I REALLY took this video to heart. I took a golf lesson this past week and the instructor said that I push with my right hand instead of pulling with my left and that my right hand was too far under my club. So I rotated my right hand to where both of the V's of my thumb and forefinger were pointing at my right shoulder. However, it felt super unnatural to pull with my left hand. My right kept kicking in and then I'd either slice or hook depending on the way my right hand rotated.
I watched this video and then another video of yours explaining dropping your hands in your downswing.
I went back and looked at a video I had of myself from July. Sure enough, in slow motion, I have saw my over the top swing. It's not drastic, but it's definitely is there. My back swing looks alright, but as soon as I would start my downswing, I could see my right arm start to push. This cause my hands to throw the club out, and then when I made contact with the ball, my arms would get slightly bound and cause me to rise up on my follow-through.
Today, I took to the range and really focused on dropping my arms and turning with my hips. I recorded several of my swings and looking through them I could see a huge difference! Dropping my hands and turning my hips made pulling with my left WAY easier.
However, as I worked my way up to my longer irons 5i my hits started to go right. There was no slice, they just headed to the right. I couldn't figure out what was happening and still don't quite get it. I should have just stopped with the range there as I got frustrated and of course I stopped recording my swings cause I got tunnel vision with the 5i. I also struggled with my woods and my driver. I am so lost with how to drop my hands on the woods and driver and still hit up on the ball off the tee.
Is there any suggestions you have with the difference in feeling of dropping your hands and turning your hips through the longer irons, woods and driver?

Keep your back towards the target for longer at top of backswing! Once you reach this point, keep your back to the target and feel the arms dropping or allow weight to move to the lead foot - as long as your back is facing towards the target when initiating either move. It creates space for you to pull into and therefore shallows the club for pullers!
As a short golfer whose arms are shorter than my height, I generate speed with a body turn and so opt for back to target with weight moving down towards the lead side.
As you’re turning the hips, you’re essentially over rotating horizontally which will create the hook and coming over the top slightly with longer clubs.

Terrific explanation on why on should pull the club head in the golf swing. Even starting the golf swing with a dragging back of the club head should produce more control and speed of the club head.

When I use pull feel I hit it so much more pure impact wise, but I never know where the ball is going because I feel like I have less control of the club face than when I push (stiffer wrist / push feel allows for more face control) 😢

I thought that you explain that when you do the squat to shift weight you do nothing with the club to get it in the slot, but now you are talking about pulling to get the club in the slot. Which is it?

Theres a lot needs adding to this to stop it being misleading , what happens through impact ? Whats the right hand doing ? And what brings the face back to square ?
