@@repairvehicle That is a quick response. Its 2002 Lexus Lx470. Can I send my fluid to lab to see if there are brake fluid in it the trans fluid? These F mechanics can't stand people doing their own work. Thx
Had a jerking/hesitating transmission on a 170km 2010 Rav4. Did a drain and fill with 2quarts of Amsoil ATF and fixed my 13yr old transmission like magic. I’m a believer.
I’m due for my transmission change on my 2006 Tacoma. I’m the second owner and was told mixed response on this topic. I’m assuming Toyota Genuine WS was used. I’m going to take off the transmission pan, clean the pan, & replace the transmission filter. Am I ok to use AmsOil even though there may still be some Toyota Genuine WS? Thanks again any help is appreciated
@@repairvehicle Excellent! Thank you so much for the video and reply. Just ordered 5 quarts of AMSOIL Signature Series and will report back with results
I mixed that same Amsoil atf in a Toyota/scion FRS with around 40k miles and shifting improved. (Did it twice at about a month difference to have mostly Amsoil in). Moved on to mix 5q Amsoil into a 2015 sienna trans with about 45k miles. It is working smoothly. Plan on keep adding Amsoil in the future. Did it many years ago on two other vehicles with great long term results.
Changed my 2021 telluride at 38,000 miles, it was dark very disappointing but switch to amsoil and I couldn’t believe how nice it shifted, I thought it shifted fine before but seriously it shifts like a dream, I did 2 drain and fills until the fluid was pink again, did a Buick envision the other day had to do it 3 times but get it clean, amazing stuff
This is the video I was looking for since I'm planning on doing the Drain/Fill on my 2010 Toyota 4Runner that has only 43k miles my mom drives the truck too and only just local distance and I sometime take it out to highway when I go to work. Thank you again for sharing!
Just changed my trans fluid with Amsoil CVT fluid in my 2019 Mitusbishi Outlander Sport GT 2.4 liter engine. Did a drain and fill @ 60k. I actually changed the cooler filter (paper one) and the under pan filter (metal) at 55k as my car is used and didn't know what was done to it. Anyway, after the change it's much quieter and smoother and I just changed the fluid 1k ago (OEM J4) when I replaced the filters. Next change in 30Ka with Amsoil!
I am getting ready to change the fluid in my 2017 Mazda 3 at 72K. I was really glad to find your video -- because Scotty Kilmer says to NEVER mix ATF and ALWAYS use the factory OEM fluid. I get the strong suspicion that he is just playing it safe -- because he caters to a lot of people that know nothing about cars -- and those people should NEVER try to select an alternative on their own,
@@AbrasiveJay It went fine for the first 3.5 quarts -- I could actually feel the transmission shift smoother & quicker -- but I thought it was perfectly fine before the change. I was only doing it for maintenance reasons & was surprised that I could feel an improvement. Soon I'll do it another 2 times, along with a filter change, and I should have pretty much 90% newish Amsoil.
@@geeder9086 Yea I got quoted on a rebuild for my 6l50 5500.00$ So next option would be a Service with my own fluid and a new transmission filter. putting amsoil in it but doing this leaves 3.4 quarts in the torque converter. Thus mixing 6 quarts of amsoil with OEM fluid. So I bought 12 quarts. wonder if the Service guy will do it twice just to try and flush the torque converter of the OEM Fluid. also looking into a Throttle Control Pedal Commander. I hate the Adaptive throttle lag.
@@AbrasiveJay Will he do it? Some won't because they don't want to get blamed if they think your trans may fail right after. Have you tried to reset the A/T programming with a relearn??? It's not as simple as disconnecting the battery -- that won't do anything to relearn the A/T.
You are correct about leaving a little dirty oil in the trans. I just watched a Toyota tech claim it was good to leave a little in because it’ll add a little friction fir the plates to grab😛😛 Unfortunately I was led to believe that my 3rd gen Tacoma could go 150,000 miles before the trans fluid needed changing. I felt that didn’t seem right. Today my truck was at 78,000 on its first fluid swap. It was dark and no surprise since I live in the so called mountains and carry a couple of tons in the truck bed driving up the mountain once a month. Today I put in 3.5 quarts of Amsoil fuel signature series and bled the 1/2 quart out. I noticed an immediate improvement. I’ll run this for one month and do a 3 quart drain and fill to get it close to mostly Amsoil and I’ll repeat this in another 10,000 miles.
I switched from Motor Craft oil to Amsoil oil and the truck got 1.2 miles per gallon more. I don't care about saving that small amount of gas but I think it`s better because I get that milage from less friction. Less friction means less wear on the engine.
I’ve just change me Transmission Fluid because I accidentally add in less than a 3rd of Motor Oil into my Transmission. After I emptied it I added 2 new Bottles of TF. Then I started it and ran it in Drive then Reverse a few times. After 20mins I doing that my gas got low and The Transmission was still slipping
I went back to thee AZ store and asked if it was the correct TF and they said No. So I now have the Correct TF. But before I added I want to know if its ok to Mix it or Drain it then add New TF??
Been doing that since 63,000 on the ODO, not with Amsoil, but with Federated ATF, no issue. But I'll be going to Amsoil ATF before winter, did the switch to Amsoil Signature 5W-30 for the engine with Lucas Synthetic Stabilizer, best switch I've made for my car. 2016 Malibu 1.5T, still has the original timing chain
lucas is causing major problems to your engine. You taking perfectly formulated oil and diluting with unknown chemicals that have not been proved to provide any benefits.
Good stuff. I just got a Vibe (09 with 127k miles). The fluid is brown with a red hue still that turns purple after a long drive. Shifting is fine aside from some jerkiness when the fluid is cold. I'm just surprised how many mechanics told me to let it be, because the history doesn't show any transmission fluid change. It seems that I'm maybe 10k miles away from having damage with the old fluid.

@@elaiespinosa708 I completely agree! I’m going to do Amsoil synthetic ATF on my 4Runner. Figure I’ll do a drain and fill every time I change my engine oil till it’s complete
how do yoh go about this? keep draining over the days by taking the pan out or drain plug out every time throughout the days? or doing it every certain miles until the oem is out?
@kingdennis4327 usually when it comes out red and not dark or black (usually on the 3rd or 4th) Takes 5 or 6 amsoil changes to get all the toyota stuff out.
I am sure that if it wasn't safe a bunch of people would have sued Amsoil by now. You must think of it like this, when you drain the fluid a large portion of it is still in the torque converter and the valve body and it is not going to drain out. That is why even though the transmission takes 8 quarts you might get 3 or 4 or less out and that is normal. Just make sure to know how much came out.

One thing I wanted to ask...would you recommend putting an transmission cooler on a 2020 Tundra as toyota stopped putting those on in 2019? Some say that the resulting higher temps degrade the fluid quicker and may make the transmission life much shorter. I only have 12K on mine so far but am planning on switching to amsoil at 20K.

The car is Mercedes w211 2005 E500 v8 M113 engine and transmission is 7g tronic 722.9 the one use 236.14 MB. Appreciate your time reading my comment 🙏🙏
@@repairvehicle unfortunately that model doesn’t have dipstick anyway i will be changing the filter and gasket as well and there’s a small plastic pipe that will drop whatever is more while pushing the new oil from down. There are many stories to prevent any issue after changing oil.
To drain atf car should be called. Adding fluid and checking fluid requires special processes, I don't know how it should be done on Mercedes. If you have drain plug and fill plug. You can add same amount of atf as came out, however it's not going to be correct. Why, because atf evaporates.

I have comment from another 6.7 powerstroke owner who was using Amsoil engine oil, got over 500k miles without engine repairs. However, he didn't maintain transmission and ended up replacing two times at least.
@@repairvehicle Ok, ok, I am convinced :-). Scratch my comment about (flush), watched your other video about not flushing. Drive around a bit and repeat 1 more time. That sound like a good plan based on my original vehicle description above?
Quickly ran the numbers and if I change the ATF from the pan twice like this I end up with roughly 26.3% old fluid remaining and 73.7% new fluid in the transmission. calcs based on total volume of 16.7 quarts total, and 8.1 quarts removed from pan (these are the numbers in the book). Will measure to see how close it is.

I'm torn on what to do. I understand the factory ATF fluid that came in my 2022 Tacoma is only semi-synthetic and not full synthetic. So I agree that it should make sense to change it to full synthetic ATF fluid like Amsoil. But.........there are some master diagnostic Toyota technicians that don't like the idea of mixing. (Doing a drain and fill and having some Amoils and some factory). Some say stick to only OEM fluid for drain and fills. But do you think they are wrong and they can mix? (not foam, etc).
They are wrong. I have shown in this video results from analysis of mixing Amsoil with ws. I been using Amsoil atf for almost 8 in my Toyota sequoia and Lexus es350. I keep my vehicle for long time.
@@repairvehicle Okay thanks. I ask because my ability/method would be drain and refill the exact amount that comes out. (Drain and fill doesn't get it all out so it would be mixed).
I had a 2017 Honda Pilot, the dealership told me the same thing. You can't mix other transmission fluid, only Honda ATF-DW1. They would tell me 3X drain & fill and every time I drain the fluid was brownish. After 108K miles, I decided to switch to Amsoil Fuel-efficient tranny fluid. Almost immediately, I notice a smoother shift. After 300 miles, I notice that I was getting more MPG, was average 20.9mpg before and 22.2mpg after Amsoil. After a month, I check the fluid and it was still pinkish, never with ATF-DW1. I am a believer of Amsoil product now!

Hey repairvehichle. Are you an amsoil dealer? Do you have a link we can purchase through and maybe help you out. If so please post it, thanks for all the videos!
I have a question about drain and fills since we're talking about mixing fluids. I just did one on my '15 Sonata 65k miles. Only 4qt in a 7.9 capacity. I want to get as much new fluid in as possible. So l was wondering if l can buy Maxlife ATF (it meets Hyundai SP-4M spec) two 1 gallon jugs. Drain and fill with both, then on the last fill use amsoil. Two jugs of maxlife is the price of one jug of amsoil. I fugure l can get an extra drain and fill ensuring newer fluid. My guess is by the third fill it would be half maxlife and half amsoil. Would that be a bad thing? Or should l just buy 2 jugs of amsoil and just settle for 2 drain and fills instead of 3?
Bad idea mixing amsoil atf with valvoline on 3rd drain and fill. Either use valvoline or amsoil, but not mixing. Amsoil atf cost more because it's a quality fluid, and quality comes with the cost. There is a reason why you choose sonata and not chevy Malibu or Ford fusion.
@@repairvehicle I used valvoline max life atf in my old 98' f-150 just to get the old transmission fluid out at 60k, but it was 23 years old. Thankfully I can drop the pan, and I even have a drain bolt on my torque converter so I get nearly all the fluid out that way. Then I replaced about half of it with amsoil 2k miles later. It shifted better after the valvoline, but much better even after the amsoil, I use amsoil in all my vehicles. The next time I should have it all changed out with amsoil. Valvoline is a cheap way of getting old fluid out, and is not bad trans fluid. Better to have half valvoline new fluid with amsoil, than half old fluid and half amsoil. Remember that with drain and fills, you waste some new fluid after the first time. First drain may get 25% new. The next one is a 25/75 mix, so that 25% now affects only the 75% left, now when you drain and fill you get another 18.75% out. now you have about a 44% new/56% old. The next drain and fill only gets an additional 14% out. After 3 drain and fills, you have about 58% new/ 42% old. If you use the cheaper valvoline on the first couple of fills, you end up with much less old fluid in the car. Please correct my math if I am wrong.
@@neal8720 , when doing drain and fill there is no wasted fluid. Old fluid out new fluid in. When you drain fluid, you are removing only 1/4 of the fluid from the pan. 4 drain and 4 fill get you about 100% fluid replaced. Mixing Amsoil atf with Valvoline not good idea because you will never benefit 100% from Amsoil atf.

I have a 2018 Silverado with the 8 speed transmission. It is plagued with hard shifts and tie up feelings when in low gears (much like all 8 speed silverados 2015-2018). I have researched and researched but cannot find if anyone has used amsoil for their transmission. I am curious if this will fix the hard clunks and tie up feelings in the transmission or of it is another issue like torque converter, valve body, or software. Any insight?
I know a person who has Cadillac ATS twin turbo with 8 speed transmission, had exactly same issues as you. Replaced fluid and problems went away. Will it fix your transmission? Don't know unless you try and see if it helps, it still cheaper than transmission repairs.

Drain and fill is sufficient. But would do couple drain and fills so that you more of fresh fluid. Filter is not necessary at this mileage. Exception if you have external inline filter then replace it

I’d never do it hope it worked out!!!I’ve change my transmission fluid twice the second time on my Toyota I had what was called torque converter flex where they replace the torque converter and all the fluid under the recall shifts great now Is amsoil compatibility for all makes?

So i just changed all my transmission fluid and filter in my 98 Grand Marquis about 2 weeks ago, so instead of having to re drain all 14 quarts again can i just siphon out one or two quarts amd put one or two quarts of amsoil in? Will that help or should i do a complete drain again? Also should i use the signature series or the OE?
If you want best protection go with signature series. Yes you can extract what comes out and add amsoil. I would do two times for best results, unless you extract 4 quarts then one time is sufficient. However, if you want to do all 14 quarts then you can, nothing wrong with that unless you want to save money

I get the strong suspicion that he is just playing it safe -- because he caters to a lot of people that know nothing about cars -- and those people should NEVER try to select an alternative on their own,
How did it go? is it going?
@@AbrasiveJay It went fine for the first 3.5 quarts -- I could actually feel the transmission shift smoother & quicker -- but I thought it was perfectly fine before the change. I was only doing it for maintenance reasons & was surprised that I could feel an improvement. Soon I'll do it another 2 times, along with a filter change, and I should have pretty much 90% newish Amsoil.

Yea I got quoted on a rebuild for my 6l50 5500.00$
So next option would be a Service with my own fluid and a new transmission filter.
putting amsoil in it but doing this leaves 3.4 quarts in the torque converter.
I just watched a Toyota tech claim it was good to leave a little in because it’ll add a little friction fir the plates to grab😛😛
Unfortunately I was led to believe that my 3rd gen Tacoma could go 150,000 miles before the trans fluid needed changing.
You got it man, less friction = less wear = longer equipment life and more money in your pocket instead of dealer
Think of it this way. Whenever you do a transmission drain and fill, you are mixing fluids. The old fluid is no longer what it was.
Very good point. You should subscribe to my channel.

Really? How you feel about that Toyota and amosil mixing. It is very smoothly and better than OEM factory fluid?

To drain atf car should be called. Adding fluid and checking fluid requires special processes, I don't know how it should be done on Mercedes. If you have drain plug and fill plug. You can add same amount of atf as came out, however it's not going to be correct. Why, because atf evaporates.

What is your question?
Great video. I have a 2015 F350 V8 6.7L Diesel. Looking to switch from Mercon LV to Amsoil signature series fuel efficient ATF. Plan on completely removing the Mercon LV (flush). Any issues with compatibility between these two? P.S. mileage at about 120000 and don't think ATF has ever been changed.
No issues with compatibility. It works great on my 2013 f150; it shifts better. Doing it yourself or taking it to the shop for flush?
I have comment from another 6.7 powerstroke owner who was using Amsoil engine oil, got over 500k miles without engine repairs. However, he didn't maintain transmission and ended up replacing two times at least.
@@repairvehicle Ok, ok, I am convinced :-). Scratch my comment about (flush), watched your other video about not flushing. After seeing your other video am just replacing what is in the transmission pan (plus filter change). 1. drain old ATF, filter 2. replace with new Amsoil. 3.
Yes. Very good plan

Very informative. Thank you sir.
This is true and is like gasoline is the same just different brand names but they all do the trick this guy knows I been doing this and nevered had issues.

@@repairvehicle that makes sense, I'll just stick to amsoil drain and fill.

Here's the list of compatible transmission fluids for your awesome supra. Always like these cars www.amsoil.com/lookup/auto-and-light-truck/1990/toyota/supra/3-0l-6-cyl-engine-code-m-7m-gte-0-turbo/?volume=us-volume&zo=5257753
@@repairvehicle Wow, thanks for the fast reply! Would you recommend "OE multi-vehicle synthetic" or "Signature multi-veh synthetic"?
It depends how you drive and if you have any performance mods? Also, mileage on the transmission and how often it was serviced?
@@repairvehicle It's mostly stock with 100k miles. I don't drive it hard as often. I honestly have no idea if it was even serviced before. Fluid still has a dark pink/red color to it though.
I would use signature series because it's turbo charged engine. Also, it looks like transmission was maintained and has a lot of life left.
I have tried to research for my cars recommended ATF and cannot find anything, Maybe you know where to look better.
My concern and question is: Can the AMSOIL recommended ATF for my car be mixed with the original fluid? (I have no means to flush out all original fluid)?
My car is: 2014 Ford Mustang V6 3.7L with the 6R80 Transmission requiring Motorcraft Mercon LV, XT-10-QLVC.
Thank you in advance.
Here's the link to amsoil recommended atf for your vehicle www.amsoil.com/lookup/auto-and-light-truck/2014/ford/mustang/3-7l-6-cyl-engine-code-m-m/?volume=us-volume&zo=5257753
I have video how to replace transmission atf on 6r80 using amsoil atf ua-cam.com/video/OW5VEvrHD94/v-deo.html
Hello, I would like to ask the question please. I have Mazda 6 2017 . 45k miles on it. Never change transmission fluid. Should I flush the fluid or drain and fill. And Should I drop the pan And replace filter too? thanks
For what purpose is your Mazda being used Uber, delivery or similar services?
@@repairvehicle No. regular use
Drain and fill is sufficient. But would do couple drain and fills so that you more of fresh fluid. Filter is not necessary at this mileage. Exception if you have external inline filter then replace it
@@repairvehicle Thank you
What you recommend for 2015 Lexus ES350?
here is my recommendation www.amsoil.com/lookup/auto-and-light-truck/2015/lexus/es350/3-5l-6-cyl-engine-code-2grfe-b/?volume=us-volume&zo=5257753
Is Valvoline MaxLife full synthetic oil good oil. I have a 2nd gen Tacoma V6 4x4 and I see guys on TacomaWorld mentioning this oil all the time over OEM oil.
Factory is better than valvoline
I’d never do it hope it worked out!!!I’ve change my transmission fluid twice the second time on my Toyota I had what was called torque converter flex where they replace the torque converter and all the fluid under the recall shifts great now
Is amsoil compatibility for all makes?
It depends on vehicle. They have different fluids.
Theres two types of atf that amsoil has. Ones compatible with Toyota WS fluid. Go to their website and it will pull the the correct fluid for your Vehicle. I have a 4Runner, flushed out the factory junk with Amsoil ATF at 35k miles. Drain, dropped pan and filter replaced. Used about 20 quarts to do the flush using the tranny cooler lines. This was 20k miles ago. Works fantastic.
Thank you for sharing this information.
What vehicle has torque converter rwplaced? Toyota flex lock system sucks. Tundra and other toyotas have a recall for the tc but not the tacoma (mine) I'm debating switching fluids to see id its better or adding lubeguard
Do not use additives.
I have a 2019 Toyota Tundra 5.7 so I use this atf fluid?
Yes. There's 2 options available. I prefer signature series www.amsoil.com/lookup/auto-and-light-truck/2019/toyota/tundra/5-7l-8-cyl-engine-code-3ur-fe-9/?volume=us-volume&zo=5257753
What would you recommend for Suzuki ertiga 2022 model AT? the manual recommends suzuki AW-1

Will this product work with 2012 BMW 750Li that use OEM ZF Lifeguard 6
By the way, Nice car! Yes it will according to this www.amsoil.com/lookup/auto-and-light-truck/2012/bmw/750li/4-4l-8-cyl-engine-code-n63b44a-3-turbo/?volume=us-volume&zo=5257753
I have a 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe 105k miles on it - planning to do a fluid change, can I add this ATF? Amsoil Signature Synthetic. I bought it used and saw that the transmission was serviced - not sure what excactly that means( saw the history on CarFox Car history) Or do you recommend A/T Flush using Amsoil? Thank you in advance for your feedback
Couple of drain and fill that's all I recommend, no flush.
Here's the exact fluid for your vehicle

@@repairvehicle awesome thank you for your feedback
@@repairvehicle also I am shying away from doing it on my own since it’s a seal transmission…..I should bring it to my mechanic for this.
If you are not comfortable doing it yourself, then let mechanic do this. However, make sure your mechanic knows how to do it.
@@repairvehicle will do thank you

Which amsoil transmission fluid should I use in my 2016 Nissan sentra
Here’s the link to the fluid should be used in your Nissan www.amsoil.com/lookup/auto-and-light-truck/2016/nissan-datsun/sentra/1-8l-4-cyl-engine-code-mra8de-0/?volume=us-volume&zo=5257753

Hello I need some information on transmission oils. So I just bought a 08 Ford crown Victoria police interceptor and want to change the transmission fluid and upgrade it but I’m not sure or if u know if royal purple transmission oil is compatible with the mercon v I believe that’s what my car takes. can you help with what top grade of transmission oil I can use?
This fluid is a top grade atf and compatible. I use in my ford f150
www.amsoil.com/lookup/auto-and-light-truck/2008/ford/crown-victoria/4-6l-8-cyl-engine-code-v-v-flex/?volume=us-volume&zo=5257753
I don't know if royal purple is compatible.
@@repairvehicleso signature series? What's the difference between that and the fuel efficient one do you know?
Fluid quality and performance how it protects against wear is different between two types
@@repairvehicle so signature is the best? Then fuel efficient? Then OE?
Signature is the best and it comes as fuel efficient or multi vehicle. Oe as fuel efficient and multi vehicle is second best
Do I have to flush the transmission fluid before adding new one?
No
My Jeep JL 2.0 - 8 speed transmission was in factory Green light fluid but the Amsoil is in Red color version, is it safe for me to mix them up? Or i must to flush the old one out?
Yes it’s safe
Safe, but it will be yellow if you don't mind.
@repairvehicle AMSOIL Signature Transmission Fluid drain and fill X3 on 2010 Highlander 183,000. No record on past changes. Highlander has dipstick. Do you recommend?
What is x3?
@@repairvehicle Sorry. I meant question is replace fluid. It's best method for drain 3 times? I don't want to drop pan.
Yes, drain and fill 3 times is best way
Was this 20k miles on just 2 quarts of amsoil + oem fluid or did you replace all the fluid?
Oem with amsoil mixed
