- A baseboard gives a solid foundation on which to build your model railway. Join me in this video as I build my own N Gauge model railway baseboard out of timber & MDF.
This video should show you how easy and simple it can be to get reasonably quick results to enable you to build your first small layout!

MDF dust is generated through sanding and cutting the wood and is harmful to health - ensure you use appropriate PPE (personal protective equipment) and work in a well ventilated area. Alternatives such as Plywood may present a safer option

Im not just having a dig at you but these youtube premiere things drive me nuts.
Maybe not a popular opinion but i will watch anyway as i am subscribed.
Its just another youtube ploy to try and get in with the cool kids
Thanks for letting me know! I quite like doing them because it gives me a chance to chat in real time with my subs, and I also give you at least 24 hours notice of a premiere so that it gives you more chance to turn up. I understand how it can be frustrating - I too just want to watch the video - maybe I'll upload some without this feature
What he said.
"I'm not having a dig" whilst actually having a dig, lol....
At last .... a man who works like I do. " Rack of eye and screw of chops " as an old workmate of mine used to say. Why work to limits of a gnat's eyelash when it's going to be hidden but functional.
I shall follow your progress mainly for curiosity, but I'm starting an N scale (small) layout after many years of doing other things. I've no doubt that I shall learn something.
Haha! Yes, if it works then it's fine in my opinion. Work on my layout has been a little slow of late but hope to get some track laying done at some point! I recently made a custom N gauge wagon and the video is on my channel somewhere . . .
You have made a good start, I cannot wait to see your layout once its done. Great Video Matt
Thanks!
Looking fwd to the build Matt. The possibilities are endless with this gauge.
Yes! I'm very excited to get some trains running :D
It is looking good Matt. I will be watching for the next episode.
Awesome! Thanks :D
Great work so far! I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with your layout.
I'm also building a small layout - American N scale though.
Thanks! I think i'm pretty much seeing what happens as I go along. What stage is yours at at the moment?
@@ModelMinutes I'm at the baseboard making stage myself. I work for a furniture manufacturing company, so have been making my baseboard at work during my lunchbreak haha! Having said that, it's been over 30 deg C here lately, so I've been sitting outside under a tree and having my lunch instead. It's a bit of a shame that I can't post pictures of it here on UA-cam.
Nick Vallender sounds nice, I’m sure your baseboard will be to a higher standard than mine! ☺️
That’s good Matt, hope to see you soon. Thank you
Thanks for watching!
Looks to be a solid start!
Thanks!
When will the next part come out
I've actually made some progress on this recently - it's not ready yet but soon!
@@ModelMinutes awesome can’t wait to see it
