This 10oz silver White Lion of Mortimer is the eighth bullion coin produced of a series of ten from the "Queen's Beasts" range of Royal Mint coins. These coins are based on the ten statues which stood guard outside Westminster Abbey for the Queen's Coronation, sculpted by J.Woodford RA in 1953.
The coin is 999.9 purity silver and contains exactly ten ounces of fine silver. Just like other British currency, this coin is exempt from Capital Gains Tax. Both the obverse and reverse are designed by the Royal Mint's Jody Clark.
The White Lion of Mortimer is another beast inherited by the Queen from Edward IV of the House of York and it was a favoured symbol of King George VI - Queen Elizabeth II's father - prior to his coronation. The Mortimer lion has no crown and has a blue tongue. This lion also sits, rather than rearing up, and holds a Yorkist shield bearing a ‘white rose en soleil’ (golden sun) on a half and half background.
The Queen's Beasts statues are still standing, but are currently housed at the Canadian Museum of History in Quebec. Stone replicas can be found at Kew Gardens.

You are the only reviewer who showed the coin OUTSIDE of the plastic. Thank You!
Those 10oz coins are huge! Very beautiful! I was thinking about getting one, but still on the fence! Thanks for sharing!
These coins, in any form, is Britain being Great!!
I agree with what you are saying: this White Lion looks even better in 10 oz. size! Very nice Royal Mint....I have had NO milkspots on the 2 or 10 oz versions.
😮♥️ love the designs of this collection!! Size matters and commands attention- and gets it!! SO BEAUTIFUL!!!
Nice! I love my 5oz silver ATB North Dakota quarter with Teddy Roosevelt on a horse. 10oz must be even nicer, so much detail on such large pieces.
Yeah, the Silver Bean Counter was not happy about not having room for the Completer coin in the desplay box.
Thank you for sharing !!!!!
OMGOSH...what beauties! TY Royal Mint.
That is great the Royal mint actually works with creators and collectors. Ask the United States mint to send you some 5 oz ATB coins and see how far you get.
Amazing Looking Coin
Really nice
Wow really awesome 🥈 coins 😃✌️
Great aka for this design.
I just ordered one. Wow thats one huge ass coin.
They do look great in the 10oz size. I'm glad I bought the first few, but also glad I stopped as they cost so much now!
I'll get one of these later, the US bullion dealers keep kicking the date down the road. They originally had these as shipping out today, then they've swapped to them shipping out Oct 30th- Nov 3rd. I'm not a fan of presales in general especially a month out. I have one of these in 1/4 oz gold didn't realize how buff this lion was until previewing this bigger version. Torn on the Queens beast, I started too late, have the 3 of the 10oz and some of the later 2oz and 1/4 oz gold (bull, yale, white horse, white lion), but can't help but want to get the rest. Hard to justify paying the ridiculous prices on the older ones though, these appreciated nicely for people who bought them as they released. Wish I could get the Dragon at a reasonable price, my personal favorite
Great coins, but my favourite has to be the red dragon of wales. Thank's for vid..
Thanks for showing the coin in its full unencapsulated glory. My favourite is still the red dragon of Wales
Wow our choices in preference are so different.
