We’ve been locked inside for about a month, but it’s been for good reason!
We spent a good majority of November 2024 locked away with our little border terrier named Chester! Even though we’ve found the last month difficult with not being about to go for any decent wanders, we’ve had an absolutely incredible (and sometimes challenging) month helping our amazing little buddy grow.
At 8 weeks old, puppies can get this first vaccination shot, but this still leaves them vulnerable to many nasty infectious diseases that are terrible (and even fatal) for puppies, so it is best to keep them inside until they have had their second round of vaccination shots at about 12 weeks old.
Even then, it is advised to keep them indoors at least 1-2 weeks later to ensure their immune system is strong and can fight off the nasties.
It’s a tough slog, but hang in there! When this video goes live, we should be close (or even able) to FINALLY take Chester for walks in public, along with attending public puppy classes to get that all-important socialisation.
