I know it’s old but it’s definitely gold. Brilliant demonstration of the old girl and with that kind of mechanical sympathy you are able to display she will be good for a while longer yet.
Watched a lot of your touring video's and DIY video's and always enjoyed them.
Watching this video, though, the thing that really struck me is just how much Jack's driving skills have improved.
The way Jack was getting Molly through obstacles just made it look effortless.

That obsticle at the 6 min mark with the white 90.. Im 90% sure he didn't have difflock engaged as you could see both front wheels spinning and neither rear wheel.
I believe he did have center diff lock engaged but having no axle lockers means it still slips when cross axled.
@@JKoverland I was talking about the centre difflock.. I was watching carefully and couldn't say 100% for sure but I don't think that real left wheel was spinning when the front two were. This means that centre difflock is not engaged as all the power was going out the front two wheels. if it was engaged, then cross axle would be possible with the opposite wheels fixed/spinning which is not what I saw here.
The thing is, its all fine failing to get up an obstacle because someone forgot to engage difflock, but if they forget to engage it and spin the wheels too fast then its going to toast your transfer box and leave you stranded.
@@Scotian280 I'm wondering if that Disco 2 has a center diff lock feature. A Disco 2 with a CDL is a formidable beast.
@@mikeb53 Th e later disco 2s (post-facelift) didn't have the difflock still. my early disco 2 I had a while back did have it. You can buy a diff lock lever for them and retrofit it and yes, centre diff lock and traction control is awesome.. What those electrics stop working (by knocking or getting but or oil on the sensor) the disco 2 suddenly gets the offroad capabilities of a ford fiesta!!
@@Scotian280 the 2003 MY facelifts didn't have the internals for it, but some of the 2004 MY facelifts did either as standard on the ES premium, or optional on the pursuits and landmarks.
The vast majority of the pre facelift discos 2's did have the internals, they just needed the linkage to use it. My D2 is a 2003 model I retrofitted a CDL (internals and linkage) to it. Because, despite not having the internals, the SLABS ECU in all facelifts is programmed anyway to use diff lock and TC together. Even if you did lose traction control if you had a diff lock, you'd be just as good as a Disco 1 still.
I need to get up to the Peaks soon looks so good. My 110 doesn’t have a cool stripe like Molly but I do have 4 split doors for old school 80s vibes

Does the Pajero have centre and rear diff lock because it was really embarrassing those land Rovers. Only seemed to be putting in half the effort.

Pajero FTW. I had this same vehicle as the Montero in the USA. Deceptively capable. "Off-roaders" frequently underestimate how good it is. Looks like yours has front and rear lockers?
Yes totally! Yep front and rear 😁
front and rear lockers really make a huge difference, as demonstrated here against that 90 that clearly doesn’t have them.

I think AT can be good on rocks not worn out ones mind. She did indeed as it much nicer to crawl rather than scramble in my opinion 😁

@@JKoverland oh thats why it tackles those trails like it was nothing. i always got highcentered on my pajero same as yours but only 3 doors. im quite struggling to find a locker on my mk1. it would be nice if you could tell me where to get those. a fan from philippines 😁

TBH,all three vehicles proved there worth.. your man in the disco as got good knowledge, maybe a school boy error in the defender but we've all done it lol.but Mollie with no drama's. .loved it.
