- Sir Graham Lowe is regarded as one of New Zealand's great rugby league coaches. He's coached Wigan to a championship, he's the only New Zealander to coach a state of origin team winning with New South Wales and also coached the Manly Sea Eagles.
So what does he think of the seven Manly players who decided not to play because the pride jerseys didn't align with their religious beliefs.
bullshit, you could support a lot of minority groups on the jersey, but, Manly support the gay community, there are a lot of causes that are way more worthy than the " rainbow community " i support the players who wouldn't wear the jersey, i wouldn't wear it either.
U want the 7 to be inclusive of the lgtb which they are but asking them to endorse is completely different to tolerance.
"Badly Handled" !! That's an understatement ! Clearly the players were not considered or last on the list ! What was Manly management thinking ? or not thinking !!
This was meant to be a week wear they were focusing on women's sports
Yes Angus, And once again women's focus is trumped by LGBT. I can't think of anything more stupid than wearing a jersey promoting sexual preference. I fully support the Manly 7 who have freedom of thought, conscience and religion under article 9 of the Human Rights Act. It would seem however that LGBT has more rights than us.
Again it’s the same msg ! Your identity doesn’t matter if it collides with the pride agenda/identity!
This dude is a huge hypocrite.
C'mon Graham, every Christian sports player will play alongside everybody else happily including gays or not. They probably also have Gay friends and family members. They decided that they don't want to be promoting a sexual lifestyle that there faith doesn't condone. They also wouldn't promote hetrosexual promiscuity which also conflicts with there faith so give these guys a break I am sure they don't hate Gays.
Yeah agree, Lowey also said commented that religion shouldn't be in sport (or words similar) but what of politics? the boys are there to play league that is their job placing additional pressure on them particularly when they are not consulted isn't good communication or management.
But they are happy to promote gambling and alcohol, seems a bit hypocritical?
The players should have been informed about the pride jersey, and have the choice to play
Imagine if it were a bunch of Muslims. There would be no kick back whatsoever.
If "religion should play no part in the sport" then neither should identify politics.
Exactly .Great post .
I dont think ur sexuality should play apart in sport aswel keep religion and pride and politics out of sport and thats coming from a christian man, this guys talking rubbish
If religion shouldn't be involved in sport nor should who people chose to sleep with. They are there to play league.Dont pick and chose what's ok to force down people's throats.
Poor old Lowie. He's losing it.The players said they'd play or whatever but they wouldn't wear the jersey. Like many,he can't understand English!
leave religion for churches not sporting arenas is a great point
Leave sexuality for the bedroom not sporting arenas is a better point.
Leave sexuality and whatever the lgbtqrstuvwxyx+ believe for the bedroom
Politics, religion and your sexuality should NEVER be a part of sports. It gets too messy… for e.g.
