What I dearly missed was The Wicked Symphony, Stargazers and Savior in the clockwork. I am clueless why at least one of them hadn't been played by them...
Andre Matos was singing with Van Canto after this concert... I thought he was going to sing with Avantasia also :(

+Boris Babic For all we know it was an internal joke beteween those two, I don't know. I've seen that happened before between Meat Loaf and his guitar player. They both admitted later that is was an internal joke between those two but they realized and understood that the audience began too wonder about the whole thing and apoligized for the bad taste on their behavior. I don't know if something like this is the case here.

Amazing show. For those complainig about the soung quality: this was taken from the broadcast, and sound is taken directly from the console. Its fitted for the live audience, not processed/equalized for a dvd. It is a different mix. And for a live sound it kicks ass.
Avantasia kicked ass this night. And Tobi regained the magic when he composed The Mystery of Time and Space Police. Two awesome albums!!!

Jorn doesn't want to be in Avantasia. He want to do his own thing... He will maybe join Avantasia again if he needs money though.

Per-Ivar Sandbæk Jorn is sadly controlled by Frontier records now and can't write music himself and have to have everyone else make music for him. he could join Avantasia just for the money. But he enjoy singing there live i think.

There's no power in Tobias voice, the other singers are much better in this live show.
Boris Babic Those many years singing with that Sharp (high treeble) voice took its toll.
Andre Matos got advised a FEW years ago here in Brasil of this. His doctor said that if he continue doing things like that (fairy tale for an example is a music that realy push the voice to the limit) he would permanet damage his voice.
Thats Why Andre dont sing like he is used to do 10 years ago.
I really Believe that the same happen to Tobias. But i think hes voice took some kind of damage.
I used to "try" some covers of those guys singing.
Its hard to keep it over time.
***** Ok, thank you for the info. Tobias still can sing with power although maybe not with high treble, but in this show I think he was tired, sick or something. Actually I prefer his "Bruce Dickinson" kind of voice like in the song "The cross and you". He still sings that style very vell but choses not to do so very often, I'm not sure why. He should be able to sing these songs?

I think that should be for 2 reasons :
1 - Maybe he "move on" from that part of hes carrer
2 - Maybe he doesnt sing like that too often to protect his voice.

As long as you sing properly it won't damage your voice, I just think he needs to focus more on keeping in shape, but he could be sick in this one, he was better in 2011 :)

This is my theory:
The reason why Hartman doesn't do more vocals for Avantasia is because he is ten times stronger than Sammet, and Tobias already is totally killed by Lande and Allen amongst others, so Sammet do not wish to get behind Hartmann aswell.. To many good vocalists who get attention above mr Tobias.
Sammet is a master composer, one of the best in metal music, but a weak vocalist compared to these guys.
Personally I would absolutely love to hear a duet/collaboration between Lande and Hartmann on next Avantasia record, both extremely strong metal vocalists who would kick everyones ass!
Sammets voice fits perfect with Andre Matos and Kiske though, so I hope Tobias reads this and take this to consideration ;)

Goos show, Tobias Sammet is aybe one of the best composes on this planet.
Though I most say, that Tobi´s vocal-style annoys me a lot. Until 2004, he was one of the best vocalists ever! His range was amazing, and his range was incredible, and could match legends like Bruce Dickinson, Rob Halford and Michael Kiske.
I don´t get why he suddenly changed so much in 05/06, but it has definitely had consequences for his voice today, it sound very damaged to me.
Also, I don´t understand his obsession with hard rock all of a sudden. It is not as bad with Avantasia, as it is with Edguy, but when hi changed vocal, he also changed music-style. Maybe that´s why he has also chosen some totally non-power metallic guitarist? the old Avantasia-band was much more power metal, but now it is too much hard rock, and it is like they wanna forget the two first albums that, for me, are the REAL Avantasia.
But anyway, Avantasia is still great, nice to see Ronnie Atkins with them, he is one of the best at what he does, and Michael Kiske is still pure magic! Actually, it is like his voice has gone better through the last couple of years ;)
Good concert but setlist's missing some of their best songs(The Tower, Wicked Symphony, Chalice of Agony, Another Angel Down)

It is weird to know that the strongest voice from 'Shelter from the rain' is Bob's. Kiske still has almost of his range due to lack of touring, but lost too much power and volume in his voice. Tobias sounds awful, especially considering his age... he's not even old yet!

Sound technicians over at Wacken really failed this time... Avantasia live usually sounds so great... they really fucked up the live broadcast...
I get why people are complaining about the sound or even the vocalists' voices, but I was at the koncert and the sound was much, much better there. At least where I stood. Sammet's still got it. Avantasia was awesome!

Tobias totally lost his voice... Or it's just a poor video shot?
He broke his nose last year, maybe that's why his voice is different.
He changed his vocal-style back in 05/06, and since then, his voice sounded very weird. I think it was due to his new obsession with hard rock, when he changed both Avantasia and Edguy into hard rock instead of power metal :/

Tobi changed his vocal, because his vocal-tech, Sascha, did not like his operatic voice.
Of course it was hard for him to sing like that all the time, but the style he uses now, sounds more unhealthy than the opera-style. Not everyone can use chest-voice, and to be honest, Tobi will end up destroying his voice in the long, and in 2-3 years, he will not be able to sing songs that goes up higher than two chords.
If he had´n changed back then, he would still be able to sing the old Edguy-masterpieces, but now, we have to listen baaad hard rock-songs from Trinnitus Sanctus and Age If The Joker :/
Mickey Holm There is some different thing as well. Simply if he would not changed his sing technique he will sound live like Andy Deris... If You listen for live performances from 2008 you hear that it was hard for him to sing so high, similar thing like with Kotipleto from Stratovarius... Kiske handles with time perfectly
Ok that was not Tobis greatest day, but was makes me proud as a german, no more as a metal fan is, that he keeps the metal alive with all of his love and his genius ideas. So let him a bad day and raise your hands in the air!

Das Problem mit Tobis Stimme ist, dass er sie in laufe der Zeit von einer Power Metal Stimme zur Rock Stimme deformiert hat. Mit der Zeit hat er sich so an die Rockstimme gewöhnt, dass es ihm jetzt schwerer fällt, mit klarer hoher Stimme zu singen. Auf RR und TS hört sich das alles noch richtig gut an dort weiß seine Stimme richtig einzusetzen. Auf den neueren EDGUY /Avantasia Alben (ab 2008) versucht er rockig zu klingen und doch hin und wieder hohe Töne rauszupressen, diese hören sich dann irgendwie quakend an. Es scheint so als versuche er, Kopf und Brustimme gleichzeitig anzuwenden wie auch immer.... Ok dieses Konzert war nicht sein Tag, dazu kommt noch die schlechte Tontechnik.. Habe Edguy 2014 live gesehen Tears of a Mandrake, Babylon haben sich sehr stark angehört. Die neuen Songs wie Love Tyger haben sich auch gut angehört, aber jedoch immer mit diesem "Gequake"=> Brian Johnson ??. Darauf läßt sich schließen, dass dies mit seinem Hard-Rock- Gesangsstil zu tun haben muss. Zudem hat Tobi in den letzten Jahren seine Stimme stark beansprucht- eine Gesangspause wäre vielleicht sinnvoll.
I just realized: While playing "Invoke the Machine" Ronnie Atkins enters the stage too late and then Tobi sings "Time won't wait for those who stay behind"; so fitting! :D

I wish they had played Wicked Symphony, Stargazers and the whole Seven Angels but what can we do...
Not sure what's up with the sound in this recording but it's very poor. I don't just mean Tobi's tired voice (fella needs to give himself and his voice a break) but the thing, the guitars are fucking awful! Also these guys could not get the solo's right at all. I love Avanatasia, only seen them once live at Sziget in 2007 (I think) and it was epic but this is poor. As for Tobi's more recent exploits with the last 3 Edguy albums, I don't get the hatred. I've been a fan of the band since Kingdom of Madness also but I don't look back with rose tinted glasses on those albums. The title track for Kingdom of Madness is downright awful and someone tell me what's power metal or even metal at all about When a Hero Cries - fucking drivel. However that said, Tobi always though of Edguy as a bit of fun, a laugh with his mates. Edguy are a rough around the edges, comedic band, influenced by power metal bands. I really like Space Police and the so call travesty that was Age of the Joker. They do not compare with Mandrake or Hellfire Club (but those weren't flawless albums either) and people's claims that the last 3 albums were developed without any passion clearly have no fucking clue what they're talking about. You just need to see Tobi talk about those albums in an interview and you can tell how excited he gets explaining the concepts behind his songs and what the lyrics say between the lines etc. I loved Edguy back in the day and I still love them now and appreciate what they do. They aren't commerical nonsense, they're just a band who does what they want to do and not what their closed-minded fans demand that they do. As for Avantasia though, I really wasn't into the latest release but I hope they make another because some of Avantasia's songs are the best metal songs I've ever heard. Anyway just an opinion.

The whole thing sound bad. A sound engineer`s nightmare come real - lot of singers with mics running all across the stage. So many mics set off not on time, and also it seems monitoring was bad too - singers went wrong so many times. That ruined the choir on main Avantasia themes. That`s not all the Tobi`s fault. And special appreciation goes to Michael Kiske - he was almost brilliant through all the mess.
