  • West Asian waters continue to be fraught with danger. Iran has released a video showing the United States' aircraft carrier being forced to leave Persian Gulf on December 14th. This comes after an Iranian drone flew dangerously close to US Aircraft carrier d. Eisenhower a day prior. Washington has dubbed Iran's action as provocative and unprofessional.

    With all due respect, the Iranian's did not force this carrier to leave the Persian Gulf, no matter what delusion Iranian officials are under. And no where in the radio transmissions you have in this report did the Iranians order the carrier to leave the Gulf. Ships come and go all the time. There is a major US military base in this Gulf and ships will go to and from that base regularly. To me, this is a misleading headline,

    • @sugarfoot2271
      @sugarfoot2271 5 місяців тому +34

      Maybe so. But Iran does have hypersonic antiship missiles that can very well sink an aircraft carrier, if the carrier is within the missiles range. Advanced missile technology and drone technology have completely changed the battlefield. What was dominant on the battlefield yesterday may be a liability on the battlefield today.

    • @alvanalvino
      @alvanalvino 5 місяців тому +4

      Protect what shipping lanes? Why do they have to have warships in many waters across the world? The Iranians can scare a ship like that with that many war planes on board. It pays that they are being monitored. That is valuable military intelligence for the Middle Eastern countries in the distant future if they ever go to war against the USA. They can sink all of its carriers and airforces in the region in one switch attack. The USA is creating problems globally. Their military protect the flow of the world’s wealth to America at the expense of indigenous peoples globally. They are the villains and event of world peace, of the fight against eradication of world child poverty and global warming. I don’t see foreign vessels patrolling American waters or waters off their interests. This is something countries need to do. China and Russia plus the Arabs should do business deals that enables them to build military bases next door to the USA and see how they like it when people say they have a right of way to sail in and out of said waters. Sometimes bandits protect their theft routes and victims so they have a monopoly to continue the trade. It’s called Western interests, capitalism and globalisation.

    My experience the Battle Group Commander and/or the President decide where the carrier will go. "Forced" would be an order from one of those to report to a different AOR.
    The carrier is either done with its deployment and heading home or is going to a hotspot to support operations there. My money is on Red Sea/Gulf of Aden,
    Can't let the Burke have all the fun. Plus it may need to be relieved to eload at some point. Usually you like to be fully loaded at all times.
    A good example how POV in news can change a story 180 from reality.

    • @Blessed381
      @Blessed381 5 місяців тому

      Stationed on a carrier in the Mediterranean as well as worked in Operations. We don’t sit stationary, we patrol continuously while on deployment.
      All areas are hotspots, we constantly stay on alert while on deployment. They’re not leaving, you leave when another ship comes to relieve you. Neither battle groups have been on station 6 months.
      We do leave, and have a liberty visit in another country for 2-3 days. Then return back on station. It’s NOT easy being out to sea and just seeing water and the sky. We work all day. People have to relax and unwind and be normal for a few days.

      The Strait of Hormuz is International waters. Ships have to use that strait to enter and exit the Persian Gulf. The Strait of Hormuz is about 30 miles wide, but, the shipping lane is only 2 miles wide. Carriers can't sail out of the shipping lane in the Strait of Hormuz, because, the carrier will get damaged if it has to sail outside the 2 mile wide shipping lane. I'm a Navy veteran, and I been through the Strait of Hormuz many times, to help keep the shipping lane open from Iran. Iran been doing this since 1979.

If Iran or anyone else wants to challenge this right - they might be surprised when half their Navy is sunk in a day if the US and it's allies need to send a message about keeping navigation safe anywhere on the planet. This is the transcript of a radio conversation of a US naval ship with Canadian authorities off the coast of Newfoundland in October, 1995. Radio conversation released by the Chief of Naval Operations 10-10-95.
    Americans: Please divert your course 15 degrees to the North to avoid a collision.
    Canadians: Recommend you divert YOUR course 15 degrees to the South to avoid a collision.
    Americans: This is the Captain of a US Navy ship. I say again, divert YOUR course.
    Canadians: No. I say again, you divert YOUR course.
    Americans: This is the aircraft carrier USS Lincoln, the second largest ship in the United States' Atlantic fleet. We are accompanied by three destroyers, three cruisers and numerous support vessels. I demand that YOU change your course 15 degrees north, that's one five degrees north, or countermeasures will be undertaken to ensure the safety of this ship.
    Canadians: This is a lighthouse. Your call.[2]

    The real risk is that some Iranian captain or sailor is provoked into becoming a hometown martyr, and causing an 'international incident,' as they used to say. The available firepower is very much one-sided.

    Iran has been doing this since before 2007 when they flew a iranian p3 500 feet over the USS Saipan then as we were flying in the h-60 escorting the saipan out of the straits, and when we were turning back towards the ship, an Iranian H-3 was hovering over the tower at 300 then took off, we were like........we didn't even debrief it we were shocked!!!!!
