My top 3 are: 1. Kind of Blue - Miles Davis 2. A Love Supreme - John Coltrane 3. Far East Suite - Duke Ellington I do need to explore more in Jazz with other artists.
Thanks for your list. Here is my personal list of top ten jazz albums: Money Jungle by Duke Ellington, Charles Mingus, Max Roach Mingus at Monterey by Charles Mingus The Shape of Jazz to Come by Ornette Coleman Kind of Blue by Miles Davis Jazz at Massey Hall by Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Charles Mingus, Bud Powell, Max Roach Ole by John Coltrane Live at the Village Vanguard by John Coltrane Time Out by Dave Bruebeck The Girl from Ipanema by Stan Getz and Antônio Carlos Jobim Reserved
Although I agree that some of these albums are great, and that top 10 is very limiting, maybe top 25 is better?...where is Coltrane's "A Love Supreme", "Impressions", Mingus's "Ah-Um", "The Clown", "Black Saint, Sinner Lady", Monk's "Genius of Modern Jazz Vol 1 & 2", "Brilliant Corners", "Monk's Dream", Duke's "A Drum is a Woman", "Black, Brown & Beige", "Jazz Party", Sonny Rollins "Tenor Madness", "Saxophone Collosus", anything by The Jazz Messengers, Art Blakey, Clifford Brown & Max Roach. Miles Davis's "Round About Midnight", "Miles Ahead", "Porgy & Bess", "Sketches in Spain", "Nefertiti" oh yeah and "Kinda", but at the top of the list is Louis and Ella's "Porgy & Bess"...
So many. I cannot list a top 10. Maybe..a top 25 or 50. But Miles, Brubeck, Peterson. I even throw in McCoy Tyner, Ella, and Coltrane. Lomg Live all Jazz. I'm sitting here now listening to an old Gotham City recording by Dexter Gordon. Great listings here. Thanks!
Count Bass-ee? Yeah, better check some of those names you're not familiar with. Tough to give much credence to someone who doesn't know some of the pretty common words and names in the genre. Interesting list but with some greats but...
I'm a new fan of Jazz music, so I'll be purchasing all these albums, to begin my Jazz collection. ❤ P.S. Which Jazz label is the best ? Blue Note ? Prestige ? Riverside ? Columbia ? Verve ? Chess ?
Columbia had a lot of the mainstream releases, but blue note had such a long string of releases from artists during the post-bop era: so we’d say blue note has the most impressive discography of Modern Jazz
Hard to believe the he mispronounced Ipanema putting the accent on the wrong syllable, but that did not bother me-but to pronounce Gillepsie with a soft G instead of a hard G-I couldn't believe my ears-just realized he called Count Basie Count Bassie-guy should do his homework-have almost no issue with his picks which of course are subjective but: hard to accept a top 10 list that does not include Kind of Blue
You need some work on your pronunciation. It's pronounced "The Girl From EE-pa-NEE-ma, not EE-panama. It's Count BAY-SEE, not BASS-ee. and it's Dizzy Gillespie, not Jillespie.
Please, please, please learn to pronounce words if you’re going to narrate videos. Ipanema is pronounced ee-pa-NÉE-ma. Count Basie is pronounced BAY-see, not BASS-eye.
List should be called "Top 10 jazz albums if you don't count Kind of Blue."
You are so right.
Count Baaaasie!!!!lol!
And “A Love Supreme”
My top 3 are:
1. Kind of Blue - Miles Davis
2. A Love Supreme - John Coltrane
3. Far East Suite - Duke Ellington
I do need to explore more in Jazz with other artists.

Hello! Thx for your work! But, please remember, that Gillespie is pronaunced by normal, single "G". Greetings from Poland 🍀🍀🍀

Thank yiu for this list and all the commentators
Thanks for watching!
I would have Freddie Hubbard's Red Clay in the best.
Different list for sure. Shall check out the ones I don’t have.
Pronunciation! Please brothah.
my 3 favorite jazz albums are all by Monk. What can I say?
Hard to believe the he mispronounced Ipanema putting the accent on the wrong syllable, but that did not bother me-but to pronounce Gillepsie with a soft G instead of a hard G-I couldn't believe my ears-just realized he called Count Basie Count Bassie-guy should do his homework-have almost no issue with his picks which of course are subjective but: hard to accept a top 10 list that does not include Kind of Blue
Benny Goodman at Carnagie hall is not ground print for swing.
Huh? No Kind of Blue? Also nothing from the last 50 years.
Frank Sinatra and Benny Goodman in a top ten jazz album list? No way. "Kind of Blue" isn't on the list?
But it's one's own opinion.
It's kinda more white jazz. 😁😁
@@andrewlim7751 hell, even for white jazz it sucks. No Bill Evans "Sunday at the Village Vanguard"? Or Dave Brubeck's "Take Five"?
@@nysaxman
Anyway, my top jazz pieces are from Japan, you may call it yellow jazz, btw yeah, leaving out Take Five is actually a sin. 😁

we know who they are ? He showed the albums
@@clemmtec9506 I'm talking about pronunciation.
"eye - PAN - e - mah"?? Count "BASS - ee"?? DUDE!!
"jill - ES - pee"?? 🙄
"zheel - BER - toe" ... ZHEEL!
By the way, where is Bird or Diz? … This is soooo wrong …
Please, do NOT use Robot voices.
Noted.
Where's Pharoah?
Don’t think Miles was in Weather Report. Not my top 10.
Eye-Panama……?? It’s pronounced Ip-a-neema…. Oh boy
Please, please, please learn to pronounce words if you’re going to narrate videos. Ipanema is pronounced ee-pa-NÉE-ma. Count Basie is pronounced BAY-see, not BASS-eye.
This is what you get from listening to a steady diet of rap & hip-hop... These young clowns have no sense of history...
