- WELCOME BACK! This is our 3rd annual Uke Challenge. This month we will be learning 15 songs in 30 Days. Today will start with the easiest song and gradually increase the difficulty of the songs as we progress through the challenge.
Today we are learning Dreams by Fleetwood Mac.
We will need chords F and G. To make things more advanced, we can add Fmaj7 and G6.

I am trying to memorize the lyrics. I play slower, but I can build up speed later. Thanks for this challenge ! I am 69 years young, and just started playing ukulele. All thanks to you beautiful lady !

Houston we have a problem! I always knew I couldn’t sing and strum at the same time, but today I learned that I can’t even strum while YOU are singing!! Other than that I’m very excited for this challenge!
I call this my "spell of silence"!
I managed to play 'imagine' all the way through plus singing 🥂 I also harvested my first ever potatoes 😂

I was a little bit worried at first as I didn’t know the song at all, but I practice with Bernadette’s video, I practice with the original music video, I practice with the song sheet, back and forth and back and forth again and I think I’m getting the hang of it. I like the two extra chords too. I played them in David Bowie’s “Space Oddity.” I liked them then and I like them in this song too.
I've only been at this a month or so (another old dude doing ukulele lockdown!), but it takes more than "easy" to motivate me. It needs to sound cool. So with Fmaj7 and G6?!?! NOW WE'RE TALKING!!! Just the push I needed to learn two new chords, AND get me excited about finally learning all the lyrics after 45 years. 🤣Thanks for always adding that little extra to everything you do!

Whoohoo! My favourite time of the year... the 30 day challenge 😃 I've dug my laminator out of storage to keep the printable sheets pristine forever and I'll have another fine 30 day challenge album 😜
For those of us who find F and G easy, I suppose this is a good opportunity to practice the more advanced variations of the chords down the neck.
Thank you Bernadette for hosting another 30 day uke challenge! It's hard to believe that I started learning the uke only a little less than a year ago and your challenges have really been a treat. I look forward to the new songs! Everyone, remember if the tutorial goes by too fast you can change the playback speed to 75% or 50% speed or just play along to the original (which seems a bit slower).

Day one woot! Tough for me to sing....being a male tenor, I'll mess with a capo to adjust to my range. Loving it though.....uke on sweetie. Great advice on memorizing songs, I was a singer in rock cover band and that can be hard with alot of songs (30 song set lists), but its so worth it. I started with single words on the chord change and then filled in the rest.
Thank you for starting another group adventure. I appreciate the time you spend with us, sharing inspiration and encouragement.
My friend came over today, and we ate Singapore noodles & shrimp on the deck while we caught up with one another.

I've never heard this song but I love it! Maybe humming will help to break my "spell of silence" during Island strum. Thanks for reminding to breathe!
I'm excited for this challenge. I have only been playing 3 months, but with Bernadette you improve greatly over those 3 months. Yes, she is THAT good. Thanks Bernadette for giving us another challenge to keep our brains alive and kicking.

Thank you! The hardest part of this song is singing it! I used your chart when I did this song for my 100 days project. Today my uke band practiced outside and discussed if our band a name should be The Flea Circus. (Fleas make me itch)

Yay! Loved this song during lockdown. Despite growing up hearing this on the radio for years, I've never memorized the lyrics beyond the chorus. That challenge to memorize the rest of the lyrics is perfect for me.

It would be worth mentioning that you're using reentrant tuning (c) instead of traditional, or English, tuning (d) if one wants to follow along.

O m Gosh I just bought a new Baritone and decided to try this challenge using it FUN but hard trying to figure how to change from F to G and back but I am loving it!!! Thank you so much for doing this you are very generous!!!
I've just wandered in here, and was curious. I MAY consider buying a uke to try to follow along. My previous attempts at playing guitar have been...interesting, so I stick to piano and stuff. You have taught students in person, and you're really good. The reminders to relax, to breathe and to look up come from lots of experience with tense students and hyper-focused students. Given my varied history with music teachers, I'm an instant fan. The fact that you look a little bit like Annie Murphy ("Alexis Rose") is a bonus!!

Im so thankful for your channel! I just got my first uke today, I played the violin for 6 years when I was younger and wanted to try another string instrument as I hit my 30s. Anyway the transition is difficult but I know I need more practice and patience with myself. You're a great teacher!

To get the feel for the song I played it on UA-cam and sang along with it without playing a note, I found that just playing along without singing I manage it just, but when it came to singing and playing it was a different story, its not a song I like so I don't think I will try to memorise it. 😎

What works for me when I don't know a song is that I listen to it 1-3 times, then I put on my headphones and try to play along with it and/or sing. And finally I do it without the song.
Grateful and love the song sheets but also love when they show up on the video to remind me what the chord looks like

love this song ! The thing i struggle with most, apart from having short stubby fingers not being able to reach more challenging chords, is strumming patterns--i have terrible coordination problems but am not giving up and ready for the rest of the challenge !!!!

I never heard of this song & I have difficulty appreciating & learning new songs (esp those that doesnt have cool melody in them).
Howeverrr...I tried listening to the original via my ukulele special playlist and now I think this will be one of my fave piece to practice with. Will be trying to play along with the original to get more the hang of the song
(thats how I learned & loved "have you ever seen the rain" from uke challenge 1)
