I guess I'm a Tarptent, Sea-toSummit, Black Diamond, and Enlightened equipment fan boy. But, needless to say as I have maybe 3 subscribers, these are not patronized comments
BTW the vestibule is perfect for your backpack, which makes the interior floorspace huge, with plenty of room to sit up, and enough room in the foot space to avoid touching sidewalls and absorbing condensation

I just got a Protrail Li too. I'm only 5'5" but I absolutely hate having tent fabric inches from my face (currently using a Zpacks Hexamid Solo). I'm testing the Protrail on trail tomorrow -- so excited!!

I came here for the neighbor's cat, but stayed for the Tarptent. I just love how much vertical space you get inside that tent.

Sorry for the very random and late comment. I have recently bought the Protrail and seemed to run into the same issue setting up with the pegs and guylines. I put the poles in and the guylines keeping coming loose from the pegs so the tent just falls over. For the life of me I can't figure it out. I think it's the circular pegs that come with the tent, do I need hooked ones so they stay secured??? Any help or suggestion would be great

Are you still using this tent? If so, how well do the small end panels keep the wind and rain out? How’s condensation with the entry vestibule panel and the foot end panels open? I can guess it’s significant with them closed on a rainy night.

Thanks for the video. Any problem with condensation? Leaks inside the inner?

Hey Robby, how tall are you if you don't mind me asking? I'm 6 ft tall and I just want to understand how easy it was to get in? Also, I"m a side sleeper - did it feel like your feet would touch the ceiling if side sleeping? Thanks for this great video!

Thanks for the setup & quick review! I too am looking for something a little bit smaller than my duplex which is a work of art. I have similar sleeping pad & quilt & wondered about the room. This answered all my questions. Thank you for this video!!

Hey Robby! Thanks for this helpful video. I’m 6’3” and currently torn between this tent and the Zpacks Altaplex. Do you have any experience with that one? I’d rather side entry, but more importantly rather my quilt not brush up against condensation on the walls, and my guess is that this tent would be the winner in that regard..?

i've never used an altaplex. i thought about trying one, but decided against it simply because the long tent pole setup wasn't as minimally elegant (for someone who already uses 2 collapsible trekking poles) as the protrail. for many, that would be a silly reason! but yeah, otherwise, i would have gone for the altaplex

@@robbystafford8273 Ha! No that’s not silly to me. I think you better articulated how I’m finding the Altaplex to look kinda wonky compared to these clean and tight Protrail pitches I’m seeing.

I’m buying this tent tomorrow morning off Craigslist ($425 used ten nights), for bikepacking. I’ve been wary of the durability of other UL tents (Big Agnes being the de facto choice for weirdos on mtn bikes) and I want something better (warmer?) for shoulder season. Nervous about the setup. Also need to get the optional poles but might use some lightweight backcountry ski poles I can strap to my bike.

The reason the tent is $500 is that it's made of Dyneema Composite Fabric, which is incredibly durable and ultralight (15oz)

@@SamwiseOutdoors it just really seems like he has thought about every detail of accessibility, comfort, and practical design... unlike cough cough some other companies (cottage or mainstream)

My first backpacking tent was the Tarptent Motrail (2 person version of the silnylon Protrail). I love that tent but I am kind of a gear head, so of course one tent is not enough. I use the Motrail for when i can convince my GF to go on overnight hiking trips with me, she always points out how much bigger the giant "Coleman" tents are... "Sure, if you wanna carry it" I always reply. My preferred solo shelter is a hammock and tarp but I also have a Six Moons designs Lunar Solo. I also like that tent, but the panels are sewn slightly off, so i can't ever get a perfect pitch... bought it on sale for a great price so I can't complain. A DCF solo tent is on my list and I am thinking about another Tarptent... Maybe the Protrail LI or maybe if they come out with a single Raindbow LI... Not a weight weenie, but I will cut it out where I can as long as I am still comfortable. Thanks for the video demo!

Thumbs up on the Single Rainbow Li. I have the Protrail Li and like it so far for me and my 50# dog.
