Mike is such a legend, thank you for getting him on. I'm SO glad that all these brilliant creative stars that had such a massive impact on my creative brain are getting the respect and love they deserve!
I regret not having watched the streaming live, but what a huge pleasure to hear from the man who inspired me to paint miniatures to the best of my ability in the early 90s. All respect to Mr. McVey.
Wow, this was a fantastic episode again! I really appreciate how you've gotten awesome guests on. Mike was absolutely an insipiration for me in the nineties white dwarfs. The nostalgia is strong in this one ;)
Great show guys. Mike is such a nice guy 👍 like most of you I grew up poring over white dwarf and dreaming of being able to paint the miniatures like they were in the magazine.
Great episode. Mike was an inspiration to so many people. I am lucky enough to own a few painted pieces by Mike and Ali and they are prized possessions.
The series of dioramas Mike produced are Warhammer for me; the articles in White Dwarf explaining how he did it, the little detail inset pictures. Love it.
Really hope you can get some reaction vids of Mike at GD. Interview took me way back to a very happy time and my bro still has that 10th anniversary White Dwarf Mike first appeared in. Remember his orcs both vividly and fondly. Will have to get him to dig it up next time I visit.
I remember meeting Mike in April 1997 in Nottingham at Games Workshop. He was really nice back then. Background was a special event Games Workshop Germany was running then. It was called the Chateau d´Or campaign. And they were featuring the then new Lizardmen and Bretonnians. In the three German stores we had to play three games in special scenarios to determine the strength of the Lizard forces attacking bretonnias Chateau d Or. I won and traveled to the final event. It was all featured in the German White Dwarf 18 from June 1997. Which is the only thing left from all my Warhammer stuff oh yes and the invitation letter is still in my old bit box.
This paint job I respect it for how amazing it is it’s not my style but then I think well if this artist can paint this. They can paint absolutely any style. Absolutely stunning almost looks real it’s like a painting on canvass. I would totally love to be able to look at this up close in person
The OG! Huge respect to Mike, a foundational figure in this hobby for so many people 🫡

Mike is a legend
There were other members of the Eavy Metal team (golden era) who were just as relevant as Mike.
