Fun Fact: The art of Oswald being a monster and holding several Disney characters inside of him was based on an early story concept where Oswald would've betrayed Mickey and merged with the Phantom Blot, but Junction Point decided against it due to Epic Mickey serving as Oswald's re-integration back into the Disney brand, and establishing the character in a villainous way wouldn't have went well.
There is some satisfaction in the knowledge that these were more "let's see what we can get away with" concepts rather than the original vision of the game.

I agree, Blotworx at concept level was horrifying. The idea of mutilated sentient creatures (Blotlings) fused into metal bodies, no doubt extremely painful to live is strong and compelling but it wasn't explored enough. Was probably the reason the Mad Doctor dubbed them "unpredictable."
I like to believe there's an alternate timeline that they used the original concept art. To be honest, this might have be an interesting horror like Disney game (Official if released)
"Dumb reason"? Bro this would have been a fantastic game if they left it like this, we could have had Undertale 5 years before if they left it like this. We would have seen a corrupted or a good version of Mickey if the player wanted to help or not. The way I see it, is that we were robbed of what potentially could have been one of the greatest horror games of the decade. Although the Epic Mickey we have now is also a good game with a great plot. Either way, I don't think it would have been dumb if they left it like this. I don’t think it would be well since the game wasn’t very technically impressive and had many glitches and I can’t imagine how many more there would be with such ambitious and daring ideas, as well as the fact that maybe the game would be too dark for people, darker doesn’t alway mean better, although I do love most of the ideas I do believe that they shouldn’t have gone with this

The idea of walt Disneys characters turning into forgotten and evil monsters is the best horror concept ive seen. I can't wait to look around this game again soon and find so many interesting small details and secrets
It makes sense learning that these weren’t expected to be approved by the higher ups. I was under the impression that these monsters were indicative of a horror direction the game was taking, and it really intrigued me since I figured Disney would’ve never pursued this project unless they knew they had a good idea on their hands. Well…I guess I’m satisfied knowing this wasn’t the “true” artistic vision the team had in mind and only served to gauge artistic limits, because it made me think we were denied the full experience that was originally envisioned by the creators.

I think it might've been these concepts that partly inspired Bendy and the ink Machine. I still can't help but picture a game this dark featuring a beloved character anyway. It's a theme that people wanna explore but we just don't get a lot of.
I mean, they hated Jack Sparrow before POTC was even introduced to audiences because they thought he was gay, and you know how homophobic Disney is. Fast forward to the box office records and critical acclaim by fans, they changed their tune and now they embrace him as a beloved character. That's also not to mention that they allowed Tim Burton to produce The Nightmare Before Christmas despite its dark aesthetic and vibes. So yeah, it's possible that in an alternate timeline, maybe the game would've been allowed this darkness that we see on our screen right now. Sadly, this is not that timeline..

If the third game wouldn't embrace this more and take more inspiration from this original concept art or at the very least match the first game's tone, then I wouldn't have wanted it anyway.

Imagine Epic Mickey with some of this concepts. Where world become darker place, where heroes begin to lose hope, where black creatures dying, but nightmares take their place. For example, i like 0:32 art - it looks like one of nightmares took Mickey form, or even worse - Mickey turned evil himself. This game could have a scale of hope or adequacy depending on our actions, decisions to "Save or Destroy" and some actions in the game. And if we had failed the main characters, Mickey himself would have become one of these monsters that Oswald had to stop or die trying to do it. We won't see this game, but it would be very cool, very Epic.
I absolutely love Epic Mickey, hell I still revisit every now and then. I loved the idea of a dark Mickey Mouse game (Dark Souls Mickey if you will), and what we got was great. However, looking at these images makes me look at Epic Mickey differently. I still love the game nothing will change my mind on that, but now I can't unsee the potential it could have had. It's like seeing a glimpse of the dystopian world that Wasteland could have been, and the finished product is a shell of that vision.
From both 0:43 and 0:46 it looks to me, like Oswald was supposed to be the main final bad guy or gets corrupted by the bot As it gains power from Oswald’s hidden hatred and anger. But I’m pretty sure they had to not put that there because it wouldn’t fit in through the story of the game
It's incredibly cool to find out that one of the concept artists is now working on Metroid Prime 4. So at least now he can draw as many dark concepts as he wants that could actually represent the final game.

What I would have done with the sequel is expand on the Oswald blot idea. Where while he is stick inside the blot. A little parasite from the blot gets inside of him. And over the course of the second game. We see him become more rabid. Until he becomes the artwork that we see for the concept. And I would crank up the darkness for the game. And actually FIX THE GAMEPLAY CONTROLS.

From both 0:43 and 0:46 it looks to me, like Oswald was supposed to be the main final bad guy or gets corrupted by the bot As it gains power from Oswald’s hidden hatred and anger. But I’m pretty sure they had to not put that there because it wouldn’t fit in through the story of the game
He was planned to be a villain at one point, but they scrapped the idea because they wanted Ozwald to be loved again.

It's incredibly cool to find out that one of the concept artists is now working on Metroid Prime 4. So at least now he can draw as many dark concepts as he wants that could actually represent the final game.
Wish Disney wouldn’t have been so sensitive and we could’ve gotten a truly dark and edgier take on Mickey

Epic Mickey 2 is where they water it down to feel more "kid friendly and light-hearted" what a disappointing squeal.
What I would have done with the sequel is expand on the Oswald blot idea. Where while he is stick inside the blot. A little parasite from the blot gets inside of him. And over the course of the second game. We see him become more rabid. Until he becomes the artwork that we see for the concept. And I would crank up the darkness for the game. And actually FIX THE GAMEPLAY CONTROLS.
