I would decorate with nice paper, or stickers or a small colouring page that you have done. Have fun

Cute books Kori, tyfs! I have 2 alternate suggestions for an opaque white option and a swatch/color combo book. 1) Dr. Ph. Martin's Bleed Proof White and a 00 or 000 paint brush works like a dream. Stir it up well, then put a thin, dotted coating of it on what you want covered up and let it dry completely before adding ink or colored pencil to it and it works great. 2) Walmart has these books by Exceed on ruled or non-ruled paper, white or beige paper, different colored covers (Dark blue, burgundy, deep green, etc.) and I think there are 2 versions with different page amounts. The book that I have is a hard cover book approximately 8x5, burgundy, 240 numbered pages (front & back), beige pages that are ruled, built-in back inside pocket and an elasticized band to keep the book closed and it was only $12.99.

When I was looking for a good, opaque white paint pen, I ended up finding a video by Sarah Renee Clark where she did a test of all the white paint pens she could find. I ended up buying the Arteza white paint pen based on her review and they’re actually quite good. I, too, did not care for the Posca white as I found it quite translucent. Let us know what you think of the Pandafly pens.
I do have the Artezas, but I just feel they are too expensive. I'll definitely let you know what i think of these ones

Since you didn't like the color of your notebook that you're going to use for your color combos, you could cover it with washi tape!😊
I never get washi tape to stay on for long. I might modpodge things on it
