Yea, this kind of character would not definitely be this strong without it. However, if you intend to use throwing knives, you better find something else. It simply doesn't provide anything useful. But for a staff-attacker it is a good one.
In theory its the buff to poison that is increased by 10% per 50 dex and buff to poison gas bomb. But in practise, I have many mages (earth+rogue, storm+spirit, dream+storm) and in epic they became much weaker compared to normal but this illusionist isnt getting weaker. She is currently in epic orient.
Thanks. That's useful to know. What about your trap skill though? Aren't they completely useless against undead? I'd read that they made undead and constructs immune to piercing. And traps are full piercing damage afaik. I'm thinking of starting my own venom rogue.
Traps are not even useless against undeads and constructs, they do a lot of piercing dmg actually despite not having gear with bonus to all pets like +physical or elemental damage but traps didnt fit in concept of poison oriented mage thats basically the main reason for me :D

Hello! Somewhere in settings you should find HUD style, there are 2 options so select the other one. I quess you are using that new hud which brought Anniversary Edition and this one is like vanilla hud from 2006 ;) Btw I'm from Slovakia, realised a bit later :D
My first mastery was rogue i was putting points into envenom weapon and poison gas bomb simultaneously. Then i switched to envenom weapon tree, excluding mandrake. After finishing those: plague --->pets --->heart of oak. I took that poison weapon and relocated points from envenom weapon to i dont remember :D And only 1/12 in envenom, well its because DOTS dont stack, at level 12 it gives 230 poison damage over 3 seconds and my staff gives SLIGHTLY more - 336-546 over 3 seconds. Thats why. But in future i will ditch that weapon and max envenom again to get more poison damage with relic on green staff or whatever with +25% poison damage and +4skills. ;)
Hello! I found out knives are good in later stages of the game with this character. So for example if you apply do that does 120 damage over 3 seconds and after 1 second you apply another dot that does 121 over 3 seconds, the first dot is replaced with the stronger dot.
yes, I figured it out, did some research. At the moment, my build can kill hydra in Legendary. A bit slow, yes, but it dies. I want to stick with poison only, I really do, however I am considering going poison knives + either storm or earth, since undead and constructs are basically immortal on legendary with pure poison build...and reduce resistances does not help, since they absorb % damage, rather than resist it...I really really want to stick to poisoned knives but it starts to get less viable in legendary
Constructs were really pain with this build when i didnt have pets each fight with bunch of robots took 3 - 5 minutes. So i invested few points into wolfes and nymph. Eventually epic was much easier. Im kinda scared of going deeper into legendary because i dont wanna 'finish' my characters and with ragnarok i feel like there wont be any use of skill points.

Thank you! Poison is now really strong and I would say it scales better into epic and legendary than fire, lightning or cold damage oriented builds ;)

I am currently running a fan of knives build with poison. Plague+Gas bomb + poisoned knives. What do you mean that DoTs don't stack?
