Really very happy that you are back, was missing you Beaver. Very much hope your homemade copper column is still around and it would be really great if its visible amoungst the decor. Thanks for this starting guide with seeing and a bit of your outdoor surroundings. Groete Boet.
Yo Yo Yo !!! made the wash with kellogs, distilled it and put some burnt oak chips in, still waiting for the next vids cause hey i dunno what im doing lol, really enjoyed this vid but need more instruction! ... anyways great vid and hope you got that still in time for the next vid but ja life happens... have a lekker week!
Hi Steve, I wanted to get back to roots just for the fun of distilling, picking up my mini still Friday so hopefully video will be up by Sunday. Cheers
as an ex-ZA I like this a lot, I am not allowed to distil but the brewing side still makes sense to me. Hope you and your family and friends are OK after the break (I don't need to know the details, this is public, you say what you think is necessary)
Hi Tarr, We are getting back to it, one day at a time getting back to what makes us happy and enjoying life. I enjoy the brewing as well should make more videos on the subject. Cheers
Total novice here. The multi vitamins I have have fish oil in them as well. Would that be a no no to add? or would it not matter in the long run? Love watching the vids man
Mr B: I like the fact that you have relaxed the type of acid required for inverting, I think vinegar or anything of the right ph should work too. Vinegar is also something that can be home grown so maybe you want to make that as a base recipe too :) Homework ? yeah, sure, but in your own time and your lady will get a benefit if you get a vinegar plant going :)
@@BEAVERDIY I think, don't know for sure, that if you start making vinegar the vinegar 'mother' might be hard to get rid of and I would worry about future ferments. Growing citrus might be easier ;)
@@danthemann a vinegar 'mother' (I am not sure why we use mother for sour) is easily contained just like any other yeast. Think about all the effort people go too to collect wild yeast. Also, the way Mr B is fermenting in his shed the vinegar brew is probably going to have to be put outside to fight against all the other yeast :) Vinegar is a slow brew, how much of it do you need compared to, say, glass of beer :) ?
@@BEAVERDIY hi there, guys, I came across this old video from another guy here in the UK, in which he gets wild yeast for brewing *and* some vinegar going as well ua-cam.com/video/J1-S8iEbJpA/v-deo.html
12:34 First time viewer! Great video! Simple and SO informative! Can’t wait to see the mini still! Is it possible to distill this in a small pot still or alembic still do you think?
Hi Karl, Thank you for the awesome comment, welcome to the channel, yes the mini still that is on the way is an Alembic type pot still so the answers is 100% yes. Cheers
Hey Beaver…great to have you back, always so informative. I was thinking on making a Branflakes mash which i think would fall more towards a Vodka, similar to Teddys FFV recipe… would you consider the Cornflakes mash to be inline with a Whiskey? Tks
Hi Mike, I have done the cornflakes a few time, it does give a good grain flavor and as a vodka it does produce a sweet spirit, dubble distill is the way to go if you want super clean.
Hi Greg, There was a study done on ZInc in the fermentation it helps with the membrane of the yeast keeping it super charge. If you like I can send you the link to the study. Cheers
@@BEAVERDIY Yes please if it is not too much trouble. I would love to read more about it, however understand the multi table, Great to see you back, take it easy and relax you are the master! You have this!
@@BEAVERDIY I think people shouldn't add stuff until they know their water, otherwise in some areas they will be overloading and in other places underweighting the basics. I say start with the water you have, work from there.

Welcome back mate, these recipes look nice and easy. 🦘🦘👍.
A fruit juice wash? That is very interesting! I will have to give that a try for one of my next runs.
Hi Stephen,
Fruit juice is my go to if I am checking if a fruit will carry over in flavor, before I waste alot on fruit.
Cheers.
Hmmm...Back to basics! Simple is better (what mom always said). I'm interested in giving the molasses wash a go, can't wait to see how it turns out!

Hi Beaver, what does the Zink half tablet do?
zinc: specifically? nothing :) my belief is almost anything can act as a "nutrient" :) others will disagree ferociously :)
