I have 5 months left of my PhD candidature and I must admit that procrastination and addiction to social media are still my huge challenge 😢 Thanks Andy
Great video. My biggest problem is getting over the hump when it's time to address feedback. Sometimes it feels like I'm going up a hill and can never reach the top.
i procrastinated through my entire PhD , the procrastination was excrutiating and its becasue my supervisors are a nightmare to work with. I'm at the end of this journey now and i have to put my thesis together so this video came and the right time!
Andy....honestly, one of the best videos to overcome procrastination and keep oneself focused in the writing process. Awesome content...Please keep going.
I’ve had to resubmit my thesis after a hard time writing while being 8months pregnant. It’s been tough trying to get my head in that space again especially trying to restructure my work and make necessary amendments. Procrastination has been my bread and butter 😢. I’m giving myself till December to re-submit. Even though I’ve opened my work several times and made progress, I’ve fallen back to old habits. Andy spoke about stimuli control which I’m going to try and cognitive restructuring 😁 Thanks Andy… 👍🏾
@Ziba Zibs I can’t imagine what that was like for you, but I deeply empathize as I have chronic spinal condition that requires ALOT of medical interventions. So learning to find time to do schoolwork, doc appointments and time to simply “Be” and experience the rest of life has been challenging ( along with imposter syndrome while being at a PWI). I’m in my second year, and your story is inspiring because it can be done. You are doing it despite the challenges, you are still working towards your goal. Keep going !
@@ManifestGloryNow look at you too👏🏾👏🏾.. still pressing on!!. Thank you so much and Well done too. I’m wishing you success all the way!! Imposter Syndrome!!! I can relate 💯 but I’d encourage to celebrate every win!! Stay resilient!! You’ve got this 💪🏾. Congratulations in advance 💃🏼💃🏼!!
Really like the 'start-slow' tip! I completely agree - I have found that I need to 'warm up' for writing similarly to warming up for a run by starting slow and doing easy exercises like quick journaling of what I need to do before diving into the deep work
I thought it said curses at first xDD Thanks, Andy. I truly need this! Currently on my path to do a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering on Nature-based water management using microalgae. I'm happy with your videos as they have helped me to publish my first Q1 journal.
Hi Andy, big fan of your videos. I'm from the UK and am looking to do a PhD in Australia (Uni of Queensland). Do you have any advice on this, and what did you find were the main pros and cons of doing it there as opposed to in the UK? Thanks
Hi Andy Thank you for sharing your knowledge and ideas. I went to the newsletter link but I didn't see any option to sign up. Is there something not working on your website? Thanks
Hi Andy. I have a question. Not related to that video but I wanted to ask how to explain you dropped out from a PhD program if you apply for a second one. I dropped out from a lab which I could see that I would not have achieved anything. I was 6 months there, I made a huge progress (some people from other labs confirmed that I did the same progress they did in a year or two) and despite that, they told me I was not progressing enough. Because of that and several other issues I dropped out. I am now trying to go to industry but I feel a little bit bad if I don't try the PhD again st some point in my life but I am afraid I will be asked for the first time I tried and being rejected. Do you have any video about that? Or candidates who pursued a PhD being older? thank you
And yet again, I find myself procrastinating by watching videos about “How to stop Procrastination”.
I had this sitting under my “watch later” list for a good while, telling 😂

Appreciation from Uganda, East Africa.
Thank you so much! Amazing content 👏🏻
thank you for your insightful video. I like your idea about "Failure is the process... Academia is all about failing and learning"
Well timed… currently grinding through a mid-term assessment in deep learning….
You're amazing, thanks for these tips Andy!

Very nice and relevant video
Thank you! I need this video!
Thank you Andy! Right on time 🙏🏿
Thank you Andy this is really helpful!
great video!
it is so essential to just do work, even 90min of "Deep Work Writing" per day is enough, as long as its done (almost) everday :D

Try with a different browser - sometimes that is the issue!

I am really interested in how much people procrastinate during writing articles about procrastination xD
Ohh god I procrastinated somuch so it took a whole week to completely watch the video.
I don't know if you hate running you can call it a hobby 😬
The failure stuff is better said than done tbh
Procrastinating by watching this video
Fuck man I am doing PhD is very stressful
