- Here is a real mom’s review of the Elvie Stride Wireless Breast Pump. I am currently exclusively pumping to feed my 10-week old daughter. I am going to put the brand new Elvie Stride to a real-life test and share all of the results with you!
The new Elvie pump is now one of the most affordable wireless breast pumps on the market and on paper, it looks like it will outperform many more expensive options. On top of that, this pump is covered by many insurance companies making it a no-brainer. Let’s see if it lives up to the hype!

Whether it’s for travel, going in to work, or chasing a child, many of us don’t have time to be tied to a wall outlet while pumping. If you are looking to ditch the wires, the Elvie Stride might be for you!
I am also going to compare the new Elvie Stride to the Original Elvie Wireless breast pump to see how it stacks up. I will test the output, noise, and comfort of both units.

Other Must-Have Items for Breastfeeding & Exclusively Pumping Mothers
🤰Best Elvie Pumping Bra - amzn.to/3hFk09F I have tried a TON, for me super tight ones work. If I am in a pinch a sports bra will work.
🍼 Best Bottle Drying Rack - amzn.to/3nN58tQ It's super cheap and compact. I have one in my suitcase for travel, two in my kitchen, and one at my cabin.
🤱🏻Nipple Cream - goto.target.com/KezgZ7 Don't forget to put this on every time! I have used all different brands and they all have been fine. I just most recently bought the one linked there and really liked it.
👶🏻 LaVie warming Lactation Massager - amzn.to/3kmpx77This thing warm & massages which helps improve milk flow and make pumping faster. It REALLY helps with clogged ducts and engorgement, I am speaking from painful experience. I have two of these, but you can buy just one and switch sides.
🧸Breast pads - goto.target.com/DV3Bk5 Again any brand will work, I typically get this cheap brand from Target and it does the job. NOTE I am not a big leaker.
🤰Hot & Cold therapy packs - amzn.to/3CoZJNC For under $10 these are great because they can be throw in the freezer for cool relief and put in the microwave to warm up your breasts. These really helped me when my milk first came in.
🥛Clogged Duct Relief - amzn.to/39gH3Du Legendairy Milk sunflower lecithin helped me and several friends loosen clogged ducts and then help prevent them. I took this daily after my first clogged duct.
💊Help increase milk production - amzn.to/39gH3Du If you are struggling with your supply I suggest trying Legendairy Milk Liquid Gold.
🤱🏻Breast milk storage bags - amzn.to/3CodKv3 I honestly haven't had an issue with any other brands I've used. I like the price point of the Dr. Browns bags so I buy them the most.
👶🏻Haaka - amzn.to/3CodKv3 Yes you really need one or two (I have two). Yes, they really work. When you get out of a hot shower and are leaking, you can just throw this on to catch the milk.
🍼Cheap Bottle Warmer - amzn.to/3hI5YV8 I have tried several, this cheap one is my favorite. The Dr. Browns bottle warmer was terrible...Once you go to 100% formula I cannot recommend the Baby Breeza amzn.to/3hI5YV8 enough, we love this thing. Now with baby number two, we have two of them, one in the kitchen and one in our bedroom.
❤️ Sterilizer Bags - amzn.to/3tNydGF You'll want this to sterilize new bottles, parts, pacifiers, etc. I also use them when traveling. There are cheap and you can use each bag twenty times.

Thank you! I love the tips and the way you showed us exactly what to do! This is very educational, pure facts very to the point! I love this so much thank you so much
So excited to finally see a review on this pump! I just received this in the mail and I took a chance since there were very little reviews. I planned to get the Spectra s2, but after seeing a hands free pump I decided to get it since I’m a second time mom and loved the idea of being able to do things while I pump.
How are you like the Elvie Stride so far? I have the S2 too but being hands-free is KEY when having a toddler too.
@@GettingStamped what’s the difference for your output on the spectra and the Elvie stride?
I appreciate this video!! The stride is $75 with insurance vs $325 with original Elvie. Definitely getting the stride. Thanks for the links in the description ❤️
Good to hear your insurance covers a decent portion. It is so nice there is now an affordable insurance option for a wearable breast pump now.
Thanks for this thorough review! 🙌🏼
THANK YOU!! The best Elvie Stride full explanation available right now. Your video is better than the company’s! Thank you again
I love to hear that!
If I weren’t such a massive oversupplier I would absolutely get this pump. It would be so convenient to use when I don’t have time or space to use my Spectra.
Thank you for making this video, it was very informative for a 2nd time mom with a Spectra deciding whether or no to spend the money on a new pump!
This is exactly what I was hoping to accomplish. If you don't have a hands free pump already, it is worth the money.
Thank you! Your review helped me purchase tonight. Looking forward to checking out your other recommendations above. I'm new to pumping and had literally no idea what to purchase and you were so thorough and sincere.
Such a comprehensive comparison video. Still leaning toward the Original Elvie because it looks a little easier to set down after pumping, and also thinking about the best for traveling. Thank you!
We love to hear that. The original Elvie pump is def easier to set down after pumping, and has fewer parts to travel with. If those are key for you then go with the Elive pump.
Thank you so much! I had a horrible pumping experience with my first, so I ultimately switched to formula. I also had production issues and my LCs were never able to figure out why. Wearable pumps were just beginning to hit the market (2018), so insurances pretty much laughed at covering them. I was pretty much glued to one spot to pump and it was awful. My baby was in the nicu as well for 45 days, so it was just a conglomeration of things. I’m so excited this time around to have wearable pumps as an option. Even if we wind up in the nicu again this time, I can now hold my baby without bulky pump parts and bottles in the way, which should really help my milk get flowing. Thank you so much for reviewing these!! I think I’m sold on the Stride!
I hope the stride works out for you the second time around. I hope you don't end up in the NICU again. It is so nice to pump and hold your baby at the same time.
Very informative. Thanks for the review. I just ordered mine 🎊
Thank you! Just received mine and was super intimidated. This is so helpful.
Glad I could help introduce you to the Elvie Stride pump and, hopefully, a successful pumping journey.
I wanted to share, I just read you can use the Nanobebe bags in the regular Elvie pump 🤩🤯 might save some mamas time. This is a great option for me at work, since I can’t sterilize parts/bottles until I get home.
Thanks for the review! If the stride and the original both had the same cost through insurance, which would you pick?
Thank you so much for this very helpful video. My sister in law gave me hers but without the charger so I ordered one. I'm new to pumping/breastfeeding and due to have my baby girl in about 10 days. I'm trying to learn as much as I can. I sterilized all the parts today and I need to figure out if the size is right on my flanges. So much to learn but your video was very helpful.
Great review and video, so helpful that you have a full comparison and have experience with others. Thank you
I love to hear that!
With my insurance, I’ll only have to pay $15 for the Stride. This review was great and convinced me to go for it!
That is a great deal! Glad our Elvie Stride review helped you. Happy pumping.
@@GettingStamped how did u pay only $15? with cigna i need to pay $75
You have some bomb insurance! Will have to pay $54 with ours
@@vivianataylor9202 I’m thankful. It’s through my husband’s job. $54 is not bad at all!

Glad my video help you decide which breast pump to purchase!
This video was incredibly helpful for me as a first time mom and I appreciate the links and descriptions you have here for the other items. Thank you!
Glad we could help!
Thank you so much for this great review! I just ordered my Stride through insurance and I am so excited to use it.
That is great to hear! Did your insurance cover it at 100%?
What insurance do you have? I’m hoping mine can be covered as well
I have BlueCross Blue Shield. They covered some of it. I had to pay $70. But I figured that was worth it to get this brand.
@@mds232s where did you order it from?
I have kaiser core WA and it covered 100% of the elvie stride cost. Hope this can help someone!
So helpful!! Thank you!!
Very helpful video! Thank you.
One question I have is how often would you say you would need to replace parts?
It's my understanding from other videos about these types of pumps is that you can put the parts in the fridge between sessions, then wash them once at the end of the day. That cuts down a lot on the washing throughout the day.
Thanks for the info! I'm currently pregnant with baby #2, and am planning on exclusively pumping. It looks like Tricare (which I have) fully covers and Elvie Stride and partially covers the Elvie, so I'm going back and forth between those 2.
I don't have much experience pumping, since we switched to formula pretty early on with my oldest, so I've been doing a LOT of research, and hopefully it will work out! Or hopefully I can pump a decent amount, and then just supplement as needed.
I gave birth 2 months ago. I also have Tricare and I went to a Medical supply store and they only covered the basic Medela pump in style pump or the Ameda Mya. How did you find out they covered for this pump?
My insurance Emblem Health GHI doesn’t cover the original Elvie only the Stride. I’m okay with that because it describes it as a hospital grade suction. Also I like the shape of the Stride better. You can see them on display at the Target store! I got a $50 copay. First time mommy I’m planning to breastfeed the first few weeks and just need a pump for back up and freedom to tend to my babygirl when she arrives! Thank you for this helpful demonstration!
Glad our demo helped. A $50 copay is a pretty good deal.
Excellent review thank you!
Glad I could help!
I would love to hear your comparison with the spectra pumps.
Got my Elvie stride today!
How is the Elvie stride working for you? I am currently deciding my options.
Hi!! Thank you for your review! Very helpful !! I got my elvie stride for 75 with BCBS , my due date is very close , I already have a toddler so as you said I'm excited to be able to do things while pumping since with my first one used Spectra s2 and had to be sitting and holding the flinges. Definitely will recommend if it works for me!
Did u go thought a website to get your pump or with your Dr? I hav BCBS but have seen it that cheap yet.
I’m curious as well because I have BCBS and have met my deductible but all the websites I’ve seen the lowest was like $189
Thank you so much for sharing it! When you compared it to Spectra S2, how do you like it??
Great review
Thanks, glad I could help!
I got it 100% covered after searching and searching different sites. One site did upgrade but was sold out and said elvie is having supply material issues so they don’t know when they will get more. So happy mines it’s way for free with free shipping! 🤗
What site did you use!?
@@crachellaka not sure if you still need this but Elvia actually has links to all the providers who offer their pump. You can go through and insert your insurance info there.
I got this thru insurance. My last baby, I used the Medela Freestyle flex and it didn’t work great for us. So I’m hoping this one is better.
Thank you for this! Can you pump on one side?
Oh my goodness, I really want a wireless baby 2 on the way- don't know which one to get and bonus if it's insurance covered
Thank you!
I’m 1 week pp and got the Stride this time around. I LOVE IT! Like you said it’s medical grade but actually rather gentle and I have already have breastfed exclusively as well as pumped over 50oz for my stash. The only downfall is cleaning.
Congrats mama! Yeah, the cleaning is a bummer, buy extra parts when they are in stock!
You can do the fridge hack for the cleaning though! Just throw the Elvie (without the tubes and motor)into the fridge after emptying it in a bottle, and reuse it again for next session. This way yo have to clean it on the night, but not during the day.
Thank you for this review! It was so helpful. I have the original from 2020 with my 1st son but when I went to use it with my newborn this year one of them was not working. Gonna go for the stride ($75 with ins). And my husband is going to try to troubleshoot my OG.
Tricare is military insurance. I don’t have it personally, but from working in a medical office very near a base, I’m not surprised that “upgraded” (whatever you wanna call it) pumps could very well be covered 100% 😅
That is great to know! Thanks for the comment.
My insurance covers the stride about 50% and with a toddler at home I’m thinking I’ll definitely need a mobile pumping option. Is it possible to pump just 1 breast at a time on the stride, or do you have to pump both together?
On the stride, does it turn off/stop once it is at the 5oz mark?
Or do you have to keep checking yourself
Do you think the stride will work for exclusive pumping if this is my only pump? I'm currently pregnant with baby #4, but I formula fed the first 3. Hands free is going to be a must so I can keep up with my older kids
Hi there! I'm pregnant with my second and mostly breastfed my first with the occasional pumping. I tried my friends original elvie and could not for the life of me get it to suction properly, get a let down, and it always leaked, wanted to love it but just couldn't figure it out after weeks of trying. Your video mentions the stride has less of a learning curve, did you have any issue with getting a good suction on the stride? thanks!
So helpful
Great review! Have you tried the new Medela Hands Free breast pump? Wanted to know your thoughts. Thanks!
Thanks! No, I have not tried the Medela Hands Free breast pump. I have the Elvie Pump, Elvie Stride, Willow 3.0, and the Willow Go breast pump.
For anyone wanting the elvie at all you can buy them with hsa and fsa also
Where did you order extra parts for the stride from?
I don't see any available on their website.
heyy love the info. thank u! but just an fyi. the milk bags linked arent milk bags you have the haaka linked twice ha
This is awesome! How do I get ur links ubhave mentioned
I'm so happy this video popped up on my feed to watch! I have a motif luna and though it is an Okay pump, I canNOT stand the tube-flanges- pump that is hanging off my body. I can't hold my baby when I am hooked up, can barely cook/dishes or do any other chores. it makes me never want to pump and my supply dips when I don't pump. It is a constant battle. I was very very heavily considering the willow pump, but the price is very hard to swallow. I am very happy to see this PRICE POINT! The tube looks way more manageable since it can be tucked away in your shirt. I'm sure it may still be a pain to thread the tube into clothing but still 100x better than a regular styled pump.
Good we popped up! Yeah, I too hate the tubes hanging and not being able to do ANYTHING bc you're attached to the wall! The price point of the Elvie Stride makes it sooo much more attainable for people. Yeah, the tube is there and you have to mess with it but I am sure after a few uses you'll figure out a method that works for you. It's not nearly as bad as I thought. So far so good!
Look into the legendairy milk collection cups!
what do you recommend for storage? is there an easy way to store extra milk from the elvie stride?
Hi!! Ok first time mom here… with a baby who won’t latch…. Soo I am deciding if I need both the spectra 2 and a wearable pump? Do you still use both? I am worried about milk production since I have heard wearables don’t maintain as well?
This for this video! I have Tricare so the stride is free and elvie original is not much more. This video was very helpful!
That is great to hear! How much more was the Elvie pump with Tricare if you don't mind me asking? Happy pumping!
@@GettingStamped I have Tricare and was quoted $186 for the Original Elvie and $0 for the Stride
Omg I have Tricare too and they still wanted $325 for the original Elvie and the Willow and $75 for Elvie Stride. I went through Aeroflow how did you get such a low price?
What did you use to get quotes on the different breast pumps? I have tricare and I’m a new mom expecting in April
This is so nice compared to traditional style pumps
So my original due date was February 23, but due to complications baby is likely going to be here about a month early. Would it be okay to put the new date as my due date or would that conflict at all? First time mom, sorry if this is an obvious question. 😖 Thank anyone for any input. ❤
Would you recommend this for a first time mom? I’ve heard it takes time for your milk to establish so would this help or would a different pump be better to start off with?
I used the original Elvie with my first and with my second I used the original and now the stride too. Honestly, you have to establish your milk supply no matter what and the pump to me wouldn't matter. I used the OG and my Spectra S2 (both depending on what parts were clean) with my first. It's all just a learning curve and you may pump way more or less than you expect. Good luck, you got this mama!
Hi. Great video. I was wondering if you or anyone here could provide some feedback. Mainly I want to know what would be better
Medela new swing maxi or elvie stride??
I know someone who pumps into the legendairy milk cup, pours out milk, then without washing puts into dedicated bag into the refrigerator. She doesn't wash in between use, only at end of day. Would u say that you can do the same with the elvie cups too?
I'm going back to work soon and would love to minimize washing if I can.
Does either the original version or the stride turn off if the milk level fills the reservoir?
Hi, where did you find replacement parts for the elvie stride besides the 21mm or 28 mm flanges?
Right now you can only purchase them here (if they are in stock) www.elvie.com/en-us/shop/elvie-stride-accessories
Are you able to buy the stride out of pocket or are you required to go through insurance? I’m not seeing an option to purchase it on their website
Yes, you can buy the stride out of pocket. That is what I did because I already got my free pump with this pregnancy. Just click purchase without insurance.
Is it normal not to feel like it's pumping anything? I barely feel anything. I guess that could be good. I'm still new to this pumping business.
Have u tried the mom cozy s 12 i usually get 2 pumps insurance covers Elvie stride and the spectra they said the stride isn’t hospital grade wat are ur thoughts Elvie stride or spectra
Are you able to use the stride plugged in if it’s out of battery? It would be nice if I could buy this as my one and only pump but am not sure if I should also get a Spectra.
That’s exactly what I’m thinking! My spectra got me through my first pregnancy but I want something for work
Not sure, I will have to look. The battery charges rather quick (well quick enough to get one pump). It lasts me all day on one charge with 15 min pump sessions.
Great video! Debating between the spectra s1 and the stride. I’m a first time mom what would you recommend me to try out 1st?
I personally love the freedom of the stride...I would start there.
Stride. I came across this looking to upgrade my freemie.
Freedom is where it is at
@@goastgoast4931 how do you like freemie?
@@minhdieu114 I'd like to get 1st I like how I can have more control over I'm more control over how long the pump is like if it's short and fast and then longer Poles et cetera but I have the original and I don't feel the cups lasted long. I'm now 9 months in and I've also had the briba and the Willow 3. The 3 point always my favorite
Thank you for posting this!!!
What pump are you currently using?
How hard is it to see if your nipple is aligned in the breast shield? It is impossible to see on the original elvie at least for me. Thank you for your review!
It's super easy on the Elvie Stride and you can actually see it. You just have to open the spout and you can see the two lines and if your nipple is aligned correctly.
I need your help, could you tell me if the breast shield of elvie pump can work on elvie stride ? The reason is that my size is 21mm and the only available flanges are for elvie pump so can I buy it and install it on elvie stride?
I'm just wondering what kind of bras you use with this pump?
I’m a about a small 36 A to 32 B what size would I need?
Any idea where to get the diaphragms i couldn't find it in amazon or Elvie website 🤔
How do we clean the tubes if the milk goes into them by mistake?
Would you recommend the spectra s1 plus pump in addition to the elvie stride or do you feel that the elvie stride can be my only breast pump?
That’s a tough one. Will your insurance cover the Elvie stride? I got both my spectra pumps though insurance so they were free to me and I paid for the Elvie stride. It’s nice to have another pump in case your stride is dead.
Getting Stamped Good point. I ordered the Elvie Stride through insurance and would buy the Spectra out of pocket.
your video is awesome. I bought it just because of this. I tried to pump using it last night and for some reason it felt like it was extracting but when I checked after 15 mins only a drop came out. Could I have maybe put the parts together wrong? what do you think would cause that? has that ever happened to you? thank you! Mum of 32 week premie baby
Did you ever get this to work? I'm 5 weeks post partum and have only used the stride 3 times and it barely gets out any milk. I'm wondering if it's because I have flange inserts inside because my nip size is 17mm
@@nievesnadia3 i used it but since my baby was in NICU I also used the industrial pump that they had, which seriously helped my supply. These are convenient but def not for use until supply has been really established, in my opinion. I could be totally wrong and every body is different. I tried all sizes and never got nearly as much out as I did when using the old school machines. Congrats on your baby, mama
Is it necessary to buy extra parts? I would have to pay $97 with insurance for the stride. It can definitely add up buying extra parts.
I like the freedom of it a lot. I’m expecting twins so the more I can do around the house without being attached to a wall or carrying something with me would be handy.
I am really hoping I can pump/breastfeed to cut down the cost.
Wondering the same, as mine is the same cost thru insurance. Also pregnant with twins!
Only a couple days in on using this pump (Elvie Stride), already having issues w/ suction due to trouble w/ lack of suction or other part not staying in place.. also making sure everything is dry after cleaning so I'm not sure what else to do to avoid these issues. I'm really hoping to figure it out because when it works it works great!
Oh no! Are you sure everything is dry 100% Are you sized right? What bra are you wearing? For me, I had to wear the Kindred Bravely Sublime tighter sports bra.
Do you recommend the elvie stride over the spectra S1? If you had to choose only one pump?
Not sure if this will help. Have not had my baby yet but I am due in May and have been doing a lot of research. The overall consensus says you should not rely on any wearable pump as your main device if you plan on pumping exclusively. I guess the wearables don’t have enough capacity to fully “empty” you. However, I’m unclear on if this would apply to moms who plan to breast feed and pump occasionally (at work etc…). Personally I decided to buy the Elvie through my insurance because I think a wearable will be nice when I go back to work and want to pump on the go. Don’t know if I will be able to breastfeed but that’s my hope, if not and I need to pump exclusively I figured I can always purchase the spectra s1 later as that seems to be the most popular pump and the price is reasonable.
Is the elvie stride like the spectra s2
My elvie stride vibrates quite loudly. Is that normal??
Where is the link for small flange inserts that will work for stride?
I have heard this work with the Elvie Stride amzn.to/2VSag4l
Are you still liking this?
Put your pumping parts in a ziplock bag in the fridge! You can wash every other day.
I never did the fridge hack, but many moms do. I just had a MILLION spare parts lol.
Does the Elvie stride have the real time milk volume monitoring on the app like the original Elvie?
No
As of now it does not.
If I wore this while at work in a patients room do you think they could hear it ?
If there is silence yes for sure, and I would guess they might hear something but probably wouldn't ask what it is.
where is the link for the amazon breast shield inserts for 17mm?
I have been told from those that use 17mm inserts that these will work amzn.to/3mvErrp
I do recommend KNIX nursing bra or just their bras and then the leakproof breast pads to insert in any bra, they are so comfortable and good for accidents
Omg I wish I could pump that much 😫 Baby is 3 weeks and was a tad premature. He wouldn't latch so we had to start him off of formula and pumping. He only latches in mornings now. I've been increasing pumping but still only get an oz max every 2 hrs. One time I got almost 2oz but that was because I had to skip a few sessions. I use the Madela Freestyle Flex
My first was born at 36+3 and didn't latch, that is why I started exclusively pumping. PUMP PUMP PUMP, it will get better! Try drinking Body Armour drinks too. Are you taking any supplements? Have you tried a different pump?
My son wouldn’t latch either. My nurse recommended a nipple shield and it worked like charm until he got the hang of it
Is this good for a mom who is a DD? I feel like my breasts will probably be too large for this.
Do you think it’s worth it to buy the Elvie Stride if I already have the Original Elvie?
There really isn't a need, I wouldn't.
What is the website you recommend to go through with insurance?
I used Aeroflow
I barely feel anything on it even with it being on ten. It’s brand new and I express more on the weird ones that dangle. So am I doing something wrong?
For example I get 120 ml on my other pump and on Elvie I get maybe 55ml
How does the Elvie stride compare to the Willow pump?
Sorry I don't own the Willow and haven't used it so I can't truthfully comment.
Anyone knows why the cap won’t clicked?
If price was not a concern, which would you prefer.. the elvie or elvie stride?
I’m curious too! I’m between both pumps currently. Would love your input
Stride for sure.
Do you find lining up the nipple to the suction hole difficult? I have the momcozy and I always have difficulty making sure I'm directly center to avoid nipple pain which is why I don't gravitate to it but I'd love to be able to pick up my daughter while I'm pumping and while my spectra does an amazing job at pulling my milk I just can't properly hold her without worrying about spilling my milk. Thanks for your help!
I personally never have issues lining up my nipple. I have never used the momcozy breast pump, so I can't comment on comparing it to that. Having the freedom to pump and hold your child is amazing, so much more freedom.
Which is better the Elvie or babybudha? I need a miracle to save my BF journey, please help me !
I can’t be hooked to the Medela that I have because I have another 2 kids to look after ! Please help me ! Which should I get ? To be completely hands free and functional and gets the best suction ?
I personally have never used the Baby Budha but I do have a friend that has it and she says the suction will suck your nipples off lol. I also have/use the S2/Spectra Gold/Elvie Pump and now the Elvie Stride. I have 2 under 2 so I hear you on not being stuck to the wall!
@@GettingStamped so which one is your best option ??? 🙏🏻🙏🏻
@@karlamaria8208 that's a tough decision, price better w Stride and I think suction is better BUT the OG is easier bc no wires. Also right now its impossible to get spare parts for the Stride (I know that will change soon). I am still using them both, just varies on which one I have clean parts for lol.
@@GettingStamped i forgot to thankyou!!!!
The baby Buddha is very strong, too strong. I used it for a month and couldn’t handle it anymore, the pull is too rough. I have the Elvie ogs, stride and had the baby Buddha. My favorites are the OG because they are so gentle but the stride you can move around more freely and not have to worry about leaking, and the tubes don’t get in the way like other pumps. The stride suction is more like the spectra, so very different from the ogs
Hello, is anyone selling one of these pumps? My insurance doesn’t cover any pumps. Thank you so much
Where did you find a coupon code?
I bought it the first day it was released (like 7am lol) and they had a code. I use honey www.joinhoney.com/ref/iq8hx2e to find promo codes all the time on tons of sites.
Do you have a flange insert in your elvie stride for your specific nipple size? Im wondering if barely any milk comes out for me becqhse i have a flamge insert. My nips are 17mm so the 24mm size of the pump is too big
