How to help bluebirds when it's hot

When the temps hit triple digits, keep your birdbath filled and fresh and think about providing supplemental food for your nesting bluebirds.
CALCIUM: A female needs a good calcium source through the summer and ours have been enjoying crushed eggshells. Here, I've ground them down to a sand-like consistency and mixed them with mealworms. It seems to be working!
MEALWORMS: We get them at the local www.wbu.com/ (Wild Birds Unlimited). You can get 500 or 1,000. They come in a mesh back you can keep in your refrigerator. About $17 for 1,000 worms.
