If the thread is not catching and making a stitch is the bobbin needle broken?
My presser foot adjustment doesn't seem to go down far enough to clamp fabric, perhaps this is why it's not catching a stitch?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Also when I turned the presser bar top screw out a little cork came out of it 😂. I'm not certain if it's been there since 1956! But I kept it. I don't think it's supposed to go back in.

Greetings Melissa Farrugia! Thank you for visiting!
If the thread is missing stiches it may be the timing between the needle point & the hook point has come out of adjustment. It is not a difficult fix, but the first time is always an adventure!
This will be the subject of my next video; timing the nee3dle & hook! Thank You Melissa Farrugia!
That is true that the foot being out of position might affect a stitch. This one I don't know right know but this will be filmed soon as well.
You can hit that little notification bell on Jebb's page and you will get a little comment when I post video's.
That cork may be from the top of the presser bar top screw. It is likely an oil wick. That should get a drop of oil daily, weekly or monthly depending on how many hours you run the machine.
Thank you for viewing here and I will get working on the 201k here so I can learn how to time these machines. It is a simple adjustment apparently. Without a workbench an assistant may need to hold the machine. It is one of those jobs that requires 3 hands! Lol! Thanks again, nice lady! Peace!

Hi jebb my singer 306k is stuck in reverse and can’t move the lever.thank you in advance and more power to you!

HI WILLY! OKAY, I JUST HAD A PEEK AT THIS 306! JUST TO THE LEFT OF THE REVERSE LEVER (STITCH LENGTH LEVER) IS A THUMBSCREW. IF THAT SCREW IS IN TIGHT IT WILL HOLD THE LEVER IN THE UP POSITION. IF YOU LOOSEN THAT SCREW ALL THE WAY, JUST LOOSEN IT ONLY; ONCE LOOSENED THE STITCH LENGTH/REVERSE LEVER SHOULD GO ANYWHERE ALONG ITS CHANNEL FROM START TO FINISH.
IF THE SEWER WANTS 12 STITCHES PER INCH THEY WOULD PUT THE LEVER BESIDE THE TWELVE. THEY THEN TURN THE THUMBSCREW TO TIGHTEN IT UNTIL THEY SEE THE LEVER MOVE UP A BIT. THAT IS HOW THEY CAN SEW QUICKLY WHILE GOING BACK AND FORTH BETWEEN 12 AND REVERSEWITHOUT HAVING TO LOOK AT IT.
IF THAT IS NOT THE ISSUE, EXPERIENCE HAS SHOWN IT IS LIKELY HARD VARNISHED, QUITE OFTEN AROUND THE GEARS.
THAT WAS A GOOD QUESTION. I HOPE THIS HELPS. HAVE FUN WITH THE 306K. THANKS!
