Love your take on it. I'm in North America and took the time to do national and international certification. Would highly recommend it. Even artists need to speak the same language and know why they do things a certain way and tricks to get desired results faster. WORTH EVERY PENNY. and yes. Some of the best people in my life are flower friends I've met along the way.
Totally agree - Flower School was the best! Full time study with 14 other like minded flowery people just like me and the knowledge gained set me up for a 20 plus year career and still going.
Yes, please more about your early year business journey…and wondering about refrigeration walk in vs reach in? How do you keep a refrigeration unit in an at home business without it all taking over your home?!
Most of the florists I know either just use a small A/C in a dark room (cover the windows so there's no light). From there, setting up a Cool Bot is a super popular option. We did invest in a reach-in flower fridge and I regret buying it...🥴
While my formal training was in interior design, the knowledge I gained about shape, colour, texture, material, balance, rhythm and harmony were invaluable and easily applied to a wide range of businesses. Even now, decades later, it makes making bouquets from my small scale urban flower farm relatively easy, and with a far different end result than the standard formulaic market bouquets others make. At the time, I didn't feel I learned that much, but in hindsight, I sure did.
I truly love your videos. Your topics honestly always hit right where I am at. I am going into my 3rd year of flower farming and selling my bouquets and it has been a struggle. I get more compliments on my bouquets than sales! So frustrating! I have been looking at getting certified and ran across this video - your content always hits home for me. A million thanks for all that you share!
