Wow!! I have seen the Pianola, but I have never seen so many instruments incorporated, that is a piece of amazing engineering and beauty!! Thank you for posting this.
Not to mention the maintenance on it! Gives me anxiety just thinking about it! Objects like this, because of their history, character, etc., are practically people. It isn't something to own, but to be it's conservator. It's clearly in he right hands, though! 🥰
Thank you, for the generosity of sharing this wonder with all of us, and for being the ones who have restored and brought these fabulous instruments back to life.
I seem to remember in Spring Green, WI at the "House on the Rock" a small museum with a whole bunch of devices like this -- one was a full-size chamber orchestra. Could watch and listen to them all day. Kind of an Industrial Age look-what-we-can do. Thanks for sharing.
There is still one company that makes them, QRS is the name of it. Plus standard piano rolls come up on ebay all the time because people think they are somehow valuable or rare, which they aren't. Sinfonie Jazz rolls would probably be harder to find than standard piano rolls, because there weren't as many of those machines sold.
A friend and me we’re driving along a road and we saw one of these piano’s at the side of the road and it had a free sign on it so we picked it up and found out later it was a player piano and we had no rolls of music to make it play so we improvised and put a toilet roll in and it played a heap of shit 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴
One of the best sounding orchestrions I’ve heard. A tasteful combination of percussion with a natural feel. Thanks for sharing.

Mechanical engineering is more marvellous than garbage electronics.

So beautiful!! thanks for share.
I used to see a lot of these "nickelodeons" at our state fair back in the 1960's and 1970's . I LOVED THEM !
I like how they incorporated the primary motif from Grieg's "In the hall of the mountain king".
Vielen Dank für das Video! Habe vor ein paar Monaten ein Hupfeld Phonola renoviert, es macht richtig Spaß, Rolle für Rolle durchzuspielen.

💀💀💀very expensive 💀💀💀
Y todo esto sin diodos, transistores ni microprocesadores!!!
Really nice. But I’ve never seen one of these machines converted to Midi, with air solenoids.
The machine could play modern music.
