If you can maybe convert all bolts to studs to hopefully help with not pulling threads out of the aluminum. I only mention this because this is a prototype engine that is being taken apart a lot and what I know about aluminum is it doesn't like threads being used to much. I know you know this but sometimes we need a reminder, I know I do.

Loctite 515 gasket eliminator is my go to sealant for 2 stroke cases and any other flanged mating surface, not affected by gasoline oil or acid. Good for .010" irregularities on mating surfaces by itself and .030" when used with a primer and it's anaerobic. Never had a failure myself, it is the recommended product by Mercury Marine and SkiDoo.

Hi Alex I know you probably won’t see this but when you build the water brake, it’s imperative you use a 31 tooth (or at least high tooth count) for the brake RPM. I’ve built two now for outboard motors here. It’s important for the load control to have fast response on the RPM pickup, as the water load is non linear and hard to tune!! Jostien helped get ours dialed in. Outboards run 2.8:1 gear ratio and have very high torque, low rpm which the brake has a hard time loading up (they like higher RPM on the brake shaft) or the toroidal water flow is not efficient

I have had that Wurth sealant fail multiple times. In my opinion it is not suitable for metal on metal. Or anywhere with any significant clearance. It is good for putting on paper gaskets and that is about it. Use something like three bond TV, or the loctite equivalent. I have used it on engine and gearbox casings for years. You will never have an issue again.

Back in the 1955-6 Bonneville speed week sessions,NSU pushed a 50cc streamlined bike to 127 mph! I’m not certain, but I believe it was a two stroke, assisted by water injection! Unfortunately ,it’s doubtful any of the engineers involved at the time are still surviving, but details of the technology they used must exist somewhere? I think the engine was the 50cc from the NSU”Quickly” moped originally, but obviously seriously uprated, and run through a multiple ratio gearbox.

Will hydrofluoric acid remove this black surface and leave pure aluminum? I used PA6/AW2017A aluminum for this purpose and after bathing in caustic soda and rinsing with distilled water, it turned black, why is this happening? Please someone give me an answer.

I would lay off a surpercharger idea. It eats to much of power to drive it from 50 cc. Keep it N/A maybe with exotic fuels route.
And get some best forged materials for cranck , rod and piston up to performance to 18.000 rpm.

Pretty neat how he is using model clay to build up an area to create a blowdown effect in & out. This show’s him room for improvement. A cleverly creative design to make real horsepower gains. Have you tried simple cotton thread. Lycoming aircraft engines use thread as the gasket when the halves are rejoined And most don't leak.

hi 2 stroke stuffing, I've seen a lot of your videos and I've taken a lot of inspiration from them, listen, I wanted to ask you if it was a stupid idea, maybe you can try this: I had thought about exhaust gas leaks on the cylinder exhaust port on a 2-stroke engine when piston goes down, because transfers are open and fuel go through the exhaust port, so exhaust chamber do its work to push back fuel, then I thought of this: what happens if I make a rotary disc valve on the exhaust port only? I'll explain better: transfers are located a lot under the exhaust port, the exhaust port is almost at the top of the cylinder but always on the cylinder wall, the rotary valve opens the exhaust port after combustion when piston goes down, while the piston continues to descend, the rotary valve closes right before the piston begins to open the transfer ports positioned below. When the transfer ports are fully open, the piston begins to rise, and reaches the highest point, and after combustion, it begins to descend and then the rotary valve opens the exhaust port
This will improve performance for good reliability engine, with longer conrod, the rotary disc is calculated based on crankshaft stroke, conrod lenght, compression height piston etc…
What do you think? The exhaust will do only one work: throw away exhaust gases more quickly, for preparing the new combustion cycle

    you have had 20+? hp
    20k rpm
the motors showed no signs of making less as the rpms climbed... adjusting thing only made it more powerful down low but it still kept gaining power.
i think you may already have the most powerful 2 stroke. it just needs to stay running and be left in a stable condition.
    you have multiple motors?
both candidates for the position with different methods. more than one engine would be an advantage, and make for content with a running engine, when another is down for repairs or further modifications.
cant wait to hear a sustained 12k rpm again. man thise things were singing

I like to keep my maple syrup in a castrol canister , unfortunately I didn’t check, and I’ve lubed the engine with maple syrup instead of oil, and now the crank is seized solid

Well hard to say this but........what are you doing bro? Been wwtching you for a couple years now and i have not seen anything close to a running engine. I thought this was for a land speed bike. Its two stroke technology for christs sake. You videos are high quality and the content is better than average for most creators. Two thumgs up for that. But is that all this chsnnel is. Making videos to make money for content wifh no real world working engine in sight?

    No thank you.👏👏
Your videos are brilliant the learning process is half the fun and never ever feel like you need to put us viewers before your own mental health.
We can be patient and let a man heal and get his head straight.
The last thing we want is another great engineer gone too soon.
I'm still waiting for some power and maybe a return to Bonneville for a real crack at the 50cc land speed record.
I'm sure there will be a few more offerings to the gods of speed but we will learn from it and come back stronger.
thank you again your videos are something I look forward to in a bit of a cloudy life I'm in at the moment.
I wish I could donate to help you on your journey but it's a little tight dinner every 3 days the cost of living in my area is not good but we make do.
    much love ..👏👏

Permatex moto seal might work well? I have used with success on outboard 2 stroke boat engines for the exhaust manifold.

Test that your sealant is resistant to your fuel. I rebuild chainsaws professionally and have had many types of RTV silicone fail. I finally got tired of it and did a test with different sealants. I just stuck a couple of large washers together with each sealant, let them cure fully, and then I put them in a jar of fuel and let them sit soak for a while. Many "engine sealants" failed they where not resistant to fuel they softened, expanded and lost their bond or completely dissolved. The one I ended up going with was permatex Moto seal which was completely unaffected by sitting in fuel for months. Not sure if that moto seal product is available where you are but its been good for me.

Studs not bolts much stronger hold in a soft material especially aluminum.
You should be doing thermal stress relieving by placing the entire engine into an oven heating it to 275 f then placing in cold air and repeating the process five times then test for leaks and make sure everything turns smooth re-torque.
The heating process does two things it removes all moisture from porosities and material and when cooling all the oil will be sucked into the porosities that is good in the inside of the engine including the cylinder wall.
The thermal expansion and softening of seals will help everythings stress is line up better and move closer into a position it will be in at running temperature and stress.
It's a bit like a torque plate being added before boring.
Cast iron blocker stress relieved seasoned by heating them to 1800° f for 24 hours and then allowing to cool.
The small mass of your motor shouldn't be as critical has a large cast iron motor.
But the materials you're using have close to twice the thermal expansion properties.

Funny truth! Anytime i have ever salvaged a gasket from pretty much anywhere on anything ever on a motorcycle of mine! I walk over to my trusty metal chemichail catch all of a cabinet and grab any old can of spray paint any color but ya spray paint of anykind in general hang the gasket be it head gasket or a random cover gasket i've yet to have a salvaged gasket that i've sprayed with spray paint and allowed to dry and then reused fail on me ever. If your process is not broken why would you fix it?

methanol is much better for drying, used to chemically dry when no water can be present. As it evaporates, it takes the water with it.

your calibration method isn't totally accurate since the weight isn't sitting at a perfect 9oclock position, it is more like 6-6:30 oclock which changes where the weight hangs vertically in regards to the point of ritation of the dyno, dunno if this is understandable just let me know if it isn't 😅
