OMA founder Jonathan Weiss explains the name Oswalds Mill Audio and shows the vintage theater equipment (from the 1930's) that he uses as the reference system for all OMA products.
Jean's set I didn't need but other than that, perfect comment about this guy and OMA I just ran into because of watching gr research vids. OK I like the Jean jacket and the whole stone mill thing. :--)
@@twj1964 I am actually starting to think of moving and looking for something like the mill. 2 years ago I was hoping to buy a Masonic Hall but missed it.
I wonder your speakers sound so good. Common Sense applied , and then brought into today. Very smart and in reality no one is producing anything better than you. I’m amazed. If I hit the lottery I would have a pair of your speakers ! Just Fantastic ! 🇺🇸👍
Hi Johnathan, Thank you for the walk around “The Oswald Mill” which is an amazing build. I love what you have done in collecting the vintage/professional audio and early cinema sound systems which always sounded better than what most people could ever hope to own at home. You are correct in saying that there is no way forwards without knowing - where you have come from. This is without doubt the way forwards unless you have some revolutionary new concept or design that hasn’t seen the light of day yet. I love what your doing and cannot wait to hear some of your equipment in Australia. Once we’re over the COVID crisis, I’ll make a point of visiting you or your showroom in person. Keep up the good working.
ElectroVoice made bass horns in the 1970s that look an awful lot like the RCA cabinets. The EVs also use Phenolic mid and tweet horns and sound really good but I bet those RCAs sound amazing
I would love to hear some high quality of some of your systems playing. Obviously it wouldn't do justice to the quality but these are some of my favorite videos and I'm sure other fans would agree!
I already love this speaker system ive not seen before. When it comes to form & function, I'm 100% sure I'd like the function & form is fashion related & if I had the space, I'd love it's looks also, because they're purely practical for the sound the system would reproduce. I've heard how those who listen to or have field coil magnetised drivers wouldn't dream of going back to passive permanent magnet drivers. And the best speakers I've heard so far, have just happened to be the highly efficient type, with a life-like immediacy in sound quality i'd not hear on inefficient types (i.m.experience.) ....so i'd bet this system sounds like the very best possible in a suitably sized room.
To sum up... 6:47 Back in the 30s and 40s these giants of industry made these products. So we said ME TOO but we're not making ME TOO products, just to be clear. We're name dropping people and brands and wine. That's all.
hello Oswald I am alejandro massey dj from argentina, friend from dante choi,I like and love your speakers and video, I learn about your history of horns,i send a email, you received thanks for your time sincerely & respectfully
I am so enjoying these video essays Jonathan, thank you for taking the time to make them.
Amazing video, equipment and jeans set. This man has a style .... you just have to look at his work, his environment ........ Rare in today's world.

I’m amazed at how the old speakers have and are at holding their own when it comes to sound !

Man I would work for OMA for no salary just to be around these treasures!
where can I find the video on the tube amplifiers?
audio from the 1930s to 1970s sounds better than audio from 1980 to 2023. that's a certainty.
Is it a tweeter by Magnat ?
I used to use one of the original "Corona" plasma tweeters made by Otto Braun. Great HF driver for sure. Is this one of them?
Yes it is!
These field coils DONT PLAY, thanks for this really a handful of people are doing this.
7:46 looks like you've got some mice there!
Lets hope they don't built a nest inside on of your speakers!

A lot of credit goes to Bill Woods with some of the design concepts there..
As J said, far more than a lot. All the oma horns.
😂 that bat sh’t comment. You might have just won me over!
If the DNA of OMA is cinema equipment then why not produce a home theatre setup?
First dislike😉
I think it's a bit of an exaggeration to say stuff today, money no object, dosnt best this vintage stuff. As cool as it is.
