Hey everyone! let me know your thoughts about this camera! There was so much to talk about it so naturally some details were left out. I'll update this list later: 1. The Pocket 3 is not waterproof and it doesn't have any IPX rating. 2. Battery handle is included with the creator combo, but can also be purchased for $69 3. If you use Slow motion it will shoot at 120fps BUT your video file will be at 30fps 4. In vertical mode, timelapses have a maximum resolution of 2.7K 5. Active tracking has a long range. I was able to use it at 30m, but using at longer distances it gets less reliable 6. The DJI Mic 2 Transmitter test by the end of the video was made with some heavy winds (Internal microphone at that location picks up all the wind hitting the camera) 7. Continuous recording will result in videos split: around 43 minutes at 24fps and 20 minutes at 60fps
@@mikeinjapan2004 it’s not going to outperform a bigger camera but they are quite good for the camera size. I tend to ignore photo mode in small cameras but this one is pretty good
Good review except for one thing. I own two Pocket 2s I use for podcasting interviews. They are great. But I take a lot of pictures with them as well. At 64mp with the pocket 2 i can stop and take a picture mid record and have great detail that I will never get extracting a frame from a a video clip. But they went to a 1" censor (AWESOME) but dropped the camera down to 9.4mp? WTF BATMAN! I am gonna have to pass. But good video, and liked.
Thanks for your kind words about the video itself. Regarding the picture quality and MPs, I'm under the impression that the Pocket 2 uses pixel binning, and I know that you can still get large sized images but megapixels is not something that I would rely on to determine the quality of the camera. There are other factors that will influence the output, and just as an example, having 64megapixels doesn't mean that is is better than a camera with ~20mp.... It's going to be interesting to test them both (P2 and P3) side by side, which I didn't when I tested the Pocket 3. I'll try to do something in the next few days :) Thanks!
Otto is right, pocket 2 uses pixel binning. The 64mp option can only really work in solid lighting. The 16mp shot should look better in mid to low lighting (less noise due to being able to use 4 pixels to gather light). Even in bright shots, the 16mp image will likely be on par with the 64mp shot and take a lot less space. Now the question is really moving from a 16 mp pocket 2 shot versus a type 1 sensor (they are not actually 1") 9.4 mp pocket 3. I suspect the pocket 3 will do better in lower light due to less iso noise. Both in bright light... may not matter unless doing large format printing.

Hi! Great video! I started looking up information about my Dji Pocket 2 today to learn how to make more cinematic videos and found out that there's a third one now. To answer your question at 4:54, I would say that I hope Dji Pocket 3 is the one on the right. The colors are more vibrant on that one. Let me know if it's a hit or a miss.
This Camera sets a new standard. It's super impressive. Even the OSMO Pocket 1 impressed me. But this one is simply mindblowing when it comes to low light.

you have a good point, that some people don't like that and the aperture can't be adjusted. But "blurry" backgroung is a feature that lots of people that don't have a mirrorless camera or one that can adjust the background are trying to "mimic", they buy apps to blur it, and that's why iPhones have been doing their portrait and cinematic modes with a huge acceptance

I got payed $0 and I don’t consider myself an influencer. You should check my other videos, if there is anything wrong with a product I call it out, not playing hyping games. No other videos mentioned the limitations that I did as far as I’m aware. So, not really sure what you are talking about getting payed and what not
First off the videos are not compatible with iOS when it comes to the mimo app as but are available on iOS file. Secondly the second one I received had mechanical issues as it was a constant rattle machine. It’s a complete garbage camera especially at the price point that we actually don’t need. my iPhone 14 Pro Max takes better low light videos.
These cameras don’t work well in dry sandy or dusty environments. My pocket 2 the camera consistently locks up and forces me to use a toothbrush and isopropyl alcohol to get it working again.
@@OttoJulian_ the main issue for me is that they don’t support these cameras for long. They are in a hyper competitive business so constantly push different cameras which means they don’t have resources to extend features and the like. And they could have used backwards hardware from the pocket 2 I feel like the do it all handle etc.

re-visiting these series of POCKET-3 ones as i need to start using it since it have not opened for last 20days , due to family emergency flown to hyderabad
they are reading the specs and not testing properly (or they don't even have the product). The specs and website talk about 4K 120fps, which is correct, but you can't select 120fps inside the regular video mode, so the video generated will be a 30fps video already slowed down. Not sure if I am making myself clear :)
Frustrated. I have been a loyal customer of DJIs. Within the past 3-4 years I have purchased - both the gen 1 and 2 Pocket; 2 DJI Osmo gimbals and 3 DJI drones. And yet there is no ability (like Go Pro and others) for returning / loyal customers to purchase other then "stand in line" None of the local retailers have the Pocket 3 and DJI can't deliver until Thanksgiving (ironic?). But they offer $10 credit for my loyalty.
I can imagine how you feel. I was going to start this video saying "hurry up and get this because they are going to be sold out for a while" but I didn't want to sound like a product hyping UA-camr. I hope you get yours soon enough!
It's been an odd ride bouncing around between Best Buy and DJI. Within 24 hours Best Buy went from none being available to having one shipped to the local store next week. So, I swallowed by pride and paid full price and ordered it from the box store as I have yet to hear back from DJI Support Thanks for responding - your posts are always excellent with no extraneous content / comments - just to the point!!! @@OttoJulian_
In my opinion it can co-exist as long as its balanced. Maybe it was a bit too loud in this video but that was due to a technical issue with my microphone.
Still waiting to see if more people try to guess, at this point after a few days I can't even remember which one is which lol. I'll have to go back and check it out

I love this! I have had the Pocket 2 for a long time, and use it on all my YT Channel videos, and it does very well. BUT - it's finicky with the app sometimes. With this new screen, I won't need to use the App at all. I've already ordered it, and can't wait!
oh and there is something else, if you want to use the app you no longer have to physically attach the phone to the camera, it's not all done wirelessly without having to buy an extra piece of equipment :)

Otto, could you record a video for UA-cam, like that one you have above with the same look (you talking to the camera in that room and with that audio quality), with the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 ?? If so, how??
yeah you could use the Pocket 3 to do talking heads. You will need their DJI MIC 2 or some other external microphone. It will not look exactly the same because I'm using a full frame camera, but under the right situation you will get very good results
@MrGheller Natural light will help a lot, and I also think that the RGB lights that I have in the background don’t look too pleasing with the Pocket 3. If you watch the part where I show the drone (when I talk about product showcase focus) that’s at night only with my main lights but I opted to not use color light in the background

Are you sure it has tracking when using it as a web cam. Because some other video said it didnt. And can you use the wireless mics that work with the Action 4 with the pocket 3. And can you use the wireless mic that comes with the pocket 3 with an action 4 ?
Hello Jonathan, do you remember where you saw that about webcam not having tracking? Below my answers: 1. Yes it does have tracking when using it as a webcam. Selfie mode will trigger automatically, and in the rare case that someone uses the webcam towards the front, tracking can be activated by double tapping on the screen 2. Wireless mics that work with the Action 4? so if you have a USB-C receiver and a transmitter, then the answer is yes, but I can't confirm that every single brand will work 3. You can't use the DJI Mic 2 transmitter with the Action 4 because it doesn't have a built in receiver like the Pocket 3 does. It would be possible if DJI creates a receiver for this microphone Hope this answers your questions, have a great day

HDR is done under the HLG color profile, but it's a flat profile similar to D-LOG M. In other words there is no processed HDR video mode. I'm not sure if that's what you are looking for
@@OttoJulian_ I don’t understand your answer. Does this render HDR or not? “Flat profile”? I would love to have this camera. But I would need it to shoot 4K, 60 fps, and HDR. Is this camera good enough?
let me try to explain using other words. HDR comes in the form of HLG. DJI says "Pocket 3 supports 10-bit HLG video recording, allowing for a higher dynamic range directly on HDR-enabled equipment.". Most cameras that we use that have an "HDR" mode will render the file for you, you don't need to edit or use an HDR enabled equipment. The HLG color profile will look flat (look at the boat on my video around 2:00 ). If you see any videos using HLG, they are not directly from the camera, people have to edit them (color grade) using a video software like premiere pro or davinci.
@@OttoJulian_ Thanks, Otto. The only HDR capable video camera I have used is my iPhone 12 Pro Max, and I use the editing software on my phone. It works for 4K, HDR, 60 fps. But I would like a better, more stable camera with more storage capacity and more lens capabilities than my iPhone. I never heard of HLG. So HLG encodes the additional colors? And then I would use editing software to render HDR from that? I need to read up on all this. Thanks for your help. I would still like to see some sample 4K HDR (after editing) from this camera.

good point! I'll consider that...although it's digital zoom and not a lot of zoom so I can't find the image falling apart or a particular reason to report it
When I mentioned the zoom, that video is using the zoom on the Pocket 3 (Maybe I didn't make it so clear). The zoom is digital, it's not a lot (of zoom) and the image doesn't fall apart (I can't notice anything that makes me feel like I should report that).

I got my Pocket 3 yesterday and was wondering if you could do a vid or reply as to the best settings for FOV walking videos in daylight and night time? Should i purchase ND filters for it? etc... hey there! you are welcome! I have some videos lined up for the next weeks. Quick recommendation is to use 4K, 24fps, stick to the 180 degree rule if you are using ND filters (I have a set on the way but haven't tested properly). If you don't get ND filters then exposure should be auto, and I like to limit the maximum ISO to 800. For walking videos you might want to use Default Rotational speed. Not sure if you are going to color grade your videos, if not, use normal color profile, otherwise I'd go with D-Log M. Am I missing something?

@@protraveltours no, it’s the gimbal movement speed. There are 3 different speeds, slow, default, fast. You get there by swiping down and the icon looks like a guy walking/running 🚶♂️

Hi Otto. .I dont have antiflicker settigns option .That means i need to uograde firmware ? Thing is i am recording in 30fps for now i slow sd card .Faster card i have in different camera . How to avoid that then ? 50fps only ? As auto mode is not solution or switching shutter speed to higher ?low light conditions 30fps and i set shutter 60 . Regards
Inside the settings there is an anti flicker option. I can’t remember if this was not there before doing a firmware update or not. But I highly suggest that you do it
@@OttoJulian_ one pocekt 3 owner shared with setting and was using shutter speed 1/100 i was uisng 60 with 30fps and yes this light flckering was terrible 😊

Excellent summary. But you didn't mention... well, how could you mention everything in one video? But I will ask one question which nobody seems to be talking about, and that's whether when using the internal mics in stereo, the soundfield rotates with the gimbal head, like it did on the Pocket 2 (which had 4 mics, not the 3 on the Pocket 3). This means that as you rotate the gimbal head, the audio image stays lined up with it, not aligned with the handle which may end up effectively pointing in a very different direction from the gimbal head. On the Pocket 2, it was a very clever trick - does the Pocket 3 have the same ability? I very much hope so.

@@OttoJulian_ Hi Otto - I am in the middle of a complicated house move at the moment and have to save my money for a new washing machine! And I'm short of time for video. But once things settle down, and when the slightly worrying reports of overheating reported by some have been resolved, then I am more than likely to shake the moths from my wallet and get a Pocket 3. Meanwhile DJI have confirmed that the stereo soundfield does rotate with the gimbal head, like with the Pocket 2, so that's good to know.

Hey Frankc, yes, remember that as with all 3-axis gimbals, the "up/down" movement generated when you walk is not controlled. If you pay attention to some of the videos you will notice a slight movement there. I did walk most of the times in a smooth way to minimize that.
You can't say that as a general rule - if you don't play back the images on devices that have a higher resolution than 4K or are printed larger than 12.8" * 7.2", then the higher resolution is of no use to you, but the larger pixels are. It's not for nothing that you can also take pictures with 12 MP with the main sensor of the iPhone, where the sensor is then in binning mode.

It’s very good, but low light appears a bit mushy, suppose it’s the limitation of a 1 inch sensor.

strange.... other pocket 3 videos says it can do 4k 120 fps and not in slow motion.
they are reading the specs and not testing properly (or they don't even have the product). The specs and website talk about 4K 120fps, which is correct, but you can't select 120fps inside the regular video mode, so the video generated will be a 30fps video already slowed down. Not sure if I am making myself clear :)

Frustrated. I have been a loyal customer of DJIs. Within the past 3-4 years I have purchased - both the gen 1 and 2 Pocket; 2 DJI Osmo gimbals and 3 DJI drones. And yet there is no ability (like Go Pro and others) for returning / loyal customers to purchase other then "stand in line" None of the local retailers have the Pocket 3 and DJI can't deliver until Thanksgiving (ironic?). But they offer $10 credit for my loyalty.
I can imagine how you feel. I was going to start this video saying "hurry up and get this because they are going to be sold out for a while" but I didn't want to sound like a product hyping UA-camr. I hope you get yours soon enough!
It's been an odd ride bouncing around between Best Buy and DJI. Within 24 hours Best Buy went from none being available to having one shipped to the local store next week. So, I swallowed by pride and paid full price and ordered it from the box store as I have yet to hear back from DJI Support Thanks for responding - your posts are always excellent with no extraneous content / comments - just to the point!!! @@OttoJulian_

In my opinion it can co-exist as long as its balanced. Maybe it was a bit too loud in this video but that was due to a technical issue with my microphone.

I have had the Pocket 2 for a long time, and use it on all my YT Channel videos, and it does very well. BUT - it's finicky with the app sometimes.
With this new screen, I won't need to use the App at all.
I've already ordered it, and can't wait!
oh and there is something else, if you want to use the app you no longer have to physically attach the phone to the camera, it's not all done wirelessly without having to buy an extra piece of equipment :)

yeah you could use the Pocket 3 to do talking heads. You will need their DJI MIC 2 or some other external microphone. It will not look exactly the same because I'm using a full frame camera, but under the right situation you will get very good results

@MrGheller Natural light will help a lot, and I also think that the RGB lights that I have in the background don’t look too pleasing with the Pocket 3. If you watch the part where I show the drone (when I talk about product showcase focus) that’s at night only with my main lights but I opted to not use color light in the background

Are you sure it has tracking when using it as a web cam. Because some other video said it didnt. And can you use the wireless mics that work with the Action 4 with the pocket 3. And can you use the wireless mic that comes with the pocket 3 with an action 4 ?
Hello Jonathan, do you remember where you saw that about webcam not having tracking? Below my answers:
1. Yes it does have tracking when using it as a webcam. Selfie mode will trigger automatically, and in the rare case that someone uses the webcam towards the front, tracking can be activated by double tapping on the screen
2. Wireless mics that work with the Action 4? so if you have a USB-C receiver and a transmitter, then the answer is yes, but I can't confirm that every single brand will work
3. You can't use the DJI Mic 2 transmitter with the Action 4 because it doesn't have a built in receiver like the Pocket 3 does. It would be possible if DJI creates a receiver for this microphone

I am still looking for a demo video of HDR and 4K and 60 fps from this camera. Can it do it? Would you please post a demo video in HDR?
HDR is done under the HLG color profile, but it's a flat profile similar to D-LOG M. In other words there is no processed HDR video mode. I'm not sure if that's what you are looking for

let me try to explain using other words. HDR comes in the form of HLG. DJI says "Pocket 3 supports 10-bit HLG video recording, allowing for a higher dynamic range directly on HDR-enabled equipment.". Most cameras that we use that have an "HDR" mode will render the file for you, you don't need to edit or use an HDR enabled equipment. The HLG color profile will look flat (look at the boat on my video around 2:00 ).
If you see any videos using HLG, they are not directly from the camera, people have to edit them (color grade) using a video software like premiere pro or davinci.
@@OttoJulian_ Thanks, Otto. The only HDR capable video camera I have used is my iPhone 12 Pro Max, and I use the editing software on my phone. It works for 4K, HDR, 60 fps. But I would like a better, more stable camera with more storage capacity and more lens capabilities than my iPhone. I never heard of HLG. So HLG encodes the additional colors? And then I would use editing software to render HDR from that? I need to read up on all this. Thanks for your help. I would still like to see some sample 4K HDR (after editing) from this camera.

When I mentioned the zoom, that video is using the zoom on the Pocket 3 (Maybe I didn't make it so clear). The zoom is digital, it's not a lot (of zoom) and the image doesn't fall apart (I can't notice anything that makes me feel like I should report that).

I got my Pocket 3 yesterday and was wondering if you could do a vid or reply as to the best settings for FOV walking videos in daylight and night time? Should i purchase ND filters for it? etc... hey there! you are welcome! I have some videos lined up for the next weeks. Quick recommendation is to use 4K, 24fps, stick to the 180 degree rule if you are using ND filters (I have a set on the way but haven't tested properly). If you don't get ND filters then exposure should be auto, and I like to limit the maximum ISO to 800. For walking videos you might want to use Default Rotational speed. Not sure if you are going to color grade your videos, if not, use normal color profile, otherwise I'd go with D-Log M. Am I missing something?

@@protraveltours no, it’s the gimbal movement speed. There are 3 different speeds, slow, default, fast. You get there by swiping down and the icon looks like a guy walking/running 🚶♂️

How to avoid that then ? 50fps only ? As auto mode is not solution or switching shutter speed to higher ?low light conditions 30fps and i set shutter 60 .

Inside the settings there is an anti flicker option. I can’t remember if this was not there before doing a firmware update or not. But I highly suggest that you do it

Excellent summary. But you didn't mention... well, how could you mention everything in one video? But I will ask one question which nobody seems to be talking about, and that's whether when using the internal mics in stereo, the soundfield rotates with the gimbal head, like it did on the Pocket 2 (which had 4 mics, not the 3 on the Pocket 3). This means that as you rotate the gimbal head, the audio image stays lined up with it, not aligned with the handle which may end up effectively pointing in a very different direction from the gimbal head. On the Pocket 2, it was a very clever trick - does the Pocket 3 have the same ability? I very much hope so.

But once things settle down, and when the slightly worrying reports of overheating reported by some have been resolved, then I am more than likely to shake the moths from my wallet and get a Pocket 3. Meanwhile DJI have confirmed that the stereo soundfield does rotate with the gimbal head, like with the Pocket 2, so that's good to know.

Is a ninja walk needed for smooth footage while walking?
It has a built in gimbal the footage is nice and smooth already and it also has tracking feature so it can follow you
Hey Frankc, yes, remember that as with all 3-axis gimbals, the "up/down" movement generated when you walk is not controlled. If you pay attention to some of the videos you will notice a slight movement there. I did walk most of the times in a smooth way to minimize that.
MP lower for better low light, phots won’t be as good as 48mp iphone
You can't say that as a general rule - if you don't play back the images on devices that have a higher resolution than 4K or are printed larger than 12.8" * 7.2", then the higher resolution is of no use to you, but the larger pixels are.
It's not for nothing that you can also take pictures with 12 MP with the main sensor of the iPhone, where the sensor is then in binning mode.
