The first time I came across Phoenix Nights me and my mate had fallen in from the pub slightly the worse for wear. We turned the tv on and for about 20 minutes we thought we were watching a very strange documentary on working mens clubs in northern England - it was the episode with Clinton Baptiste. It wasn't until my girlfriend turned up and pointed out it wasn't a documentary we realised. In our defence we were quite drunk although we did live in the north of England and there are loads of funny, warm people like the characters of PN there, and the show is not far from the truth. Still one of my favourite programs to this day.
I live right near the Phoenix Club, there are a few scenes particularly hilarious to me due to my familiarity with the area. In one episode, Brian is driving along the main road near me past a shop, in the next scene where he's driving he's further back down the road that he was before when driving in that direction. Also, when he's being escorted by a police officer when he fakes a heart attack he turns down onto a motorway to get to the hospital, IRL that's the complete opposite direction to the hospital and you wouldn't go over the motorway at all to get there.
@@taffe316 that's why I said more lol, 5k views wasn't a bad amount back then. There were later seasons where the intro changed, along with the dungeon itself, and actual storyline villains etc.
