My go to fly rods are 8wt and 9wt switch rods and Rio switch chucker lines. Fish Salmon river, NY and there you’ll definitely hook into some bruisers-25-30# ! One of the toughest fish to catch n land on a fly IMO. You’re right on reels Alex, even in fly reels also ! My favorites are the Nautilus NVG and SilverKing . Been fishing the same two flyrod n reel set ups for last 10yr + no problems. Pays to spend some money up front and be done.
Nice. I was so stoked to see you start making videos again man. I think I can speak for us all to say we appreciate it. Really cool to see Russ getting out there with you too 🤙@@alexlafkasfishing

@TedJ71 steelhead and salmon are about the only freshwater fish i think you need an expensive reel for.
When you’re throwing flys for kings and coho, what type of rig are you using? Maybe a video in the next week or so?
I can do that. Might go over it on the next float. Basic run down is 9wt, 300gr, 20 pound tippet

Gotta try
Hi Alex thx for the content great stuff. Would you try streamer fishing steelhead, or stick to eggs n spin.(in NY)
We streamer fish steelhead a bunch. Definitely better one the salmon spawn has wrapped up. 3 to 4 in natural stuff seems to work best
I fish NY a lot, spring time fishing the drop back steelhead (returning) is one of the best times for streamers ! They’re hungry and aggressive.
