- This video was made at the request of a customer to demonstrate the MDC Short Tone, MDC Long Tone, and DTMF Tone options for talk permit tones on Motorola HT1250 radios. Talk permit tones are designed to keep users from talking until the radio has first finished sending its unit identifier over the air. They also sound pretty cool. Custom programming, tuning, and alignment is available at ProgramMyRadio.com

my school bus has the mdc long tone
That's so awesome 😎💯
could you make a video showing how to set that up
Its very easy. Just goto signaling and you check the short tone/long tone box for MDC
Cool 😎
Does the radio have to be programmed a certain way to have this available? I don’t see how to do this in general settings
Yes this is actually called MDC. These are actually not called talk permit tones
If you want a real talk permit tone that doesn't gp over the repeater get a kenwood. They do tpt (sounds different) but have one and kenwoods are better anyway.
Motorolas have true talk permit tones too. This just seems to be a demonstration of pre-transmission MDC.
Is that long tone available on Xpr3500?
No
Yes, but it is a different sound
Is this capable of setting up on a HT1250LS?
Most of the LS models have MDC disabled on conventional or analog channels but it can be tweaked to allow it
Do these require a HAM license?
The kind of license you would need to use it depends on the frequencies that you would be transmitting on
Fake
