  • If you like this video, I have a poker training video series at www.readingpoke.... I'm Zach Elwood, author of the Reading Poker Tells trilogy of books. This video is an examination of some verbal indicators of verbal uncertainty and hesitation, which will often indicate a strong hand.

    Thanx Zachary, I'm a student of your teachings and observations. I've taken it to the next level and have become a great reader of people on and off the poker tables. Your framework on categorizing the tells is genius.I also study lots of video because understanding it in real time is of upmost importance.Waiting for your next book.I have about 75 poker books in my library as I'm a student of the game,but your books are the ones I keep on the top of my list.

      Thank you, Frank. That means a lot. While I sell a good amount of books not that many people let me know that the stuff helped them so it does mean a lot.
      Don't know if you know, but I released my third (and final) poker tells book this year: Exploiting Poker Tells.
      Best wishes on the poker table and in life.

    Small production suggestion: NEVER open a video with x seconds of black screen and silence

    FBI forensic analysts call this "deceptive behavior". When your non-verbal actions do not line up with your statements (or in this case, with your chip actions).

    In the 2 pair hand where he said "all in I guess" he is really only gonna get snapped of by better hands, I wouldn't say he's overly comfortable shoving his stack in when the flush and the 89 just came in and several 2 pair combinations beat him................ he's really saying "idk what the eff to do here so im just gonna bet and hope im not beat"

    I`m kinda torn on this. Lidell has bottom 2. You really think he feels super confident?

      +LLlap I agree. I don't think it necessarily means he's super-confident. I think it mainly means he's not bluffing, which can be a range of decent/strong hands. I mainly think he'd be unlikely to be this loose if he were bluffing.

      +LLlap Lidell is a fighter, not a poker player. He thinks two pair is the nuts.

      @LLlap 9 років тому

      +jon so in your experience an amateur comes to play with the pros and starts to play bootm two, a hand marginally better than TPTK as the nuts?

    • @Imslightlyobnoxious
      @Imslightlyobnoxious 9 років тому

      +LLlap well as a general rule, fish are more difficult to take off marginal hands because they over value them.
      however there is a missing ingredient to this discussion, in that chuck liddell, and I know this because I'm also a mixed martial arts fan, speaks with uncertainties a lot. many "I guess" and "uh's" riddle his normal speaking.
      I think this is an example of liddell simply playing for the fun of it. I doubt too much thought process went into his decision making. so although I enjoyed this video, I don't think this example was a particularly accurate one.

      +LLlap I don't think it means he's super confident. I only think it makes a bluff unlikely and indicates someone more on the relaxed side. I might have phrased it badly in the video, I don't remember. Usually relaxed behavior just removes a bluff; there can still be a lot of decent but not great hands in someone's range.

    lol In the movie, Damon's character cites the Caro principle in the Atlantic City scene. Props to you, Ellwood, for footnoting Crazy Mike.

    the liddell example is not a good one. Liddell is not an idiot and with an Ace on the board he could well be facing a better two pair.
