hi shannon! i’m a new viewer of your channel, and i really like your videos! i recently read american mermaid, and i loved it. as a wheelchair user, i really resonated with the narrative. i do want to point out that terms like ‘handicapped’ aren’t really thought of fondly within most disabled spaces. of course, everyone is different, and some people might not mind the language, but it’s been used for discriminatory purposes in the past. i realize that the broader public might not know the history of the term, and you obviously didn’t mean any harm in saying it. again, i love your channel, and i’m glad you spoke about a book that includes representation of disability!❤️
Hi Laurel! Thank you so much for kindly reaching out and helping spread awareness and educate me. Thank you for sharing this information with me and I look forward to continuing to grow and educating others on this now as well❤
