For anyone who doesn't have La Resistance and/or doesn't like to use the spy mechanics, I'm just gonna copy-paste the guide I wrote on the previous A-H video here. It's how I got the achievement. I have no idea if this'll work in By Blood Alone, but here goes: Rush to the 'Demand A Referendum' focus. Before taking it, reintegrate the railroads and improve relations to the max (I think they need to be above 75 to impact the AI's decision) with Austria before the referendum focus finishes. The majority of the time, they will accept, though not always. If they don't, it's a restart. After they accept, do the restoration of A-H focus, and then continue doing the industrial focuses up until the first extra research slot. To see Germany's focuses without spies, you will need to turn fascist and join the Axis. So the political power spending should look something like this: First 150 PP goes to the Silent Workhorse, second 150 PP goes to the Fascist Demagogue. Then switch to Free Trade (in the future you'll need Limited Exports for resources, but for now the bonuses are nice), followed by hiring the Captain of Industry advisor (since I recommend building civs until you get rid of the Treaty of Trianon). After that fill out the military cabinet, including the chief of airforce (pick all the dudes that give army XP, and for the airforce pick the guy that buffs aIr superiority). Don't hire a navy guy, it's pointless. Do not spend any PP on decisions about flipping to fascism yet. At this point your fascism support will probably be close to 50% (or even above it), since the 'Fascist Assault Divisions' event will most likely have happened by now. If not, it will soon, unless you're really really unlucky. But there is no rush to switch yet. Spend the next 100 PP on 'Improved Worker Conditions', and only then start spending PP on switching ideologies. 'Open Up Political Discourse' will take 75 PP, and the referendum 100. You will lose the good monarchist national spirits, but it's a necessary evil. Once you flip, join the Axis. If you follow this timetable, you should be flipping to fascism when you're in the middle of doing the first extra research slot focus. After it finishes, it's time to spend 70 days without doing any focus, in order to get yourself 10 days ahead of Germany in focus time. I have never, not once, seen the Germans do 'Demand Sudetenland' early enough to warrant waiting these 70 days before taking the research slot. From now on, before taking any focus, watch what Germany's doing. If they're not demanding Sudetenland, work towards the Bled Agreement (I always make sure to save some PP for changing economy laws and such, before these rearmament focuses finish). I prefer taking 'Theoretical Air Efforts' instead of 'War Games', though you'll end up doing both eventually. If they demand Sudetenland, do 'Protect Czechoslovakia'. You are 10 days ahead so you'll finish earlier and the Czechs will almost always accept. I have had them become a puppet twice. If that happens, restart. Germany will demand your Sudetenland. Say no. You are in the Axis, they can't declare, and they won't kick you out. After annexing the Czechs (and doing the Bled Agreement), claim Transylvania. If the Germans do the Second Vienna Award and block your focus, return Northern Transylvania to Romania and you'll be able to do it. Pick Germany for your mediator. The majority of the time I've had Romania give me all of Transylvania (despite what Bitt3r says in this video). Getting Northern Transylvania is also fine, though beating Romania afterwards will be harder. The outcome where you go to war with them and the Allies warrants a restart. Then do 'March to the Shore'. In the meantime, it might not be a bad idea to take advantage of the 'Reorganize the Railway System' decision to fix the supply situation in Transylvania. Once the focus finishes, justify on Yugoslavia (retake core state). Declare immediately. Romania will be pulled in due to their guarantee. The war should be easy to win. You don't need to train any troops, the ones you get from annexing Austria and Czechoslovakia, as well as your starting troops, are enough. Just make sure to switch them to a good infantry template. I use 9/1, with engineers, support artillery, support anti-air and logistics. You should have 2 full armies and some extra (usually 3) divisions. Use one army to hold the line against Yugoslavia, and the rest to capitulate Romania. Then use everyone on Yugoslavia. Your airforce (fighters and CAS only) should be enough to get you air superiority (first over Romania, then over Yugoslavia). You can use paratroopers to make the war easier, if you want. I usually train 1 full army of 2-width paratroopers, and use them only for Romania. Can't be bothered to use them for Yugoslavia. You will obviously need to increase conscription laws and such. Limited Conscription should be enough for now. In the peace deal, annex only your core states (to be able to click the decision to reintegrate the empire) and make a wall of puppets with the rest, so that you won't have to bother with an Albanian-Greek-Bulgarian front later. After that do what Bitt3r did and kill the Allies. The following peace deal will probably be incomprehensibly retarded. I've had runs where with 15% participation I can get good land in the Dutch East Indies and the Raj for resources, and puppet Britain. And I've had runs where with 20% participation I got nothing. Literally nothing. All I could do was press 'Done'. For production, you'll need trains, trucks, guns, support equipment, artillery, anti-air, fighters, CAS and transport planes. If you plan to use tanks (which I recommend), you should leave 1 factory on Great War tanks, which will later be switched to light tanks, in order to be able to add the armored recon company as a support company to your eventual medium tank division template. Once you've researched medium tanks, switch the light tank production line to them, and re-add a light tank production line with just 1 factory, as before. I use a 42 width template for the mediums, with the same support companies as the infantry, plus the armored recon for the speed. The proportion of tanks to motorized will depend on the doctrine you pick. With Mobile Warfare you can get away with having just 4(!) motorized in your template and still be above 30 org (with 5 support companies). With 25 (eventually) factories on mediums and 3 on trucks (starting early on), I can get 8 of these divs out by March 1942 (which is around when I attack the Axis), and have more than enough trucks in reserve to motorize logistics. One factory is enough for trains. You won't need much more than 5 for guns, since you get a lot of them from annexations. Five is also enough for anti-air. Support equipment will need a few more, and artillery a few more yet. One factory on transport planes, starting from early in the game, will be enough to cover the paradrop needs. After that I delete the line, and the paratroopers. For the planes: Fighters eventually get 40 factories on them, and CAS 25. Extremely important that you get Fighter 3s and CAS 3s at least in 1941 (through the focus tree), and use a designer company for the fighters. Go for Strategic Destruction as your air doctrine, for all the buffs to air superiority mission efficiency and the agility buff for fighters. Battlefield Support is better if you can guarantee air superiority, as it buffs your CAS, but against the Germans I find that in order to achieve green air, I need all the buffs I can get for my fighters. After building all the mils you need, start building synthetics, and take advantage of the focus tree to get all the rubber techs. I don't think the oil ones are necessary. You have a puppet Romania and the middle east to trade with. You'll probably start the war with the Axis with a rubber deficit, but eventually you will get enough synthetics to take care of it, especially with all the techs. Your fighters should have priority in the production queue anyway, so it's mostly CAS production that will suffer in the beginning. That's fine. Fighters are what will destroy the enemy airforce. As for how many infantry divisions you'll need, I find that one army group is enough for the German border, and then around 2,5-3 armies are enough for the rest (initial Italian front + port guards). The fact that your puppets constantly make troops for you, and the fact that you can request control of their forces, will help. If you don't have La Resistance, Vichy France will be an active participant, but it's fine. If you push up to the Alps, you can hold there indefinitely, with around 36 divisions. Once Italy had fallen, the AI let me get green air over the alpine region with just 100 fighters and 100 CAS. Ironically, the biggest RNG factor here is how early the Germans will attack the Soviets. In my games, they always attack super early, so by March 1942 they are near the Urals and the Soviets are almost capitulated. Remember to leave the Axis when the war goal that the Germans have on you expires. I think it helps the Soviets a bit. When you decide to attack the Axis, justify on Italy to retake core states. It will take 15 days and Italy will be almost wide open. Knock them out first (I find I don't need a naval invasion), then cut Germany in half like Bitt3r did and make encirclements. With enough destroyed German divisions you'll eventually win. Take what you need in the peace deal. If the Soviets take something you need, don't worry, they are useless trash. Declare and kill them.
I watched through all your old Austro-Hungary videos (including the BfB 2021 version, the Austria version, and even the Croatian version). Finally, I finished this one... so a big BRAVO first for ending that disgusting war. I would've probably smashed keyboards long before I could finish... I will take on the Axis before the Allies when I try it later because Order 66 might be more worthwhile for the UK and France. There is still the USA, the Soviets, and the Japanese left. If you can make a new guide to this formable in the future, that would be great, as updates can change things quite rapidly :)
In my playthrough, I had a non aggression pact with Germany instead of exploiting the event. But while reclaiming my cores by attacking Italy, they joined axis and suddenly Germany entered the war as well. Somehow, I managed to encircle the whole Germany, and I mean the *WHOLE* of Germany from Munich to hanover and slowly destroyed them, it was a ton of fun
After the by blood alone DLC its so damm hard, as i attack the axes Italy has 169 division in the field and in what world Austria-Hungary has own Palistine and Jordan, sometimes i hate paradox for there unrealistic Achievements. I have no problems when it becomes difficult but i have a problem when things are just annoying only that you have 2 suffer! And sry for my bad english :D i hope you can understand me ;D
For Demand Referendum, there's a 20% chance they refuse to hold the referendum outright, but if they do hold it and you've Reintegrated the Railroads and their opinion of you is over 75%, you have a 95% chance of success. So cumulatively, it's actually only a 76% chance of success (80% chance they hold the referendum and 95% chance the referendum passes).
Unfortunately changes to WT in the recent update mean some parts of this no longer work. The Czech strategy still works but pushing WT above 20 means that Yugoslavia will always pick up a guarantee from France before the justification finishes. Still possible but a bit harder now as you will need to fight the Allies alongside yugo and romania. Would recommend waiting until WW2 kicks off before declaring on yugo so the Allied troops are distracted elsewhere.
Tried it a couple of times today, worked both times for me, no French guarantee on Yugoslavia by the time Czechoslovakia is annexed. Have you got historical on?
Oh wow! I actually just finished doing an austro-hungarian campaign, restoring the pre-ww1 borders (took 8ish hours to do) and bitt3rsteel uploads a video on it :D
I feel it's worth mentioning that In my run I tried timing my focus tree perfectly with Germany, which resulted in Czechoslovakia refusing German demands, war starts between them only for Czechoslovakia to immediately join Austria-Hungary, rendering the war null, and Germany unable to declare war through the focus because it's technically already happened.
I got that the other day with a mod that Feedback showcased called the “Cheat in Ironman” mod that gives you insane bonuses AND allows you to get achievements. Wtf
I bought this game and play it since for this achievement alone. It's ridiculous. I tried many times back at death and dishonor, spend time to understand the niche and overall strategy and made a plan, but never got the the achievement. It always turned into slugfest with all world war that my old PC couldn't handle anymore after 8 hours of playing. Trying it since basically every dlc to see if something changes. Yesterday I just took the L and the cheat mod and still spend like 5 hours on world conquest with it.
Everytime I do these I end up getting the achievement while being in the brink of a collapse. This game the soviet union was about to take my cores when Germany capitulated to me and I got the achievement after the peace conference. And for example when I got Esti is Scandi, Soviet Union was 7 days away from declaring war. Luckily I got this achievement in 1941 and not 1944 so I didnt suffer at all and it was quite enjoyable
21:12 another option is to build a supply hub in the mountain tile above Brasov and by the river. This means you can draw your frontline on the border of Romania and still have supply and more importantly you can grind a General's Mountaineer Trait. I normally put Hindy in charge of this army.
Y’know I gotta say I know they already did all this as a DLC but I feel like they could do more. Like having a balance of power to restore the single monarchy instead of the dual monarchy. Idk

Thanks for the guide, Did the achievement today, all went to plan but I gained nearly 60% war score v soviets while in axis faction which also meant zero manpower for taking on axis. Was touch and go taking out Italy and had to scrape bottom barrel and even then barely enough although straightforward taking out Germany after. Nice bonus was the Better than the Szent István achievement worked for once.
Tried this strat. Both Austria and Czechoslovakia work quite well with Diplomatic Pressure + improved relations. But Romania refuses to budge and even with mediation, it always jumps to the worst possible outcome.
In my recent run I realized you could get war economy and extensive conscription if Austria refuses the referendum. All you need is one round of war propaganda and enough pp. Makes your economy snowball way harder and you skip a couple focuses. Definitely worth rerolling the run to have them refuse.
If your aim is to have them refuse...just do the 'Take Austria by Force' focus instead. I don't believe you get any benefit by asking them nicely first, since you manually declare either way even the world tension is identical both ways. No reason to restart runs over and over asking them until they say no when you can just start the war yourself 100% of the time. It's also worth considering that the free divisions and generals from Austria accepting the referendum are likely to be far more useful to you than early war eco will be, considering the size of your industrial base pre-czechoslovakia vs. the constant manpower issues this run suffers. And once you get Czechoslovakia, you're only about 100 days away from declaring on Romania and/or Yugo anyways so you can still get your war eco and extensive conscription pretty soon after you have a real industry anyways. Using Austria for War eco is a good backup plan if you get the 1/20 no and you *really* don't want to restart though, you probably wind up close enough strength-wise to continue the game as normal if you get the full annex on the Czechs after. If they say no *and* you get the puppet though the run is definitely dead, you'll never catch up to even Italy economically (let alone Germany or the UK).

I just want to vent my frustrations, after like 5 attempts I finally got Czechoslovakia to be all mine. Then when it came down to Romania, I got absolutely nothing. I decided to go to war with them, well Germany got called in to help them so I got capped pretty quick. All my troops were on the boarder of Yugoslavia and Romania. Oh well maybe next time. Thanks for the videos by the way, I enjoy them.
You can also just wait until the Germans do the 'Assert Eastern Claims' focus, which is always displayed by the event popup and map change. After this, with historical focuses on, they will always go for Demand Sudetenland next. Even if you can't see the completed focuses, you can still see whether they have enough fielded manpower and as soon as they do, you can go for the 'Protect Czechoslovakia' focus.
Thank you so much for making this video, Bittersteel. I've been bashing my head against this achievement RNG for waaaaay too long. Keep up the great work!
Annexing the recipient of a land demand before they can reply! I used the same trick to keep Hatay from Turkey while playing as Syria in a civil war where it was the last victory point of the other Syria.
At the eventchain with romania i chose france ... but got a total reject. thought i could start the war with no problem... but ally declared on me?! would be nice if you could mention this outcome.
Tip: take Austria by force to get rid of the debuff and go up on the conscription law. Fight them in your territory, use planes and basic infantry to encircle and them overrun them.
I've tried it countless times. You got me excited enough to try again. Twice. First time Austrians were allowed the referendum but refused to join. The second time Germans didnt have enough manpower to actually demand sudetenland and declared war on ussr instead, allies throwing guarantees everywhere.. Not again. Not ever again.
Pro tip: if you take Austria by force your can near-instantly win by para dropping on the victory points. It also removes the treaty of Trianon spirit since you’re at war. Edit: use no garrison on Austria, it’ll be fine.
This was the funnest achievement I've done. I basically was the German Empire's best friend until we beat the Allies (I was lucky enough for the US not joining). After grabbing the land I could, I betrayed Germany and took the last of the land I needed for the achievement.
man i tried this and not only did Yugislavia hold their own and do encircle tacts ON ME, Romania wiped the floor with me. I had 3 full armies and i got wiped so fast.
Lol just finished this but I never would have thought to just delay clicking through the Sudetenland banner to cheese Germany. Just forced them to a NAP using spies.
Hello bitt3rsteel, i was wondering if you would like to update the guides for romania and yugoslavia with no step back dlc, please. Thank you very much and keep up the good work!
You can actually do the Czechoslovakia event after Sudetenland fires for nearly 100% guarantee! (Though that's only from my 2 playthroughs as Hungary so actually 100% guarantee)
Sometimes spy network isnt high enough for some reason. In my first run all my agents had seducer trait, got the bonuses etc. but it was below 80%. On 2nd try it was, although one agents does'nt have the seducer trait, 83%. If its below 80%, it helps to crack german Code, so u see at least for 30 days what they are up to.
Hi Bitter, tks for another nice Fun time haha!! I wanna see you suffer again with "one king, two crows" in nsb DLC, or the next by blood Alone release.
another thing you can do is instead of using the spies on Germany, you can use diplomatic pressure on the czechs and get a non-aggression pact and good opinion and they usually join us
You should always, and I mean always take Austria by force. Not only do you get rid of the treaty of Trianon very early but you can also go to war economy if you drag out the war a little. The old strategy where you paradrop on Austrian victory points still works splendidly.
I did everything like you, but germany declares war on me because they count it as a refuse of the sudetenland crisis. I waited till 2am but it still dont work
I declared war on romania through the event and didn't even notice the game telling me that romania joined the axis and called Germany in. I literally had no idea, as I was looking at the focus tree and the whole german army was halfway to Prauge. Then I got full annexed. GG
Out of curiosity, does trading for steel with the Czechs (which can provide a decent amount of positive relations) improve the odds of them getting annexed? I am not too familiar with what influences decisions.
from what the focus says, they will be more likely to accept if they have better relations with you. Usually I can get it up to +15 but I'd assume the rng gets better the more you get
Heres a tip, having multiple operatives in one state, so having 3 in Brandenburg, will speed up the rate the intel network grows, so the first gives 0.4, the second is halved to 0.2 but the growth is now 0.6, same with the third being halved off of 0.2 so 0.1 and now the growth is 0.7, which is pretty good, the only reason you want to spred the operatives around is to lower max entrenchment and planning factor and since you aren't at war with germany in this strat, it's meaningless
Correction, it isn't useless to have multiple around the country because that gives more intel overall but I would recommend having the three in one to get the first one to 100 percent fast as then it will make getting any others to 100 percent easier
Great video. But strategy for Czek is fixed. They will demand Sudets even if you goof around with timings. Update: I am shtupid... I forgot to use non aggression shenanigans on mister Shmitler. When I watched the video some days ago, it hit me like a heavy tank.
I just did it today. The French did not back me however so I got thrown into a war with the allies but everything until asking the French to mediate worked just fine.

For anyone who doesn't have La Resistance and/or doesn't like to use the spy mechanics, I'm just gonna copy-paste the guide I wrote on the previous A-H video here. It's how I got the achievement. I have no idea if this'll work in By Blood Alone, but here goes:
Rush to the 'Demand A Referendum' focus.
So the political power spending should look something like this:
First 150 PP goes to the Silent Workhorse, second 150 PP goes to the Fascist Demagogue.
For the planes:
Fighters eventually get 40 factories on them, and CAS 25.
Declare and kill them.
blud what
I watched through all your old Austro-Hungary videos (including the BfB 2021 version, the Austria version, and even the Croatian version).
A suggestion to get more spies is to take over Spy Master. You won't need to fire spies for more slots that way
For Demand Referendum, there's a 20% chance they refuse to hold the referendum outright, but if they do hold it and you've Reintegrated the Railroads and their opinion of you is over 75%, you have a 95% chance of success.
So cumulatively, it's actually only a 76% chance of success (80% chance they hold the referendum and 95% chance the referendum passes).
I had 5 games where I did Diplo pressure, Reingtergrate the railroads, AND had a 100 opinion and austria said no
I like seeing the ultimate guides mixed in with this content. Loving the videos as always!
36:43 I have had a tough week but I absolutely died here😂
Unfortunately changes to WT in the recent update mean some parts of this no longer work.
That timing on the Evidenzbureau was slick.
Wtf
Why is everyone doing this achievement?
Isp did it too
I had that same question
Idk cuase why not
I bought this game and play it since for this achievement alone.
@@martind5653 you had fun with other nations in the meantime?
Congrats on 100k man, been here since 5k, I knew you would do it.
Y’know I gotta say I know they already did all this as a DLC but I feel like they could do more. Like restore the Holy Roman Empire or have like a pan-Slavic state rather than the end goal of Austria-Hungary being Austria Hungary. Like having a balance of power to restore the single monarchy instead of the dual monarchy. Idk
You can form the holy Roman empire, there's just an ungodsly amount of RNG
@@sarmeister1699 I know but I mean like under the Habsburgs, idk I just feel like they could do so much with an Austria DLC, or make a secret focus tree for Austria-Hungary
@@connorb.4790I'd much rather that Austrian Empire, it went downhill once the Hungarian's came into power

But how do you even get the hungary focus tree?? I only have army, naval and like that?
@@boronnu2563 You need the Death or Dishonor DLC.
Tried this strat. Both Austria and Czechoslovakia work quite well with Diplomatic Pressure + improved relations. But Romania refuses to budge and even with mediation, it always jumps to the worst possible outcome.
How did you get Austria to join? I've only ever gotten them to join the empire when I turn off historical accuracy, no matter what I try lol
@@riceserket4093 Did you use Diplomatic Pressure and max out relations?
@@RayPall I might've not had my relations maxed, I'll be sure to do that
@@riceserket4093 Certainly do. You may still be screwed by RNG, but the likelihood is lower.
@@Kandall05161 The focus To take it by force is treated like a 70 day war goal preparation and so the Austria AI will move troops to defend the border, but if you go for the referendum and they refuse you get to attack them with their pants down

Had France mediate while guaranteeing and they joined the war against me.
I have found that just improving your relations with the Czechs gives a pretty much hundred percent chance even if you don't do the railway focus
Thank you so much for making this video, Bittersteel. I've been bashing my head against this achievement RNG for waaaaay too long. Keep up the great work!
39:59 You need to take Lebanon for the achievement
Annexing the recipient of a land demand before they can reply! I used the same trick to keep Hatay from Turkey while playing as Syria in a civil war where it was the last victory point of the other Syria.

I prefere war with Austria. You can get War Eco and take down Treaty debuf and skip 1 focus by it in 36 or early 37
no
Exactly
how do you micro tho
Pro tip: if you take Austria by force your can near-instantly win by para dropping on the victory points. It also removes the treaty of Trianon spirit since you’re at war.
Edit: use no garrison on Austria, it’ll be fine.
This was the funnest achievement I've done. I basically was the German Empire's best friend until we beat the Allies (I was lucky enough for the US not joining). After grabbing the land I could, I betrayed Germany and took the last of the land I needed for the achievement.
love your pronounciation of german words, cuz while it aint wrong, it is deffinitely unique
man i tried this and not only did Yugislavia hold their own and do encircle tacts ON ME, Romania wiped the floor with me. I had 3 full armies and i got wiped so fast.
If someone doesn't have la resistance dlc make sure to spam 2 width cavalry divisions to increase the chance of czechoslovakia being annexed.
That has 0 effect on whether they choose to be annexed.

Your blind lol
Relatable way to chill and have fun
Thanks for a great vid
you are the best and thank you so much!
