radiation to push outwards. What possibly happened here could be a quasi (I think that's how it's spelt) star formed from the large radius and a black hole formed in the center of the star. I have no idea if the game even simulates that, but it does heat the star up an incredible amount

The Core of our star contains a nucleus of heavier elements that have been fused under its own intense gravity. When @GrayStillPlays increased the radius of The Sun but with more Saturated Fat above a certain threshold, gravitational binding no longer held the nucleus of The Sun but with more Saturated Fat together and energy release from nuclei splitting instantly heated up the star.
In short, he created the necessary geometrical circumstances for a Stellar Nova to occur from that point in our Star's expansion.

I'm just gonna say this right now: Whenever Gray starts off and shows us the temperature of the planet, I instantly look for my hometown of Las Vegas to see if they made it more... accurate. The charts in this game show about a 90 degree temperature during the summer for that area, and, to quote Gray, that sounds like FRESH BREWED LIES, because It got up to a HUNDRED AND TWENTY DEGREES here in Vegas this summer.

fun fact, due to the astronomically bizarre way our universe works (pun intended) the planets would still continue to orbited the spot the sun was at due to gravity (gravity waves specifically) only moving at the speed of light, meaning they would effectively be orbiting a phantom star of sorts.
now i am in no means a credited source on this so take what i say with a grain of salt and check it out for yourselves, but science is so much weirder and cooler the fiction

It would probably break the game. That's the issue. Remember that one board where it warned him saying "don't look at the windmills or the game will die". Or something like that. I think it was where he drove across a bridge made of windmills. All the windmills would have to not be moving. Or maybe different items would have to be shaped like windmills.

*Day 137 of asking... Challenge for Gray: Try and complete a challenge with no checkpoints that take 9 hours to complete. The twist is that the board disappears after you touch it, and in order to reset it, you need to restart the board (before anyone complains... Yes, there will be parts of the board where Gray can have a break, and yes, there will be a teleporter at the end, where Gray has 2 chances to get the correct road path correct (Which won't despawn) if he fails at getting the correct path correct then he just need to restart the map. AND... yes, it is possible, and what I mean by two hours is that no matter what difficult board he plays, would probably take 2 hours, but Zach just edits out most of it, so it's suitable for a short yet entertaining clip) Yes, there will be a 10 second timer before the board slowly disappears and there will be parts of the board that won't disappear and there will be a script at the end where it teleports Gray to the beginning and resets the board, and there'll be 3 teleporters, he'll have to guess correctly, one crashes his game, one forces his game to force restart, and the final teleporter gets him the win. (Just kidding, all teleporters are guaranteed to get him the win, there will be a text saying there's one teleporter that works)*

The reason for the switch to getting cooler has to do with the ratio between luminosity and the surface area of the star to the energy content and volume of energy density. Since energy density is perportional to the radius cubed and luminosity is perportional to the radius squared, when the ratio between the two in natural units is perportional to 1 they are equal. Above 1, the perportion of something cubed becomes larger than something squared. But, below 1, the perportion squared is larger. So luminosity can only increase so far before it starts to lose its influence til eventually becoming negligible.
