Make sure you’ve got autolite 3116 copper-core plugs in it. The 386’s are resistor-type and hard on the mags/points etc.

Are the spark plug wires going to the correct cylinders. Top one on the magneto goes to the left cylinder.

My 37 b was giving me fits I thought it was the carburetor or the timing I could get it to run but just barely and then it ran poorly turned out it was a week magneto all right I lucked out my neighbor knew the guy in Chicago that owns Wico sent it back down for $145 he rebuilt the magneto and it runs great

thanks for your video. I have a 1949 John Deere b tractor. It seems to run great for about 30 minutes and then all of a sudden it starts to stall. If I quickly turn off the gas at the sediment bowl, it picks right back up again and runs good until it starts to run out of gas. I turn the gas back on and it runs good for a while and then starts to act sluggish almost like it's getting flooded and then eventually stalls unless I quickly turn off the gas. I cleaned the carburetor and the float is in great condition. Do you have any thoughts?

That’s a tough one. I can’t think of anything really.

Take the bowl off of the carburetor and check the float level and the float shutoff valve .

Did ya check the air filter oil level?

Hi I noticed you possibly did not check the throttle spindle for wear in its bushes any air leak at this point will weaken the mixture to an extent that it will not start trust me if they’re worn it’s a no go Ive fixed several this way by putting in new bushes . Plus try some KLG 50 spark plugs from the Green Spark Plug company they’re the best plugs Ive fitted to these tractors . Very informative video I’ve subscribed and liked , regards .

You need to check 3 other things that are a very common mistakes of why these old 2 cylinder JDs are not cranking. These old tractors are usually very easy to crank. First, the plugs must be non resistor plugs. Many times the parts places will tell and sell you a plug that may fit the plug hole. However, just because the plug cross references in their parts books does not mean it is a non-resistor plug that can be used on a magneto tractor. Resistor plugs should not be used with a magneto because they drop the voltage too much so you get a weak spark. You will get no spark when inside the cylinder under pressure. Resistor plugs are for vehicles that do not want inference to their AM radio.
Second, check that the wires also cannot be resistor wires used for a car or truck. They must be straight copper with no resistant in the plug wires. You can check the resistance in the plug wires with a multimeter. Same problem here as the resistor plugs the resistor wires drop the voltage so the spark cannot jump the gap when in the cylinder under pressure. And last check the Magento you need thousands of volts, you may have to rebuilt the magneto. Sometimes the coils in the magnetos are 70 to 100 years old and the internal insulation has broken down between windings. This three suggestion is all assuming you timed it right.

See if disconnect fuel supply an open valve see for flow .some times there stuff to plug the hole in tank . If more problem
Shut gas off take plug out
Roll it over air it out .put fuel on each side put plugs back in keep fuel off try start .that by pass every thing .if start open fuel....
    Good luck......
