- I gave myself a challenge and redesign the Sub Zero alternate from Mortal Kombat Deception. It was a harder task than I thought, but I'll let you judge how my designs came out.

It's such a freaky looking Sub Zero 😂 I'll blame it on another timeline.
I heard a MK podcast theorize that the MK Deception alt was intended to be an amcestor of Sub-Zero for Shujinko to train with in Konquest. Because it storywise it didn't make sense for the dragon armor to be in earthrealm during the time Shujinko was training.
That alt being a different character Noob/Smoke style would've been better than what they gave us.
I mess with the last design the best. Really cool.
The frustrating thing about the Deception alt is it's SO close to being cool. If instead of the dumb top knot hair he just had...a baggy hood or something that would've brought it all together.
The second one makes me think of Ozai if he were a cryomancer.
I keep thinking the 3rd one should've had a Kung Fu shirt tucked in, and a sleeveless one.
What about a redesign of someone like Kira, Khameleon, or Darrius?
I'll take note of those. I think Kira and Kano are the only Black Dragon I haven't done yet.

In the original timeline Kuai Liang fought Sektor and become the new grandmaster of Lin Kuei and held the dragon medallion. The medallion enhanced his powers but it also had a side effect so it causes him to be old. I like the last final design you made.
Thanks. The last one is my favorite too. I forgot about the medallion aging Sub-Zero. I'm actually kinda glad that got retconned.
As cool as the last design is i think the 2nd one you designed is 🔥🔥🔥.. he had grey hair in deadly alliance because he was in possession of the dragon medallion which amplified his cryo abilities but aged him.
The medallion aging him makes since, did they retcon that?

There are elements of the secondary costume design I like for Subzero in deception. The only real part that bothers me is the fact that he bald and and has a ponytail at the same time which is not really a good fit for him. The clothing attire for the rest of him is otherwise kinda cool but just a wasted opportunity with the head section.
You're right. The head part is probably 90% of what kills the design. It not only looks poor as a result but it's a weird choice for Sub-Zero.

I liked that you called out MK11 and MK1 for having over the top costumes. Every ninja suit in MK11 and MK1 looks over designed. Seeing the Takeda reveal made me wonder how they could take someone with such a cool cyberninja suit and turn it into the ugly EVA foam party city bullshit that we're getting
I actually like Takeda's new design. To me it makes sense for him to have a bunch of shields and accessories unlike some other designs of the last 8 or 9 years. I feel like the Netherrealm games have as many unnecessary accessories the way the Midway Era had padded, baggy clothes with bulky designs.

Yeah. Most of the alternates in MK1 look straight outta DCU.
yo man can u redesign the enflamed costume for scorpion in mk11 please? i rlly like ur style and enflamed is prob one of the coolest scorpion skins in mk11.
