  • I was so excited to explore and fish up this little stream from the beach. It's so cool to see how many fish were happy to eat dries and nymphs!

Fantastic video! Excited to see how such a simple little river into the sea yielded such a great result. Your step-by-step exploration up river was very educational. Good stuff, thanks Tom.

Great vid Tom. So interesting to see how widespread our wild trout are in Victoria. We are lucky to live here and have an almost endless amount of rivers to explore.

It is a special place 👌No stockies in the Otways, all wild self sustaining fish

Those silver browns are without doubt Sea Trout. We catch Sea Trout as much as 20 miles up rivers here in Ireland so it's inevitable you'll get them 100 meters from the mouth of a river. Well done mate 👌

Another way to identify (other than the obvious silver) is their eyes are typically lighter, like a light yellow or light brown rather than the darker shade a river brown would be 👍

Love it Tom, as a Surfcoast local who fishes the Otways every weekend you’ve definitely opened my eyes to check some other options.

Good work Tom. I eyed some of these rivers last year when surfing down that way. Next trip will be rods packed too.

Fantastic video Tom, I've always wanted to give those rivers a go with fly, use to see some nice size browns in the mouth of the Erskine when swimming as a kid.

Keep fishing those Otway creeks and you may come across the australian grayling (cucumber fish). Great vid, entertaining and educational, as always.

Awesome video mate! Have a holiday house just next to this little creek in Skenes Creek, don’t have a fly rod but maybe I should get out there with some spinners and try to catch a trout!

Wasn’t a guess I know what creek it is .
Nobody owns the water Rob least of all you
Fisherman do their research and foot slog to find spots most times for no result this has been happening since start of angling and this will never change if think otherwise your living in a dream.

    • @scod3908
      @scod3908 Рік тому

@@robcandy8319 Funny thing is fly fisherman will trudge through kilometers of creek stirring up silt, hook dozens of trout they don't intend to keep, spook the fish through the whole creek, support stocking of invasive trout into our waterways destroying the populations of local fish...
...then they'll claim they care about the environment!
Taking these trout out of the river is a *good* thing. They should only be in lakes and a limited number of isolated river systems. Between european carp, trout and perch our native species are decimated.

Usually love your vids. Suddenly not so sure about you publicising my local creeks!!
I'm sure you're fully aware that this year in particular, has probably been a 1 in 20 for conditions. Usually, by now the stream levels are dropping and the temps rising. They're delicate little places. Even by the end of this week, the crowds will hit the coast, and drier times are forecast - reckon you might have hit a very sweet moment! Still, great work as usual. You met some chonky little fish there!

    • @sopheven

Clearly identifying the location leads to your city anglers showing up, taking home anything they catch but leaving behind their rubbish. Yeah, good video though

So damn cool Bro! Gotta make a mission west soon! Did you have a crack at the bream too? Merry xmas to you and your loved ones and I look forward to seeing/reading more of your flyfishing adventures in the new year.
