I've had a older 2015 pro angler 12 with original mirage drive for just over 7yrs. Then I upgraded to PA12 360 last summer so I'm getting close to having mine for a year. I haven't had any issues with mine. I loved both my pro anglers I take mine out 2-3 time's a week so it gets used heavily
Nice! It was definitely one of my favorite kayaks! I actually bought a new pa12 a few weeks before they announced the 360 😂 sold it almost immediately for the 360
I love my PA12 180 drive. The 360 is nice but seems a little to gimmicky for me to justify the cost of upgrading. Plus all the issues that happened with early models.
Hard to go wrong with the 180. Thankfully I’ve had very few problems with the 360 drive and for the type of fishing I like to do being close to structure, docks, and trees the 360 makes a world of difference.
Only issue I had was with the original 360 drive. The small bearings fell out and I got a new updated drive with the bigger bearings under warranty. I never had any cracking or steering system problems.
@@caleb4015 there were some that had cracking issues but I replaced this pa12 360 with the exact same one only it was a 2023. I never had any problems with it either. I just sold it for my 2024 pa14 360xr which has been fantastic also
What kinda of post salt water care do/did you do? Hose down and that’s that? Or anything more to share on care of boat? I’m gonna be frying pan 14 very soon and will see 100% inshore salt water use a lot
Yea I just wash with fresh water rinse after each trip when I get home real quick. I also use 303 uv protectant on all the plastic. Nothing crazy. They are pretty durable but just a little preventative maintenance can go a long way.
I do still feel the same way! I now have a 2022 pa12 360 that I’ve fished out of a ton this year. Both my kayaks have been very reliable and have had no problems besides my initial drive replacement. If you keep it all adjusted properly it really helps keep it working properly. Very weird you’ve gone through 2 already. I work at a dealer and we have had quite a few warranty claims on early ones but anything past 2022 we have only seen a couple bad ones.
@SteegeFish yea it's very unfortunate, both my hauls broke where the drive clips un under that bolt and I'm my 3rd drive right now, this one has been good so far. My fear is, what is going to happen when my warranty runs out?
I hope your 3rd boat is solid but yea once that 3 years is over replacement is pretty much up to you but if it’s a crack they may offer a hull at cost if it’s deemed to be a defect. We do a lot of repairs at our dealer and have some extensive knowledge of replacing everything 360 related and plastic welding. It’s almost like anything it will probably break someday if you use it enough. Like when my truck was 1,000 miles out of warranty is when things started to break. It’s just life it seems. Still love my 360 even if it breaks in the future it’s worth the trouble to have that maneuverability in my option. Reliability is a pretty big deal though and I know they are constantly trying to improve them.
Thanks for the video. With that price, the kayak should be way better with no problems what so ever in next ten years. Not my boat, I prefer PA 180 better....many people have leakage problems, broken 360 drives and cracked hulls in PA 360s. I had no such problems with my previous kayaks , and the oldest one is over 10 years old... (Jackson Cuda)....maybe in couple of years also 360 have some quality...now it seems to be quite crappy boat, too many unsolved issues. Well its good to sell it before drive is broken again...
Thanks for watching. Many resolved issues actually. I work at a Hobie dealer and they have made many improvements over the first boats that came out like mine. Buying anything now days and expecting it to be bullet proof is pretty unrealistic unfortunately. The saying they don’t build them like they used to seems to ring true to many products now days in my experience. The pa with a 180 is a solid kayak.
@@SteegeFish Glad to hear that Hobie is taken the problems seriously. Otherwise the PA 360 kayak is amazing with nothing similar on the market! Of course it depends on you need swhether you are willing the pay the price or not. But normal kayaks (hulls) are solid as hell, they don't break down easily. The more moving parts, the more problems. Despite of this fact, I love my PA 180!
@@martins.7175 as much a I want one everyone I talked to says they aren’t going to do it but I hope they are just saying that because they are re working on it 😆
In my opinion the pa12 is just not my favorite offshore. Don’t get me wrong though I’ve taken quite a few of them out there and still caught a lot of fish. It’s a short fat boat that when you get headwind, big waves, and current you really are not getting much speed at all. I prefer the 14 offshore if I’m taking a pro angler. Also the 14 balances better one the beach cart when placed in the middle. You can definitely be successful with a 12 but I prefer the outback or the pa14 when I’m out there
@@SteegeFish Thanks for the info! I'm currently in a Bonafide and strictly fish the flats around here. Looking to upgrade to either the Outback or PA 14. Any tips/advice?

Good review! I've been thinking about getting a Hobie Pro Angler, love the seat and layout.
Thank you! They are definitely fish catching machines
Hello 🙋♂️
I always follow your great videos .
How many miles I can go from shore in hobie pro angler 12 in good weather conditions.

I bought the same boat but didn't know about the drive having small bearings. Should I contact Hobie about this.
If you are experiencing problems with the drive yes you can file a warranty claim with your closest dealer.
