Betty as Hesione in the short-lived Broadway musical, Triumph of Love. WHAT A VOICE!!! This is for all of you BLB diehards out there (including me haha).
You're welcome, it's always a pleasure to share some footage of Betty's stage performances here. I just I hope she doesn't mind me posting them lol. It's just that I feel like musical theater fans (esp. the younger ones who are just starting out) should have the chance to witness how amazing BLB is even on UA-cam. She is without doubt the fiercest singer on the Broadway stage since Merman.
@@fkd1963 The rest of the score is excellent. There are one or two songs I like even better than "Serenity." I wish someone would post the whole cast album on UA-cam. I can't seem to find it, though I'm in the middle of looking right now.
I've never seen a bad performance by Buckley in anything. Here she does such mature yet passionate work. Not a false note, nothing remotely inorganic. I prefer her to the other Broadway stars of her generation.
I saw this show 7 times and when it closed I yanked out some of the "grass" from the stage. I wish I still had that. Luckily I have fond memories of the show and went on to direct it...
I’m new to all these Betty videos and I have enjoyed them so much. Just keep watching them over and over! I’ve always loved Betty Buckley but sadly, I never saw her on stage! I’m going to see Hello Dolly in February and I’m like an excited kid! I love the way she portrays Norma Desmond as one who is mad, yet also holds onto Norma’s dignity... she did the same with Grizabella. She is truly an amazing performer!
Betty Buckley fans if you haven't listened should check out her "With One Look" CD. Coincidentally recorded before Lloyd Webber drafted her for the London production of "Sunset Blvd". It is one of my all time favorite albums.
Wow! I don't know how you do it. I so appreciate you sharing these tidbits of history for those of us to enjoy, even though we were unable to attend. Thank you, thank you.
I couldn't agree with you more! With regards to posting the videos as well as BLB's fierceness. I sometimes feel guilty watching these videos but they are history worth sharing, so thank you again. BTW I found the two numbers she sang in Camino Real in '99 when I did a google search. They are on Facebook so check them out. Meanwhile, I live for May when I get to see Ms Buckley perform in Toronto. Bought the tickets 11 months in advance!!!
I think if the set had been better this might have had more gas. The set was just bad. Betty of course shown like the star she is. And this song was a vocal delight. Thank you posting.

I saw this show, and Betty's rendition of "Serenity" knocked the socks off the entire audience.
ARE YOU SHITTING ME OMG

I shared this video with Betty Buckley on twitter and she shared it as well, so I think she's cool with it :)!

I love this score and would so love to see the full show!
Such joy! thank you, Betty Lynn!! ♥️Xxxooo
GENIUS GENIUS GENIUS
SUSAN EGAN
I took 3 friends to see this and we were in the first row center orchestra. I adore Betty and especially this song!
Is there a link to the plot? This poor woman looks destined for unhappiness embroidered in her serenity. 🙁

Did you by any chance saw Michele Pawk (Betty's understudy) instead?
I saw this show 3 times...it's one of my favorites...and saw both Betty and Alix Korey, who was her stand by then. Loved both of them.
Lol, you're welcome! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Moonfall Does the whole show exist on video?
@@matthewalexander9514 I want to know the exact same thing!
Thanks SO much for this! It is such a special memory for me.
Knocks the breath out of me. BLB usually does that though so no surprise there.
Is that Susan Egan opposite to her?
Yes.
