Truk Lagoon Vlog November 2017 - Scuba girl goes TEC

- In November 2017 we made the lengthy trip to Truk Lagoon in Micronesia to dive the shipwrecks that were sunk during Operation Hailstorm. As the only female amongst a rowdy bunch of 16 Brits, I decided to try my hand at vlogging, filming the trip from beginning to end. A truly stunning setting full of palm trees, crystal clear waters and the occasional tropical shower - Micronesia really stole our hearts.
I must credit my other half Richard for letting me use some of his amazing underwater footage.
Apologies for the jumpy camera and occasional out of focus close-ups - this is all new to me, will be better next time! :)
Hope you enjoy!
I am so happy to see this video 😢 you don’t even know how much I miss chuuk so much . When I was in my senior year I used to work on the very small ship called Truck master and then after I graduated in 2018 I moved from there to the US until now 2022
Thank you so much for the video! I stayed at the Blue Lagoon for 12 days in April 2016, and have had a return trip in mind ever since, wanting to do the live aboard this time. So your video was very informative, what a beautiful boat. Greetings, from California.
mokpot I’m so glad you liked the video and found it useful, I was quite nervous about doing it but loved documenting our trip. We had the most amazing time there and were blown away by the wrecks! The Odyssey is a wonderful boat, couldn’t have asked for better service, food and staff 👍🏼 Feel free to share 😁
Been there twice. i would leave tomorrow. Incredible diving and local people are great.
Definitely - we'd go back in a heartbeat!

My mom is a chef and my brother he is a dive guide. They work on that boat odyssey. And I just saw my brother in this video. And thank you for choosing odyssey and chuuk for your dive place. It was really nice.😍
Gedana Dominick Aisek that is soooo amazing!!!! Who is your brother!?!?! Both the Odyssey and Chuuk provided the most beautiful diving experience - we can’t wait to return!! 🤿💙
@@BlackMantaPhotography his name is Dane aisek. And yeah feel free to come back and visit. Too bad there is no tourist these days cuz of this covid19 pandemic.

crazy691ify awwwww!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Thats such a lovely comment!!! Thank you!!!
@@BlackMantaPhotography thanks for visiting chuuk!! Come again
@@crazy691ify we will DEFINITELY be back!!!
Thank you for putting up. I was sent your channel from someone who dived with you guys when in Truk.
We meant to be heading there in 2021 and was wondering if you would recommend liveaboard or resort. What company would you recommend.
Love the video team from fellow British diver in Bermuda!
Blue Horizon Diving ah how lovely! I wonder who that person was? Was a great group we had actually!
I’d highly recommend the Odyssey liveaboard. There are only a couple that operate in Truk, but the Odyssey are a class about the rest. Outstanding facilities, full TEC set up, even has a lift into the water which makes things so easy!
High class food and snacks and a full inclusive international bar.
I’d definitely go liveaboard over land based - again, there are a few resorts but they don’t cover all the dive sites/wrecks due to location and distance. It’s the Odyssey that features in this video.
We had a few nights in the Blue Lagoon resorts either side of the liveaboard - rooms and food was quite basic, so if you want a great experience I’d only use them as a stop gap to acclimatise before heading out on the boat.
Hope life is treating you well in Bermuda...!?
@@BlackMantaPhotography It was a UA-cam channel called The Squid. They were uploading their Truk Lagoon footage other day. Was very helpful. They were only staying and diving from Blue Lagoon Resort but remember all of you and recommend you all for liveaboard advise lol.
Perfect and your video was so informative and the diver lift is a massive plus. The boat looked great setup overall and perfect for group of divers. Our group heading out is half tec and the other half are rec. Does the boat cater to both on same trip?
Can't complain being in Bermuda. It was work that brought me over here from rainy Glasgow almost 4 years ago now lol.
@@BlueHorizonDiving ah fantastic - networking at it's best!!
Yes - the Odyssey caters to all groups. Full gas set including TriMix and CCR. Highly rate these guys for setup and service.
Wow - Bermuda vs Glasgow! I bet you really miss home!? Haha
@@BlackMantaPhotography Hahah family yes but great to escape the madness at times.
Where are you based in UK.
Will defo check out Odyssey and most likely go with them. Thank you again for being so helpful. Really appreciate it.
Blue Horizon Diving really, it’s no trouble at all. Keep me posted on the trip. Would love to hear what you think of Truk!
We’re based in Orpington in north Kent, but just sold the house and moving down to the coast in East Sussex. Very much looking forward to next summer now!!
Wow so beautiful ocean so nice place
Thank you!!

My family is from Chuuk and live there
I’ve never met them
I’ve never been there
OLD MAN you must go!! Stunning place!!
I’ve always wanted to
My dad, step mother, brothers, and sisters are there
OLD MAN then even more reason to go and visit!
I was raised in Alabama but my brothers and sisters were raised in the islands.
I’ve always told everyone I am an undercover Mexican since no one knows where the islands are even if I tell them.
OLD MAN Hahahaha - hilarious!
The only people I know who have heard of Chuuk/Truk are scuba divers!
Have you ever met any of the Petewon family?
Nope never - not that I can recall. I would love to return though!
Where do you travel from if you don’t mind me asking?
From Atlanta, Georgia airport, lay over included
I’m told it’s 27 hours to the islands
OLD MAN we’re based in the UK. So for us the flight was London-South Korea-Guam-Chuuk.
38 hours total!
Worth every minute though!
Can you do a vlog at onari?
Jayme Smith if we ever return to Chuuk we’ll certainly give it a try for sure! 😊
You plan on going back one day?
OLD MAN definitely..! Too beautiful to only go once!
Well
If I ever get to make it over there
I will definitely post videos on UA-cam
But right now, my 4 month old daughter gets all of daddy’s attention....😍
OLD MAN hands full!! Well enjoy New Year when you guys get to it!! 🙌🏼🤩
