Dude I looked up his channel almost every week to see if he posted new content. Done that for years and I'm pretty sure I wasn't the only one. Losing Danielle meant he didn't have the stability that he had before.
We don't know why they split but the idea goes that Joe much like Kanye suffers from BPD and goes through Manic and Depressive episodes. This erratic behavior most likely caused the erosion of their partnership and their eventual breakup.
Without Danielle he kinda lost the plot; a lot of his projects have her as a VA.
These projects would remain unfinished; this was a 1-2 punch with Covid. During the pandemic he was strapped for cash and couldn't complete his projects; consequently he couldn't pay for his living expenses.
In desperation he went the NFT route much like NerdCity; no one bought them.
This lack of funds, severe stress, and of course the toll of losing someone you've been with for years led to increasing erratic behavior.

If youtubers are paid like contractors, basically being self-employed, then he probably has to pay all his years' taxes in January, which would mean writing a $10k+ or so check to the government all at once, depending on his income. @@umamifan I think part of it is just that indie art in general can tend to be pretty thankless unless you're a part of the one-in-a-million success stories. With Joe in particular I think there was a lot of failure to maintain relevancy and capitalize off of his success enough to stay financially stable that caused him to spiral and act pretty malicious towards others.

the further he descends, the more tragic this becomes. i remember watching this with a friend back during the 'rick and morty parody' era, and the eddsworld clip really brought the whole video together. it was a reminder that this man shaped our early humor, and culture just as much as someone like edd. for every server we set up, unintentionally emulating a cartoon house of four, wacky, british men in hoodies, there was some funny voice, or phrase from ukinojoe we used to communicate. from the days of early frumplequest, all the way to that monsters inc parody of better call saul i saw before i even knew about that show.
"he used to be somebody," is what my friend said to me, in that somber moment we had. he was once a pioneer of internet culture, but has now become indistinguishable from the noise that culture eventually spiraled into. whatever threshold there was separating the subtle edge in his content's memetic absurdity from turning into a full on blade to battle with, it's crumbled away. all we can do now is hope he finds his way before doing something unforgiveable. but, for all i know, he's already screwed that up - i don't look very deep at what he's doing now with how caustic the surface is.

I wouldn't say Joe is an awful person, at least as far as I know. Just going on what I've heard, he's just in a really bad spot mentally right now; he's been watching a bunch of his peers-a few of whom he didn't get along with to begin with-surpass him professionally, get pilots greenlit, etc. while he struggles to maintain relevancy despite being, in my opinion, just as talented as any of them. His partner-both his creative partner and someone with whom he was in a relationship for a very long time-ended their relationship on top of that. People who have watched his streams said he seems very depressed, and honestly, I can't say I wouldn't feel similarly if I was in his headspace.
I just hope he one day realizes that even if he never gets a show picked up or gets a foot in the door in the industry, he made stuff that is beloved by thousands and thousands of people. My creative philosophy has always been: if you can make something that is one person in the world's favorite thing, you're doing alright.

I honestly felt sad for his creation, their were times that I never seen creative art out in like that. Yeah sure UA-cam tries to take them out because of the violence, but their were good. Most think that it was the divorce that made him go this downward spiral, but I think it's not only that. Joe has also heavily relied on NFTs, unironically believing that they will be the next step in art. When NFTs inevitably failed, he doubled-down and went in this never-ending denial phase that he didn't lose so much money and faith for nothing. Kinda sad honestly.

I don't expect this to continue after episode 30 of rick and morty parody. And it shouldn't continue, because its already a perfectly paced story, where a creator making a single episode of a shitty cartoon for a quick buck, shilling out and making more episodes, getting picked up by a big budget company that doesn't really improve the garbage, just throws money at it, running it into the ground despite having a decline in writing quality, Quishby is there, and finally getting cancelled for stomping around in his ivory tower.
If it ends at episode 30 then would have run the exact length that it needed to.
I think its neat that this project was able to cover so much and address so many aspects of it. Like all the rants actually make sense if you listen to enough of them, especially in episode 27 and 28.
And I will admit, as much as i liked Rick and Morty Parody, I still miss the old, occasional non-shitpost animations. Pengis 2 came out right before this and it was really great! And ridin' a donkey is the best video on the internet objectively! And those are just the ones that released right BEFORE R&MP. Don't even get me started on the older stuff.
Anyways, assuming this is a limited event, I like R&MP as its own project. A story opposing this culture the internet loves to push, where people try to get you to care about every event all of the time.
Seeing Justin Roiland getting cancelled makes me feel about as much pure apathy as when queen elizabeth died.
"Yeah, my condolences if you care that much about that stupid adult cartoon that people don't even like the recent seasons of, but don't expect me to really care about it".
"Yeah, my condolences if you're British, but don't expect me to cry over a queen ruling a nation that I'm not in".
And its like, the internet just tries to get you to care about these big events because they're what get views.
And, ignoring for a second how the recent rants in R&MP (27 and 28) have gone in-depth about how Justin Roiland's cancellation isn't really something you need to give a fuck about, pushing complete garbage for the sake of views HAS BEEN THE WHOLE JOKE SINCE THE START OF RICK AND MORTY PARODY.
The whole time, its just been about how draining it is when the internet makes you care about everything all of the time. Just like those memes with random fictional characters crying at a TV saying that the queen died.
And I know I'm probably not the only person to think this, I'm just the nerd that enjoys trying to put my thoughts into words. Just like how R&MP is pushing joe's thoughts on the internet into youtube videos for views.
My point is, you have to have a high IQ to understand Rick and Morty Parody (Rick and Morty Parody). The humor extremely subtle, and without a grasp on social media and its detrimental effects on our psyche, most of the humor will go over the audience's head. There's also Rick's-

All memes aside, to be honest, I can't tell if Joe is just trolling and making weird stuff, or if he's actually going off the deep end. I looked at his new videos as him messing around with other animators. Oneyplays makes jokes at other content creators' expense with harmless jokes, and I at first thought Joe was doing that. But the more I look into it, the more angry and malicious it is. This doesn't feel like the Joe from 10 years ago...I know we all change, but this is a very bad change.
