Just to clarify a point, the Nvii Forest 2 do not retail at £155, they retail at £135, not sure where this information has come from but in the interest of balance and fairness I think this should be raised, especially as such a point of their "high price" point was made in the review when they are actually pretty much the same as the other brands here!
Great to see a good honest review..the only pair I have are the Sauconys and I have to agree with you, I didn't like them at first at all but now with alot of miles in them I really enjoy running in them, great grip and the rock plate really helps..
I got them for xmas and I still don’t feel comfortable... they feel heavy, I feel slower although I feel much more confident when running downhill. Today I went out for a run and took my old Hokas 😅
Great Review - I've worn X-Talon for a long time now but really interested that you said you wouldn't wear them for long distance. Having seen this , I've now bought a pair of the La Sportiva Mutants and they are absolutely fabulous - really cushioned and comfortable and grip to rival the Talons - would agree on them being a bit narrow but toe box is roomy so not a problem. Thank you so much - I'm looking forward to wearing them in 20 miles of Surrey mud this weekend!!
Great rewiew! Having a wide feet the X-talon 200 is a perfect option for me!Despite to the weight, amazingly cushioned and protective! Thanks for sharing and hope I see you again with other reviews!!👍🤘
Me too! Had to be a Wildcross for the mud swamps on my dog runs, but I am looking for a spring/summer shoe for the dryer conditions. Will keep an eye on things and hopefully get to try on in a shop at some point!
I use the X-Talon G235 for SwimRun events and swear by the grip, its superb.! Also Inov8 shoes come in different widths and the G235 is one of the narrow ones.
Great review. The Saucony Peregrine 10 ST are superb but agree they can be a little slippy on wet rock. I've done over 300km in mine so far. I actually think the Saucony Peregrine 10 is a better shoe overall though. I'm on my 2nd pair now and managed over 600km in the 1st pair. Looking forward to the new version which comes out in a few weeks
Hi, I´ve run about 60km in Peregrine 10 ST and had to give them away. Very slippy on everything - wet rock, wet asphalt, even in mud. I´ve just bought the standard Peregrine 10, hope they´re more grippy...
@@wildgingerruns update I brought the 11's but they not as good as the 10's so I sold them. Different fit and a lot heavier even though the website says they are lighter. I weighed the 10 and 11
Just discovered this channel - excellent "real" review with a superb pronunciation of "mud". PS Interesting that the UK sourced vegan friendly shoe is the cheapest!
Tussocks are a weird type of clumpy grass and are bloody horrible to run through. Fells are what northerners call mountains/hills...Give feet in the clouds a read for more info👍
Got my first trail run coming up, it's 4 parts so 12.5m, 37,28 and 29 or thereabouts. Went with the Hoka speedgoat 4 also have the Clifton 8 so know I'll get on well with them. But also gone with Altra mont blanc as a faster option. Innov8 whilst good are too spongy, very comfortable but not made for speed demons, plus being strong I was always breaking traction with my parkclaw 275.
Ooh. Been contemplating the Peregrine ST as the trails around be have turned to sloppy mud.. currently resorted to a cheapy pair of Evadict MT cushion from Decathlon..as my old Evadict XT7 started to show the mileage and my feet started feel a bit battered. They’ve been coping very well.. This has been the first proper test review of them I’ve seen, thank you. How are they at resisting the water and mud? My current ones have no resistance at all..
They aren’t waterproof so pretty similar really to most shoes- if it’s boggy your feet are gonna get soggy, but they don’t seem to hold water if that makes sense.
@@victoriamousley3776 thanks! That’s a shame, It was because they say they’re water repellent somewhere in the advert blurb, so guess that just means the shoe fabric doesn’t hold on to dirt as much? Obviously I know no shoe is going to be 100% waterproof because there is a big hole where your foot goes in 😀 so haven’t bothered with that kind of shoe, because I’d rather whatever water goes in comes out just as fast, but was hoping they’d resist water going on them from wet grass or water deeper than the soul is high. By old cheapy shoes had a thicker fabric all around the toe box that went all the way around to the back so used to do quite a good job at resisting, but the new cheapy I have they’ve stopped this fabric half way, so you get that first feeling of cold damp under the arch quite easily in damp grass 🙁
I´ve run about 60km in Peregrine 10 ST and had to give them away. You´re right that the midsole needed some time for breaking in... But the main problem was the outsole - very slippy on everything - wet rock, wet asphalt, even in mud. I´ve just bought the standard Peregrine 10, hope they´re more grippy...
Great review! You might want to have a look at Icebug Acceleritas which look a bit like a pair of Hoka or Inov8, quite minimalist with a very good grip, especially on wet rocks! Plus, this Swedish company stresses the importance of the environmental impact of their shoes by detailing their portion of recycled materials and their carbon foot print! :)
Hey Paul, thanks! Great suggestion, I've tried them before but they are quite hard to come across in the UK, the PR for them seems to be very on and off
You don't really need cushioning for running... Regardless of where you're running. One's feet are enough to absorb the shocks, it's a different story of you heel strike though. Diy your shoes to zero drop barefoot trail running and slowly transition into it, and thank me later.
This is not for everyone, especially those who have been running for 30+years in regular cushioned shoes. I tried it and got constantly injured. Stopped trying to go minimal, no injuries...
What's best shoe for comfort that helps bunions on side of foot , for going up snowdiona, you got any recommendations, say for comfot more, say if your attempt 100k or 100miles?
Wild Ginger Trail & Ultra Running - maybe try contacting PB Sports, I'm sure they would be able to help you out. Ian Corless has done some very detailed reviews on various VJ models and is pretty convinced they are the best mountain shoes.
Hi! I've just done Born Survivor only 10k in scott supertac 3 that was given to me by Scott to test. I absolutely loved running in them and considering buying a pair. Have you tried them? How do they compare to the supertrac 2? I'm new to running and I was wearing salomon which were great but the toe box wasn't wide enough and I kept getting blisters between my toes! I bought saucony peregrine 12 but I think the low drop isn't working for me and around 10k my forefoot starts hurting so I'm sadly considering selling them and replacing them with scott supertrac 3. Any input/ recommendation would be greatly appreciated
Hi Laura sorry I haven't tried the 3's but if they are anything like the 2's they have a really nice wide-ish fit in the toe box that i really like. Here is my review of the 2s here, hope that helps if they are not too dissimilar. ua-cam.com/video/_mr8Sjlz2yM/v-deo.html
I have used Altra for years and found that their own maxtrac outsole (Lone Peak, Timp, Superior) is not great traction wise. The models that use vibrate megagrip are worth a look & I really like the king mt 2, just wish they'd ditch the strap.

I just watched again this trail shoes review and it is really good quality filming , excellent work !

Grip on wet wood, roots, etc.. = adidas Skychasers/Agravic (till 2018/2019), Skychasers LT/XT (newer Models).
The most grippy rubber in my experience is vibran megagrip. That rubber just works in any condition for me.
yes me too, and also Inov-8's graphene
I don’t know what Tussex or Fell are. Also, it’s the Peregrine 10 ST, which is slightly water resistant and has 1.5mm longer lugs!

Can't have that much cushioning for fell running because it's just asking for a twisted ankle

VJ shoes?
Not many fell runners seem to review them and I really don’t know why. They are what INOV8 used to be before it commercialised.
They're really difficult to get hold of that's why there aren't many reviews. If you can get a PR contact for them then defo let me know!

If only Salomon would make wider versions...
Well, I give my money to NB and Hoka then.
They do now. Salomon Speedcross come in a standard and a wide fit.
If it’s the toe box that is the issue - the new Wildcross has a much wider toe box - so comfy!
