This video was concise & displayed the job perfectly. I ordered the trim tools for my wife's broken side mirror. (I used your Amazon link) I dismantled the door in about 15 minutes after carefully taking my time to not fracture any parts, but the problem was the replacement part. The blinker didn't work. The blinker had a faulty LED lamp. So, I deconstructed the old broken mirror and used the blinker part on the new one. I figured it was either the wiring didn't match or the blinker was bad. I swapped out the part, plugged it in, and wah-la! It worked. My wife was pretty happy. THANKS A LOT!

Followed your video and in just under an hour had it replaced. This was an excellent video with great instruction. Thank you very much for making this. Definitely spend the $10 on the plastic removal tools.

I explained that you have to get the right mirror for you car. If you don’t have those features on your car, then you shouldn’t buy the mirror that has them. Just get the correct replacement and it will work.
All the replacement mirrors have to be painted? Mine is completely fine on the back of the mirror. does the back pop off so I can just swap that unto the new one and not have to have it painted to match?

It can’t be loose unless it was hit or the nuts were loosened. Those nuts wouldn’t come loose. You can try taking the inside plastic piece off and make sure the nuts are tight, if they are you will need. A new mirror.
I just took it off and put it on the new one. I used a lot of glue underneath because it didn’t click in to new mirror perfectly. This is only glue I would trust for this after cleaned both parts with rubbing alcohol - amzn.to/3om7XPB
I pulled it out gently from the outside edge where the blinker is. It eventually popped out. Mine was cracked on the outside edge so when I put the painted one on it didn’t stay on. I had to clean both pieces with rubbing alcohol, then use CA glue between the new mirror and old painted piece to hold it in place. It hasn’t had a problem to this day. If yours isn’t cracked like mine then it may work fine, but it’s loose at all, you must glue it!! This is the best glue to use - amzn.to/2VCqGb8
Thanks for the video. Made replacement easy. My problem is my 2017 RAV4 mirror has a built in camera. For the life of me I cannot find a side mirror with the camera in it On any parts places online. So now the replacement I installed is missing that element.
I tried. But it's not possible. First of all the base of the mirror casing with the camera is a slightly different fit. And even if it wasn't, it would require almost complete disassembly of every component in the mirror housing to disconnect all the wires. And then to try to pull all that out thru the harness hole would require wire splicing.
Thanks for the explanation. I’ve never seen the ones with the cameras in them. I did something similar with my F150 to add an extra LED in the mirror and front of it for parking lights and turn signals. Then waterproofing it and drilling out the harness to run wires through for the new power needed for them. Finally having to disassemble the entire assembly without breaking the mirror :) I’ve been customizing things for lever 30 years and I know it’s a massive undertaking. I’m guessing they don’t have them in the aftermarket because the camera alone would cost too much. Cameras aren’t expensive but the connection to factory and getting that exact camera sensor would be a pain. I’m guessing your OEM mirrors are probably $500-700 from Toyota each.
Did yours have blind spot detection? I saw that you commented on someone’s comment that they need to make sure they plug it in. Did this video show that?
No mine didn’t. You will have to order the correct mirror for your car if yours has other options. You can use my link to get to the mirrors for this car, then the other ones with options should come up on that page. 😎
I have 2013 toyota rav4 XLE AWD im not sure if its heated or not, could you please help me i really have no idea it does have power and turn signal with manual close!
Is there a way you can make a video on how to get the cover off. I've looked at manuals and it says to use a screwdriver to disconnect clips but, I'm almost at the point of breaking it, at least that's how it seems. I have the version without the blinker though.
All you have to do is grab the outside of the top of the cover and pull up and out. I would do it after it’s mounted and pull it towards the front of the car. Just do it gently with even pressure.
Don't have a video for that but you can probably find one. Most mirrors need to be angled up to access screws or clips. Be extremely careful when pulling the glass mirror off. 😎
I think someone bump into it going to the opposie sidw thats why it doesnt lock when you move it to an agle. seema like something came off or broke. Thanks

You won’t have a factory switch to turn on the heat so you will need to install that and run wires to mirrors. It’s a really big job that isn’t worth it unless it’s always freezing where you live.

Quick question, i was following your steps but my plug in was circle instead of square. The mirror i bought had a square plug in but my car connector to the mirror was circle.
You probably bought the wrong mirror unfortunately. Make sure the one you get has all the same features as what is on your car. i.e. heated mirrors, power mirrors, turn signals etc.
Name It Build It I thought I got the right mirror as I searched on an amazon for 2015 rav 4 passenger side mirror and it popped up. It even had a option to check if it matched your car and it said it did as I put in the info
ANY company’s car part compatibility checker has some flaws. Never ever go by that. Always check the part against the part company’s website or just looks at the features of the part itself before you buy. This is just an unfortunate part of life. The car part checker doesn’t know what exact parts or packages you have in your car, it only know what year, make and model/sub-model you enter. Not your fault at all.

I have a right side mirror that matches your above criteria but doesn't look like it's heated. Do you have an amazon link for a product that has the signal and is power but non-heated?
Anytime! I know it’s a little expensive but this glue works WAY better with activator. Just read instructions when using. You can spray inside of cover and put gel on mirror then have a little time to position them just right. use liberally when you are ready. Do it in a very well ventilated place as the fumes are very strong. I would make sure you know where and how to put the painted cover on with the clips, then after your comfortable putting them together, then do it with the glue permanently. 😎
@@NameItBuildIt There is about 1/4" gap between the painted cover & mirror piece in only one corner for my rav. Will this glue be strong enough to bind that 5" section together? I tried gorilla glue but didn't work.

I have a 2013 Rav4 my side mirror is just loose, do I have to replace it or is there a way to pull it apart to tighten it?

Cameras aren’t expensive but the connection to factory and getting that exact camera sensor would be a pain. I’m guessing your OEM mirrors are probably $500-700 from Toyota each.

No mine didn’t. You will have to order the correct mirror for your car if yours has other options. You can use my link to get to the mirrors for this car, then the other ones with options should come up on that page. 😎

I have 2013 toyota rav4 XLE AWD im not sure if its heated or not, could you please help me i really have no idea it does have power and turn signal with manual close!
I have an XLE and it doesn’t have heated mirrors. I believe they only come on the limited for 2013-2015. 😎

Is there a way you can make a video on how to get the cover off. I've looked at manuals and it says to use a screwdriver to disconnect clips but, I'm almost at the point of breaking it, at least that's how it seems. I have the version without the blinker though.
All you have to do is grab the outside of the top of the cover and pull up and out. I would do it after it’s mounted and pull it towards the front of the car. Just do it gently with even pressure.

Don't have a video for that but you can probably find one. Most mirrors need to be angled up to access screws or clips. Be extremely careful when pulling the glass mirror off. 😎
I think someone bump into it going to the opposie sidw thats why it doesnt lock when you move it to an agle. seema like something came off or broke. Thanks
If that’s the case I would replace it. If it doesn’t lock, a tab broke inside that can’t be replaced. 😎

You won’t have a factory switch to turn on the heat so you will need to install that and run wires to mirrors. It’s a really big job that isn’t worth it unless it’s always freezing where you live.

Keep them clean. They don’t really freeze unless it snows and the temps are below freezing.

Quick question, i was following your steps but my plug in was circle instead of square. The mirror i bought had a square plug in but my car connector to the mirror was circle.
You probably bought the wrong mirror unfortunately. Make sure the one you get has all the same features as what is on your car. i.e. heated mirrors, power mirrors, turn signals etc.
Name It Build It I thought I got the right mirror as I searched on an amazon for 2015 rav 4 passenger side mirror and it popped up. It even had a option to check if it matched your car and it said it did as I put in the info
ANY company’s car part compatibility checker has some flaws. Never ever go by that. Always check the part against the part company’s website or just looks at the features of the part itself before you buy. This is just an unfortunate part of life. The car part checker doesn’t know what exact parts or packages you have in your car, it only know what year, make and model/sub-model you enter. Not your fault at all.

Just took old one off and glued it on new mirror with CA glue in tabs 😎

Anytime! I know it’s a little expensive but this glue works WAY better with activator. Just read instructions when using. You can spray inside of cover and put gel on mirror then have a little time to position them just right. use liberally when you are ready. Do it in a very well ventilated place as the fumes are very strong. I would make sure you know where and how to put the painted cover on with the clips, then after your comfortable putting them together, then do it with the glue permanently. 😎
@@NameItBuildIt There is about 1/4" gap between the painted cover & mirror piece in only one corner for my rav. Will this glue be strong enough to bind that 5" section together? I tried gorilla glue but didn't work.
