Let’s take a look at them before I give you a top-scoring scripted answer!
So, let's say you just graduated college and you go into an employer and they're like, “So, why do you want to work here?” And you're like, “Well, I need the job. I need the money. That's why.” You know what? I'll tell you right now, employers don't care that you need the job or the money.
They don't care if you're poor, you're broke, you have to feed a family. It doesn't matter. They are looking for people who can help them grow and support their mission and their vision. That's what they want. So, that's how you need to answer this question.
So, if you're fresh out of college, you want to first talk about what really excites you about coming to work for this company? I mean, I don't know, it depends on the company. I can't tell you exactly what gets you excited about a particular company.
Watch the video to see how I do this and then apply it to your situation.

Don, after many years in my career I had to get back into the job market. My resume seemed to always be rejected and if I did get a phone interview it never went any further. After finding your channel I revised my resume, used your interview tips and now I have 2 job offers. If anyone takes time to read these comments, I can assure you that these tips work and I couldn't be more grateful.
Thank you Don!
I can’t tell you how good that makes me feel to hear you say that, Jake. Best of luck to you my friend
Don following your advise i got a job offer as a IT manager !! hopefully it all goes well. thank you so much from Nairobi, Kenya.
Congratulations..
Happy for you man!
@@DonGeorgevich
Could you please help on Managerial round questions and answers
Whose here because they have a job interview coming?
Me😂
Best wishes dear
I’ll say everyone. Trying to figure out best bullshit answers they want to hear.
😂😂😂😂😂that will definitely make you to be denied
I've got one scheduled for tomorrow 😊
I don't know if I got the job I interviewed for today, but I can tell you that my delivery was 500% better than it would have been had I not studied Don Georgevich videos. Thanks, Don!
You got this!
Did you get the job?
Yes, Drew, sorry! I did get the job! I listened to at least 12 of Don's videos . . . over and over, while I outlined the bullet points of why I was qualified. Best interview I've ever given, hands down. Thanks for asking!
@@brucehanify3892 Congratulations!!🎉🎉🎉🎉
I cracked an interview after watching one of his videos.
for those wanting to shoot straight to the answer, here's what Don had to say.."So, why do you want to work here?” “Well, I want to work here because I really admire the type of company that you are” and being specific about why you admire them. “And I went to school for business, and this type of position is exactly in alignment with what I'm trying to achieve; where my career is going. And so, not only are you guys looking for a business analyst, I've studied business and I think I am a great entry-level candidate for this position because of the types of things that I've been doing in college and my career path and where I want to be going."
I watched, and re-watched, Don Georgevich videos before my Big Interview last week. Guess what? I got the job! "Why We Should Hire You" was really good for me, as well as 12 Steps to Acing Your Interview. Thanks, Don!
Congrats Bruce and thanks for reaching out to me via email
I binge watched your videos before my interview and the morning of and even after (which is how i realized i need to send a thank you letter ASAP)....i got the position!
Congratulations. So happy you got the job
Some candidates may have introvert tendencies due to different cultures, very well suited for certain domain, but may not be visible in standard line of questioning. A skilled hiring manager can create a friendly environment to smell test that talent. Enjoyed the video.
Don, you are a very impressive communicator. Your casual and approachable demeanor resonates with your listeners. Thank you for the practicable and simplistic words of wisdom ;)
Research the position and what the requirements are to fill that position. Pick certain keys points about that position and use those key points that relate to you and your background, and how you can contribute and show value to the company. You are highly motivated to give the company a return on their investment into you, if you were to be hired. That’s how you can show value in an interview question like that.
When I was asked that questions - I remembered answering " I have the qualifications you're looking for" which is the the knowledge & skills of that enviroment & backround. Im certain its a common question to arise and be asked.
Don, I agree the key is "value" in the job, career, and marketplace. Great content.
Great stuff. This question really is about selling yourself and creating that separation from other candidates. Really just gotta hone in on the skills, fit, mission alignment, and any unique value that you can bring to the mix is the cherry on top.
Glad you like it
Thank you, Don. My question is how to not sound too arrogant by asking this question? A consultant said to me some weeks ago: "they do not want to hire the best of the best, you do not have to excel; you have only to show that you know the job."
I really like what you're doing in this channel. You're helping a lot of people, and asking little in return. Thank you very much
This is very good advice. My dad taught me in the 1980s when he owned his own company and I was a teenager that in job interviews your job is to translate your skills into a “value”. He showed me how to take successes or positive qualities in turn that into a positive value for a company. I have always remembered that And always try and bring that up in job interviews. I am 56 now and have only been on two interviews in my life where and I did not receive an offer for the job
I love how you are cool, calm and collective with these responses you are helping us in our interview. Thank you for giving us all advise, thumbs up
The perspective, just wow!
Thank you Don, your methods have helped me to get the job!
I have never been asked this question in any interview during my life, but it is always good to be prepared!
This is gold, thank you so much.
I love all your videos, but this one was exceptional as it put me at ease. Trouble sleeping since last week, because I'm so excited for this second interview! Hoping since this video really resonated w me, that I sleep better tonight. 😅
Thank you for the guidance Mr. Don ,I have just downloaded your top 10 Interview questions.
Thank you so much, you inspired me and now I'm ready to go in to the interview very confident and i don't need to memories a routine answers how to answer such questions ... I appreciate your time and efficiency
You are awesome 👏 best video ever . So much wisdom in explaining.
Wow. This just changed my view of this Q and help me to actually figure out what my answer is. Super helpful when you broke it down into what the interviewer is looking for in us. I'm using this in my next interviews. Thanks So Much!!!
I had this very question at the end of my interview for Boeing. I stated that, after proving my experiences with the given role, culture is very important to me. I like to come to work and get the iob done and exceed your expectation; but most importantly, i like to come to work and have fun. We spend 8 to 10 hours a day at work and when i come to work i like to get the iob done but have fun in the process.
For me my answer to the interviewer is... i want to be part of your good company because i want to share my knowlegde/skills and vision for customer satisfaction in my line of work/job.
I am calm, positive, proactive & get things done. I learn things quickly, so you won't have to train me much.
Thank you for the very important info.
Typed in title on UA-cam and you came up in recommend video clips. I seen the time and thought it would be too long of a clip but realized it wasn’t long enough so watched more of your videos on your channel. The info you provided is very informative. Thank you. You have been guiding me since the Pandemic. I got some jobs not for a long time, no but I got the opportunity. You are right the other candidates in the question Talk about you, gave these answers. Maybe is culture, social because, now I live in LATAM and I have not been looking for Anglo American companies jobs
I am determined driven and I give it my all to get the tasks done to the best of my ability and would like/hope to build my future reference.

Oh My Godddd …. I just got job offer from KPMG today . This video really helps me. Thank you.
Congratulations 🎉
Dear Don thank you for your time. Great topic
You are very welcome
One interviewer in the past asked me why they should hire me when I had no work place software development experience. Why should they hire me over someone who has that experience.
Answer: you could hire someone with experience, yes. You could also retain them and coach to their bad habits they developed or you can hire me fresh out of college where I haven’t developed any bad habits yet.
Hired!
Great answer!
Man, I really wish I watched this video before a phone interview/screening today. I just rarely get this question, but usually I do write down how I would respond for each company so I know how to answer - but for this one, I forgot. And it was just an initial screening, so I guess didn't think it wouldn't come up. But she did ask towards the end (but she never asked "tell me about yourself") so I basically used bits and pieces of my "tell me about yourself" response along with other value I can bring to the company, along with my long term goals to concoct an answer. I use a "tell me about yourself" format based on Don's tips as well as another resource on here and it basically includes showing what YOU can provide to THEM. That is a big thing I've learned from many of these interview videos - what can you bring to the table? I really hope I didn't screw that one up but I am going to keep binging these videos for sure! This one is just as top notch as all the rest! Thanks Don!
Thanks! Sir, GREAT topic
Glad you enjoyed the video
I wish I found your channel sooner! I'm not really job hunting, but getting ready to switch jobs at the company I work at. Hopefully you will give me an advantage 🙂 Your also easy to listen to, thank you.
many thanks. hope you enjoy my channel
I really appreciated your time in focus the formula for answer this question, but i spent 19 minutes and listen the same idea. I would like to have a practical example of How to answer

Hi Don, thanks for these videos. I'm wondering if you could tell me whether you have any additional tips for me, as I have over 25 yrs experience (in medical laboratory/healthcare/biotech) and just finished a post-grad program in Health & Safety--so, it is related to my experience, but not exact.
Great helpful info to help job candidates prepare to be hired by employers seeking the best candidate for the job. Keep up the good work Don.
Thank you! Will do!
Good advertisement for starting your own business.
Thnx yu sir your videos are helping me for inter view and answer
Glad to hear that
Dear Don, an important question: what about WHO the interviewer IS?
In a big company the interviewer will most likely be the head of a Dept., not the president who really cares. Especially when it comes to the IT Dept., the president of whatever company would't do the interview, even if they wanted to.
A STUNNING EXAMPLE: many years ago, I applied as a lawyer for the legal Dept. of a Bank and the one who interviewed me (I suppose he was obliged to do it because my CV was excellent) never asked anything, he talked with me about my CV for 15 minutes saying all the time "wow, how did you manage to do this and that", and then he said "sorry, you will NEVER work here". When I asked why not, he said "are you kidding me? You have way too many degrees and credentials, way more than mine, in 3 years you will end up having MY job, and I don't intend to lose it"... I was a theat to HIS JOB.
What does one do THEN?
You’re a great educator 👨🏫
many thanks
Good job advice.
Many thanks
Liz Ryan has an interesting take on this question.

Hi Don, very good talks. Downloading Top 10 Questions doesn't work for me. Tried from two different emails and nothing received.
I'm actually retired.. well technically I'm "between retirements" now and never had much problem landing jobs. I'd have to say I agree with what Don is saying. I probably would have been even more efficient if I had listened to him first. Sitting on the other side of the interview process.. nothing worse than when someone doesn't give a distinctive answer to these sorts of questions, because I like people in general and would like to hire anyone who applies but we can't. Make the decision easy for the employer in a good way rather than easy in a bad way.
well said.
What should we tell if the question asked "why you want to come for long distance for our company as you already have a good job near in your location? "
Or relocating.
I never got to the interview stage, just a letter saying I was unsuccessful in this occasion, that was every occasion. Not sure if it would have been the case in the good Ol US of A. I would have thought the rejection letters would have been more original than that. No problem any more because I am self employed and work from home, and wouldn't have it any other way, and enjoy the job I do, So stuff you employers.
Thanks for the information! I was unable to download the Top 10 Questions freebie. After entering my name and email all I get is the loading circle for more than an hour. Tried multiple times.
There was a problem with the web form. But it’s working now. Go to www.jobinterviewtools.com/top 10 and try again

Don what about 3 to 5 years of experience?
👌👌💝
Watching this late since I have an upcoming interview 😳
best of luck to you
in a given day we apply to N number of vacancies, so its not possible to remember all the JD's the role entails for in order to give a reply as to why we are a candidate they need to select?
Secondly, is it ok to ask them what the role calls for during the interview in order to give an apt response?
Pls note that most interviews don't happen overnight....the company takes time to sort out CV's then only start the procedure for shortlisting CV's and then calling candidates for interviews.
What about a Legal Secretary?
You should hire me who has a history in over coming varies matters. Pulls through with solutions. Sound like how I usually answer my question during a job interview lol OMG 😳🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🤣
It's such an American question.
it's not. It's used all over the world.
@@DonGeorgevich , I didn't mean to be rude. I worked in several Europe countries and never HR asked me "why should we take you". There are things which are normal for you that could sound absurd to me and other way around.
Any way as long that your videos helping ppl around you to get their dream job it's wonderful!
And me just learning English :)
Racist
Mine is already on the application of why do you want to work here.
that's the wrong place to say it.
@@DonGeorgevich no. The company has the question on the application after volunteer work.
Hey Don, appreciate your videos very much! What if I have working experience +10years and finished just recently my bachelor degree 😂?
what are you concerned about?
@@DonGeorgevich Thank you, Don, for your time and response. My comment was a kind of funny, rhetoric question to myself;). I'm more concerned about, what salary strategy should I choose? HR-managers see me as a junior, rookie, recently graduated, but with +10years of working experience. There is a kind of mental contradiction.
As a person who frequently puts their foot in their mouth I can tell you the wrong answer I gave in one particularly bad interview: "I cannot answer that question for you as I have no knowledge of my competition." There was a very long stretch of silence
I don't understand why i have to say all of this just to be a CASH REGISTER. How hard is it to just put some groceries in a bag or say "how may i take your order".
you don't. just show up and you'll do great.
You sound so amazing. Bet u could sell ice to Eskimos 😉
