    I just started my new job as an infusion nurse and I love it! The family doctor office was too much sitting and phone calls for me. Infusion is a breath of fresh air after working in the ICU. I hope to stay at this job for a very long time.

      I totally agree!! Working as an infusion nurse is a great even medium where you don’t get the stress and random hours of working in the hospital, but you still get to use your nursing judgement and skills. Congrats and I wish you the best!❤️

    I'm getting back into working in the infusion clinic after taking 2.5 years off for my cancer treatments and I'm a little nervous to get back out there but I think I got it. Thanks for this video.

      Thank you so much for taking the time to watch! You are so strong to have gone through all of that - I hope you’re in a place where you can somewhat get back to living a normal life. In terms of getting back to work, don’t feel down if it doesn’t go perfectly the first few shifts back. It’ll get easier with time❤️Sending blessings

    Just ran across your tube. First, what’s this song and by who? Second, thx for explaining what an infusion nurse does, as I am interested in becoming one. Just started my nursing classes this semester at 57, and am super excited! Love your personality!

    Hey :) I was wondering if there are travel nursing positions in oncology infusions, I wanna be based in Los Angeles but travel and work in Canada and usa. I had a kindey transplant so I’m pretty use to the health care system and I am staring nursing school soon

      I only travel nurse within Canada but I have seen oncology contracts in BC (British Columbia) and when I’ve researched assignments in the US, I have definitely seen oncology contracts available! Get through nursing school, get some experience, and shoot for the stars✨Best of luck!!

    Hi. Do you have to insert Huber needles for ports when giving the majority of your meds? Thanks.

    • @YudyCAM
      @YudyCAM  Рік тому

      Hi there, my clinic works with biologic meds and none of the patients had implanted devices so no, I never had to access one - just purely starting peripheral IVs and infusing through those

    Hi. Thank you for sharing. It got me interested to be an infusion nurse, where do i start to pursue this career in nursing?

    • @YudyCAM
      @YudyCAM  5 місяців тому

      Hi there! I worked for a year in the ER where I had lots of opportunity to get comfortable with my IV starts and managing anaphylactic reactions. But many clinics just want at least a year of nursing experience and experience in starting IVs (some may or may not train you). I just kept looking for online job postings for private infusion clinics and made a few calls around until I landed an interview. Thanks for watching!

    Hi. In my 4 years of nursing, I’ve only had one opportunity to place an iv. I really want to get proficient in all things iv. Do you think, if I apply, they will train me or not give ve me a chance?

    • @YudyCAM
      @YudyCAM  5 місяців тому

      I find that’s really common for schools to not really allow too much opportunity for students to get their IV starts - such a disservice to you guys. The clinic I worked at required me to be proficient in IV starts already, no training besides just familiarizing myself with their equipment. I feel like that’s the majority of clinics but it never hurts to ask a specific clinic as everyone does things differently!

    Do you work ER PRN? I'm currently a new grad (6 months) in ER and want to do infusions. Any advice is helpful. Thank you.

    • @YudyCAM
      @YudyCAM  Рік тому +6

      Yes I do work in the ER PRN but I pick up anywhere from 2-4 shifts a week depending on how busy I am. Honestly, get really confident in starting IVs and your IV med infusions and you can start looking around. The rest you can figure out along the way (certain medication information etc). They need nurses everywhere so go for it! Thanks for watching🤎

    I'm confused, you start off saying "emergency is all I know" but then talk about being a clinic infusion nurse & that there's a ER nearby. I saw ER & Infusion nurse as completely different

    • @YudyCAM
      @YudyCAM  Рік тому +5

      Hi there! So I’ve been working in the ER as an RN since I graduated, but now I also have a position as an Infusion nurse in a private clinic on top of that. They are completely different areas of work like you said! When I say that there’s an ER nearby, I’m meaning in the case of a medical emergency where a patient requires urgent medical attention, that because I am working on my own with the patients, my role is to stabilize them and get them to the ER asap. I hope this clarified some of the confusion, thanks for watching

    HOW IS THE PAY NOW COMPARED TO 3 YEARS AGO? THANKS FOR THE VIDEO

    • @YudyCAM
      @YudyCAM  9 місяців тому +2

      I'm sure it depends on what province/state you work, but in British Columbia they increased staff RN wages in hospitals this year so I actually started making more working at the hospital than at the IV clinic, which was a change from before. Due to this and wanting to focus more on my ER experience, I decided to leave the clinic. However if you're looking for the flexibility and normal working hours, the IV clinic is still a great option!

      Wow after tough days on the med-surg floor and dying at thinking of going to work in the morning at times, I’ve literally found myself saying, “man, I wish I had a job I could look forward to going to everyday”. So that’s really cool to hear you say that. Definitely something I’ve thought of getting into before but this makes me want to look further into it
