Don I’m sorry to hear about your recent struggles. As an American Coaster Enthusiast who has attended several media days (Banshee & Mystic Timbers) and Coasterstocks I have to say that you made those events so special and were such a great host. KI just isn’t quite the same without you and you missed at the park that’s for sure.
I was shocked that Kings Island didn’t reclaim the Best Kids Area award. Don, I hope you get better soon. Meeting you at the park a couple years ago was a highlight for me. Hang in there! 🙏
Don, I don't know you and haven't met you, but you are in my thoughts and prayers!! I am so sorry that you are struggling with your eye, and hope you can regain your vision!! Kings Island has been my homepark for 45+ years, and I am grateful for all that you have done for our park!!🙏😍🎢🎉
I have three standout memories at KI. 3 was the time I stepped away from my group of friends and took a sunset marathon on Vortex. They didn’t want to ride it again that day and I took 6 laps. It was my nirvana that night. First day in the park since childhood and was getting to ride my favorite ride. 2. Marathoning vortex when I knew it would be final rides before its removal and watching them put it to bed for the night. #1 best memory. Friends and I were the only riders on the beast for the last train of the night. It was pouring rain and we got utterly drenched. It was spectacular
Don, sorry to hear about your medical scare and hope your vision recovers. Its very hard not to feel like a victim when things like this happen to you and holding your head up high and not allowing yourself to feel like a victim shows what a positive person you are.
Great to see Mystic Timbers up there after all of the complaints about length and everything when it was announced. Glad to see you back at it Don. Keep up the good work, guys.
Don, wishing you a fast recovery! Hopefully something is figured out to help your vision improve. It was disappointing how Camp Snoopy was presented vs what we got. I wish they would have done a full overhull of the kids area. Example: Character Carousel is the same name from Hannah Barbara when they actually had cartoon characters on there. Fix that. There are still rides there that i rode as a kid, and i am nearly 43 years old. If they want that award, things like that need upgraded.
Don, you don't know me from a hole in the ground but we don't live far apart and you are welcome to join us on any theme park trip we go on, plenty of room. Don't let Drs tell you you won't see out of that eye, miracles happen everyday.
I have not had a chance to ride Phoenix, but seeing it was voted #1, I watched a POV of it. Am I missing something? It looks like a fun ride, but what makes it stand above Voyage and Beast?
I have ridden it, and ill tell you. Absolutely nothing. Voyage, Mystic, Ghostrider, El Toro, Ravine Flyer II, are all MUCH better than Pheonix. Same thing with Fury 325. Great coaster. NOT the best coaster. GTAs are way too GP in the voting. Maybe ACE should make awards for the enthusiasts. At least those would be more believable.
As a tack-on addition (which is what it felt like to me based on the late, unexpected announcement), Camp Snoopy is a fine addition. As an attempt to actually win anything, it’s definitely underwhelming.
Glad to see youre doing well, Don. GTAs are still a joke to me though. There is no way that Pheonix, and Fury 325 SHOULD be voted as best coasters. Im sorry, both are great rides, but far from the best.

Camp/Planet Snoopy needs shade! Its miserable as a parent waiting in the hot midwest sun!
