Remember the tagline "The Magic Of Disney"? You Sir, have managed to put into words what the magic was. I am in awe of your talent for analysis on this channel and very grateful for it.
WOW. This nailed it. *This* is the Disney I grew up with and so desperately miss. I wouldn't even say I'm that crazy about Disney but this reopened my eyes to how timeless and masterful so many of these films were, are, and will be.
Great essay as usual. They are more than just cartoons and you explained that perfectly. They are sensitive and indeed show us to believe more in ourselves and that love does exist in different forms.
Way back then, Walt Disney wanted to tell stories with moving pictures, and when he made that dream a reality he kept going. Despite many roadblocks he still did what he loved, while creating a place where anyone regardless of age can enjoy being a kid. After Walt's death due to smoking, the Disney company did their best to carry on his will and legacy. But for some reason or other, they let certain people come in and do the unthinkable: shutting down 2D studios, getting greedy, trying to get bigger than they are, you name it. Sure there were times the Disney company told stories the old way in a 3D format, but that seemingly stopped being the case along the way. So, yeah. Not only were the old Disney movies very interesting to see for the way they used new art techniques, but they told stories that actually taught us how life could be. And hopefully in the future the Disney company will realize what they did and atone for their mistakes. Wishful thinking, I know, but one can hope.
During a time where all we seem to make known is so much dirt on one another even after a person like Walt Disney has passed it feels wonderfully refreshing to hear comments about the beauty and the magic of life's lessons that such a gifted person has left behind.
That was beautiful and really tugged at my heartstrings ❤ I still love Disney and the magic and hope it provides us as adults to not lose the child inside wishing on that star 🌟
Whilst I definitely miss the magic of the older classics, I feel like I need to mention Encanto. That movie to me is magical and beautiful and definitely brought back a lot of that feeling that has been missing of late. Ps I love your channel, fantastic observations with such wonderful detail!
I understand Disney is a company that is supposed to understand that these animated movies that they created in their history are not just something magical or nostalgic and gold just for nostalgia to people who love they are supposed to understand that these animated movies are not about magic or just good stories with good messages no it’s not just about famous characters it’s about growing up and learning and understanding what is a meaning of learning in life and love and understand why you grow up with these movies that’s why Disney is supposed to understand that people love Disney not because their movies are nostalgic it’s because they have a story that speaks to everyone and every generations even the new generations
As kids/teens, we weren't over-thinking or over-analyzing movies/ media for things like whimsy, magic, writing, creativity, emotions, heart, soul, etc., we were just "in the moment" and blindly enjoying the movie, ya know?
I just watched the original Lion King for the first time ever, at 25 years old, and that was f****** amazing, exactly for the reasons this essay explains so well
And that is why I find the live action remakes so fucking offensive. They only recreate the most superficial surface-level aspects of the original, and sometimes not even that. They have no heart.
Don't know, man. The "Dos Origuitas" scene from Encanto, the climax of Turning Red, and the piano scene from Soul certainly made me feel. I wonder if Strange World will do the same.
Could you do a video on watching a man change: Anakin Skywalker showing his transformation over the films and the clone wars series. Think it would be a cool idea. Anyways great video as always and keep it up!
Can’t wait man. Already know it’ll be amazing! Also I make animations on my channel and I’m releasing a new one next week that shows Anakins transformation across the movies in CGI. You could use it in ur video if u want. If not I totally understand.
@@JustanObservation Wow! I was literally thinking of how an evolution video for Anakin would work. Can't wait to hear your analysis! Unpopular opinion: I feel as if the movies did a good enough job of showing his fall from grace, and that Clone Wars is just supplementary material. @@onemoreminute0543 I feel like clone wars is useful because his turn in episode 3 just feels a bit too quick as they only have 2 hours and in clone wars we get to see Anakins relationships to the people around him really be explored but more importantly we get to see him be a good person who wants to save people and is passionate about caring for others, which makes his eventual fall all the more tragic but that’s Just an Observation.
@@skywalkerproductions8108 I think the fall was done well enough in 3 due to all the set up in 1 and 2. When he's offered a way to save his wife and try to avoid repeating history, he takes it but in doing so burns his bridges to the point of no return, and he's left with nothing but servitude to his new master.

I really do miss the old days of Disney where they had creativity and passion for the art form of Cinema and they created such classic like Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937), Pinocchio (1940), Fantasia (1940), Dumbo (1941), Bambi (1942) and so many more classics but yeah modern Disney has become extremely corporate and cynical with all these franchises and soulless remakes of their classic animated films occasionally they will release something decent here and there but it’s mostly overshadowed by endless corporate and dull trash on their stupid streaming service Disney+. I am holding out for Disney to return to their original form of what made them so beloved in the first place because Disney really means a lot to me since there particularly the reason why I became a Movie Buff and why I love both cinema and animation as an artform, so this film studio really does mean a lot to me.

How do I show this video (or any of these old Disney Movies) to somebody who either never watched them, never had a loving family, or think this is only for kids?
Thank you for this video, it’s very encouraging and helping me with my soul searching, and I find that all of us these days are soul-searching. I’am longing to be in show business, I wanted to do that ever since I was a kid and I haven’t lost that interest and do you know how in the Disney films the protagonist has what’s called an I want song? The protagonist sits down and sings about what they want in life then the audience roots the rest of the night for them to get it. I’m not very good at writing songs, so I try to find a song that relates to my dreams my own I want song and it’s super trouper by Abba one of my favorite disco groups. Even now I still want to be in the entertainment world, I am a party animal I love the nightlife and I want to be where the action is.🤣
I think Disney has produced a couple of great movies in the last few years that touch your heart like Moana and Encanto. I really love those two and they are part of what would be considered modern Disney. The problem with Disney is that instead of putting all of the effort to tell good heartfelt stories that can be loved by an entire family. They want to push an agenda and "the message" so much they lose the good stories in the process. Instead of being driven by activism, Disney needs to return to being driven by good stories an audience of all ages can enjoy. This was a beautiful essay and I teared up a little bit at the end because what you said rings so true about the reason they typically bring the youngest and the oldest family members together. It really connects adults with how it feels to be a child again and child with the sense of becoming a mature adult. I just hope that these types of brilliant masterpieces aren't in the past for Disney. They can still turn the boat around and make come back to the non-activist, good story loving Disney that we all grew up with.
It's all good that they teach about accepting yourself even if you are different, but the constant portrayal of romance as a main focus in life can actually mess with those of us who actually do not feel the need for a partner in order to "feel whole", we ARE already whole and are instead being pressured into finding romance pretty much in the same way we get pressured into acting like everyone else and give up on our dreams if they are not deemed "practical" or "realistic" in the eyes of those around us; why are we all required to have to share the same dream in life about meeting "that special someone" (as if that's always realistic and practical)?
I never managed to endure through a Disney cartoon longer than 10ish minutes. Especially because I grew up on the original stories that Disney... well... Americanized and made with happy ending.
